Development, Implementation and Experimentation on a dSPACE DS1104 of a Direct Voltage Control Scheme

  • This paper proposes and develops a new direct voltage control (DVC) approach. This method is designed to be applied in various applications for AC drives fed with a three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) working with a constant switching time interval as in the standard direct torque control (DTC) scheme. Based on a very strong min(max) criterion dedicated to selecting the inverter voltage vector, the developed DVC scheme allows the generation of accurate voltage forms of waves. The DVC algorithm is implemented on a dSPACE DS1104 controller board and then compared with the space vector pulse width modulation technique (SVPWM) in an open loop AC drive circuit. To demonstrate the efficiency of the developed algorithm in real time and in closed loop AC drive applications, a scalar control scheme for induction motors is successfully implemented and experimentally studied. Practical results prove the excellent performance of the proposed control approach.

  • Photovoltaic energy conversion becomes main focus of many researches due to its promising potential as source for future electricity and has many advantages than the other alternative energy sources like wind, solar, ocean, biomass, geothermal etc. In Photovoltaic power generation multilevel inverters play a vital role in power conversion. The three different topologies, diode-clamped (neutral-point clamped) inverter, capacitor-clamped (flying capacitor) inverter and cascaded h-bridge multilevel inverter are widely used in these multilevel inverters. Among the three topologies, cascaded h-bridge multilevel inverter is more suitable for photovoltaic applications since each pv array can act as a separate dc source for each h-bridge module. This paper presents a single phase Cascaded H-bridge five level inverter for grid-connected photovoltaic application using sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique. This inverter output voltage waveform reduces the harmonics in the generated current and the filtering effort at the input. The control strategy allows the independent control of each dc-link voltages and tracks the maximum power point of PV strings. This topology can inject to the grid sinusoidal input currents with unity power factor and achieves low harmonic distortion. A PID control algorithm is implemented in Arm Processor LPC2148. The validity of the proposed inverter is verified through simulation and is implemented in a single phase 100W prototype. The results of hardware are compared with simulation results. The proposed system offers improved performance over conventional three level inverter in terms of THD.

3차원 동영상의 시ㆍ공간적 정보 중복성을 이용한 효과적인 3차원 비디오 홀로그램의 생성 (Efficient Generation of 3-D Video Holograms Using Temporal-Spatial Redundancy of 3-D Moving Images)

  • 본 논문에서는 3차원 동영상의 시 공간적 정보 중복성 (TSR: temporal-spatial redundancy)과 노블 룩업테이블(N-LUT: novel look-up table)를 이용한 효과적인 3차원 동영상 홀로그램 생성기법인 TSR-N-LUT을 제시하였다. 제안된 기법에서는 먼저, DPCM (differential pulse code modulation) 알고리즘을 이용하여 3차원 동영상 프레임간의 시간적 중복 데이터를 제거한 다음, 잔여 영상에 대해서도 각 프레임별로 영상라인 간 중복 데이터를 제거하게 된다. 따라서, 시 공간적인 중복 데이터가 제거된 물체영상에 N-LUT 기법을 적용함으로써 효과적으로 3차원 비디오 홀로그램을 합성하게 된다. 실험결과 제안된 TSR-N-LUT 기법은 기존 방법에 비해 평균적으로 홀로그램 계산을 위한 물체 포인트 수가 23.72% 감소함과 동시에 홀로그램 생성속도 역시 19.55% 개선됨을 보임으로써 제안된 기법의 실제 응용 가능성을 제시하였다.

Advanced surface processing of NLO borate crystals for UV generation

  • Recent advances in NLO Borate Crystals for UV Generation are reviewed with the particular emphasis on the technique to improve the life time of UV optics. The laser-damage resistance of CLBO and fused silica surfaces was successfully improved after removing polishing compound by ion beam etching. The polishing compound embedded in the CLBO and fused silica surfaces were to a depth of less than 100nm. We were able to remove polishing compound without degrading the surface condition when the applied ion beam voltage was less than 200 V. The laser-induced surface damage threshold of CLBO was improved up to 15J/$\textrm{cm}^2$(wavelength: 355 nm, pulse width: 0.85 ns)as compared with that of the as-polished surface (11 J/$\textrm{cm}^2$). The laser-induced surface damage of fused silica also increased from 7.5J/$\textrm{cm}^2$ to 15J/$\textrm{cm}^2$. For the irradiation of a 266 nm high-intensity and high-repetition laser light, the surface lifetime of CLBO and fused silica could be more doubled compared with that of the as-polished surface.

  • 본 논문은 (3$^{n-1}$+2) 레벨 형성법에 기반한 멀티레벨 인버터를 제안한다. PWM 인버터, LEVEL 인버터와 다단 변압기로 구성되는 이 회로는 양질의 출력전압을 형성하기 위해서 이차측이 직렬로 결합된 다단 변압기를 이용하게 된다. 변압기 권선비의 적절한 선택을 통해 입력전압의 정수비 형태로 주어지는 출력전압레벨을 형성할 수 있다. 제안된 방식으로 11레벨, 29레벨 시작품을 제작하여 실험을 통해 타당성을 검증한다.

  • 정상 성인을 대상으로 언어생성과제의 시각적 지시과제와 청각적 지시과제에 대한 기능적 MR영상들을 비교하고자 하였다. 6명의 정상 성인을 대상으로 자기공명영상기기를 이용하였다 시각적, 청각적 언어 지시과제는 명사의 언어를 이용하여. 휴지기. 확성기를 각각 6번 구성하였다. 뇌의 활성영역의 휴지기와 확성기의 신호변화에 따른 데이터는 MRDx 프로그램으로 처리하였고 cross correlation 방법으로 통계 처리하였다. 시각적, 청각적 지시과제의 분석방법은 lateralization index 공식으로 뇌 반구의 활성화 voxel의 총합과 좌$.$우 반구의 픽셀 수를 구하였고, 지시 과제에 대한 활성화 영역을 “Area of Activation Cells” 값에 따라 4등급으로 분류하여 비교 분석하였다. 시간적 청각적 지시과제에서 Broca, Wernicke 영역 등에서 크기는 다르지만 모두 활성화가 관찰되었다. lateralization index에서 뇌반구의 활성화 값에 차이는 시각적 지시과제에 비해 청각적 지시과제가 높은 활성화 값을 보였다. 그러므로 언어영역에 대한 뇌의 기능적 영상을 얻는데 두 방법 모두 유용하다고 생각된다.

  • To simulate the effect of high dose-rate radiation on semiconductor devices, device modeling work has been performed especially in the area of photo-current generation by a PIN diode. The resultant analytical values were compared with experimental ones that were specially designed and performed to benchmark the simulation results. Initial results showed 27.85% error between the simulation and the experiment. The error can be further reduced by improvement both in simulation and in related experiments. The developed technique from the study can be applicable to radiation dosimetry and to analysis on the radiation effects in electronics.

Sliding Mode Attitude Control for Momentum-Biased Spacecraft

  • In this paper, we present a sliding mode control strategy for the re-orientation maneuver of rigid spacecraft containing rotating wheels. The wheels are considered as internal devices, and external inputs are employed for generation of control commands. The formulation is developed for a general case while particular example is applied to pitch bias momentum spacecraft with a single momentum wheel. The resultant control commands are used to take the gyroscopic effects into account which are caused by the rotating wheels. The controller designed demonstrates that the nutational motion of the pitch bias momentum spacecraft is effectively controlled. It is also assumed that the external control torque device is of on-off nature, and pulse width modulation technique is applied to construct proper control torque history.

PI-CCC Based Switched Reluctance Generator Applications for Wind Power Generation Using MATLAB/SIMULINK

  • This paper presents a novel nonlinear model of Switched Reluctance Generator (SRG) based on wind Energy Conversion system. Closed loop control with based Proportional Integrator current Chopping Control machine model is used. A Power converter in SRG can be controlled by using PI-CCC proposed model, and can be produced maximum power efficiency and minimize the ripple contents in the output of SRG. A second power converter namely PI based controlled PWM Inverter is used to interface the machine to the Grid. An effective control technique for the inverter, based on the pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme, has been developed to make the line voltage needs less power switching devices and each pair of turbine the generated active power starts increasing smoothly. This proposed control scheme feasibility and validity are simulated on SIMULINK/SIM POWER SYSTEMS only.

  • Common mode voltage (CMV) generation is a major problem in switching power converter fed induction motor drive systems. CMV is the zero sequence voltage generated due to the switching action of power converters. Even a small magnitude of CMV with a high rate of change may circulate large bearing currents which may damage a machine's bearings and shorten its life. There are several methods of controlling CMV. This paper presents 3-level sinusoidal pulse width modulation based techniques to control the magnitude and rate of change of CMV in multilevel AC-DC-AC drive systems. Simulation and experimental investigations have been presented to validate the performance of proposed technique to control CMV in 3-level neutral point clamped inverter based AC-DC-AC system.
