Academic libraries are at the forefront of supporting their parent institutions in teaching and learning, research activities, and community services for the students and faculty members, but, the researchers observed that some of the research emanating from faculty members in academic institutions particularly universities remains largely unknown, unrecognized and invisible on the global scene. This present paper is therefore a modest attempt towards addressing the issue of enhancing the faculty research visibility in the institutions of higher learning by the academic libraries. It also examines the extent academic libraries in public universities in Nigeria use research visibility channels to increase the global visibility of their faculty members. Difficulties encountered by librarians and ways of tackling the visibility of the faculty were also examined. A descriptive survey research design was adopted and the population consisted of all the 162 librarians in public universities in South-East (S.E), Nigeria. Telephone calls and Online Questionnaire were used for data collection. The number of librarians was obtained through phone calls from the Heads of each of the Libraries. The Online Questionnaire was submitted to the WhatsApp platforms of librarians in Nigeria- Academic and Research Libraries (ARL) and Chartered Librarians in Nigeria Connect (CLN-Connect). The questionnaire was structured in such a way that only the Librarians in Public universities in the S.E. Nigeria will respond to it. At the end of the day only 120 librarians responded, at a response rate of 74%. The study was analysed using tables, percentages and charts. The study recommended that librarians who are unaware of RVCs and its utilization should go for training to acquire the knowledge that will enable them enhance the global visibility of faculty staff, Management of Public universities in S.E, Nigeria should in addition to addressing copyright issues by the use of disclaimer notices and creative common licensing and provision of infrastructural facilities e.g. steady power supply, High power brand Internet connectivity, establishment of an Institutional Repository, etc, also should mandate the faculty staff to release their productive work to the library for onward submission to the RVCs platforms for enhancement of their global visibility.

Today, the importance of library services for children is well acknowledged by many. The children's rooms of the public library in addition to the children's library must be the place where the community's young ones grow up and learn to give back to their society. Also, the libraries are a life-long source of education. However, not all of the public libraries in our country have librarians specialized in children and young adults. The lack of specialized librarians prevents the public libraries from keeping up with the rapid change of society, which in turn prevents the libraries from meeting children's needs for information, culture, and recreation. The purpose of this research has two goals in mind. The first objective is to find out how to effectively build cooperative networks that will help the children's librarians of both public and children's libraries to better serve the children. The second objective is to solve any problems the librarians may encounter while serving the children by studying the formal and informal contents of the cooperative networks, and identifying which areas are in need of these cooperative networks.

Cinematographic works are crucial for libraries as a part of their collections. Especially public libraries provide a variety of programs associated with cinematographic works. Copyright law considers the use of cinematographic works as a type of public performance and restricted it under certain conditions such as the released date. In addition, copyright agency challenged libraries to pay fees for cinematographic works released within 6 months. At this point, this study investigated the perception of librarians on cinematographic works and copyright issues. 292 librarians in public and academic libraries answers the questionnaire form May 8th to June 7th, 2013. In result, librarians consider services of video works as a important part of library services. They are also conscious of the exception conditions for copyright law for cinematographic works provided by library services. Furthermore, even though librarians are aware of copyright issues, they show the negative response to copyright fees for playing cinematographic works in the libraries.

Public library users' perception of librarians can be an important aspect in improving the public library uses and the quality of informn services. Thus it is necessary to identify what factors affect users' perceptions of librarians. This research empirically investigated users' general perceptions of librarians and the factors affecting them through a survey. As a result, it was found that the use of library collections, library facilities, and participation in club activities through the library affect the formation of a positive perception of librarians. In addition, the roles of the librarian are expanding from informational activities to supporting social activities. In contrast, the factors of direct interaction with the librarian, including participation in public library programs, circulating library collections, and communication with librarian, do not have a significant effect on the formation of the perception of librarian. Thus librarians need to consider library users more substantially and to support them in various ways.

The purpose of this study is to closely examine the level of effect the job factor has on the organizational commitment of public librarians. To do this, I have divided the job factors in to four categories, Job specification, Job satisfaction, Job Involvement, Job performance, and classified the level of organizational commitment into three categories affective, continuance, normative and examined the level of organizational commitment of public librarians for each classification, and also analyzed the relationship for each factors and their importance.

The purpose of this study was to obtain the various basic data for introduction of information and referral service in the Korean public libraries. For the purpose, this study was conducted by carrying out theoretical research on the concept and definition of information and referral service, the type and level of the service and the needs for introduction of the service in public libraries and using questionnaires with 242 public libraries(reference librarians) all over the country, so as to examine the librarians' views on the whole service. The questionnaire mainly included questions about actual status, present level and understanding level of the service, reference librarians' response to needs for introduction of the service, and type and level of the service available when the service has been introduced. In conclusion, this study will help to establish basic foundation, so that the Korean public libraries can realize equalization of the service and promote the information and referral service.

This study aims at exploring the effectiveness of continuing education for enhancing professionalism of children's librarians and its problems in order to provide systematic and practical children's services in public libraries. To this end, we conducted a thorough review and analysis of relevant studies on children's services and children's librarian education in public libraries. Then, we carried out a survey for children's librarians in public libraries in 2007 and in-depth phone and email interviews of children's librarians who participated in a continuing education program at K library one year later. The study findings showed the need for children's librarians' continuing practical training for children's services instead of one-time training. Further, we found the lack of children's librarians' professionalism and staff members in providing effective library services for children in public libraries.

The purpose of this study is to develop a media literacy education model that helps public librarians plan and operate media literacy education programs in South Korea. To develop the model, a mixed methods study consisting of a literature review, a survey of librarians, and interviews with professors, public librarians, and media literacy instructors was conducted, Additionally, an expert advisory committee was formed and consulted to obtain opinions on the developed model. As a result of survey and interviews, public libraries and librarians are perceived to have a responsibility to improve citizens' media literacy, and public libraries are recognized as the best educational institution to achieve that goal. By reflecting on the literature review and analysis of the research findings, the research team developed, and presents herein, a media literacy education model that includes educational objectives, core competencies, educational targets, media types, and roles and functions for each educational subject.

This study aimed to analyze the impact of public library librarians' innovative work behavior on service quality, which is an indicator of organizational performance. To achieve this goal, the study surveyed both librarians and users of seven public libraries in the Seoul metropolitan area and assessed 77 cases of librarian data and 309 cases of user data. The innovative work behaviors of librarians and the quality of service provided to users were examined. The analysis showed that idea realization, the final stage of innovative work behavior, was beneficial for information control. However, idea generation, the initial stage of innovative behavior, adversely affected the affect of service and information control dimensions. The situation where the process stalled at the idea generation stage without progressing to the next stage (idea promotion or realization), was interpreted as leading to decreased service quality. The significance of this study is that it applied the concept of innovative work behavior to public libraries and suggested the impact of public librarians' innovative work behavior on service quality using an empirical method.

A Library is the fundamental character of culture in a country and it is also a barometer of culture in its community. Every cultural reality, however, can hardly come to fruition in a short time and so, it will be effected through a long time and tradition. This study aims at catching up how the above-mentioned public libraries have an influence on culture of its community people. For this purpose, the actual conditions of the public libraries have been investigated and analyzed and as a result of it, the problems have been reilluminated from the nation-wide point of view. And in the new changes, developing improvement measures have been tried to find. How to study was on the basis of the actual materials of the on the-spot survey, the interviews with the working officials and the response by way of questionnaire. Summing up the investigated and analyzed contents are as followings. In the above mentioned province, therefore, number of the public libraries are very limited compared with number of the people. And so, it is very essential to increase the public libraries in the province. In terms of the actual conditions, the public libraries lags far behind the other provinces in Korea from this library field. The present chronic conditions are the budgetary deficit, the collections insufficient to the legal minimal standards, the lack of professional librarians ignorance of the people and library managements by unprofessionals, etc.. This hinders the progress of the public libraries and to seculate them from the people. The improvements and the solutions to the above-mentioned problems are as follows. 1. To recruit the personnel sufficient to the legal standards and to reorganize the offices and to turn upward the highest class of librarian's position above the 4th class. 2. To secure collections sufficient to the legal standards and to strang then the extension services. 3. To organize the council composed of the chief librarians of the public libraries including the working chiefs in the province and to develop the works-in-hand of the libraries from the level of decision-making. 4. To organize the librarian training group and to study the working problems and to seek the qualified improvement of librarians. 5. The management of the public libraries in the province are, at present, der the Ministry of Education and the local government takes the financial power. So both should be shortly unified. 6. To do regularly the course of how to use library materials for the community people and to seek the inducement measures for the people through the various cultural events. 7. The public libraries organize the mutual cooperation networks and to seek the system automatized plans of free use of library materials and every library works. 8. To enlarge book mobile system actively and to infiltrate into the daily living of people deeply. Finally, what the present writer would like to speak to the chief librarians of the public libraries the human aspects of librarians should not be ignored no mater how excellent a library organization may be. In addition to this, the present writter is sure that the far-reached future of our library organization will depend on the librarians.
