The Effect of Spirituality on Depression and Psychological Well-Being in Undergraduate Students (영성(영적 경향성)이 대학생에서 우울과 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective : The aims of this study are to investigate the correlation between spiritual well-being and the pattern of stress coping strategies, as well as understand how they impact depression and psychological well-being. Methods : We analyzed 320 undergraduate students in a capital area (135 males, 170 females; 15 students who answered irrelevantly were excluded). Spiritual well-being (religious and existential), stress coping strategies (active and passive), psychological well-being and, depression were rated using the Spiritual Well-Being scale, Ways of Coping checklist, Psychological Well-Being measurement, and Depression Scale (CES-D), respectively. For the analysis, we utilized Pearson correlation analysis and simple regression analysis. Results : The analysis revealed a positive correlation between Spiritual well-being and active coping strategies, a negative correlation between existential well-being and depression, and a positive correlation between religious well-being and psychological well-being. By regression analysis, it showed spiritual-well being affected depression negatively. Existential well-being, but not religious well-being, affected depression negatively. Furthermore, the impact of existential well-being on depression remained a strong predictor in males better than females. Existential well-being affected psychological well-being positively through active coping strategies. Conclusion : In this study, we verified a correlation between existential well-Being and active coping strategies which affected depression and psychological well-being in undergraduate students.

Psychological Well-being, Perceived Health Status, and Health Promoting Behavior of Clinical Nurses (임상간호사의 심리적 안녕감, 지각된 건강상태, 건강증진행위에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to assess the degree of psychological well-being, perceived health status, and health promoting behavior of clinical nurses, and to identify correlations between variables. Methods: Participants were 194 nurses working at S hospital, Seoul and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Duncan's test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regressions. Results: Mean scores were 3.45 (5 point scale) for psychological well-being, 2.82(4 point scale) for perceived health status, and 2.30(4 point scale) for health promoting behavior. Psychological well-being correlated positively with perceived health status (r=.34, p<.001). Perceived health status showed a positive correlation with health promoting behavior (r=.30, p<.001). There was a positive correlation between psychological well-being and health promoting behavior (r=.52, p<.001). Personal growth(t=2.85, p=.005), purpose in life (t=2.30, p=.023) among subscales of psychological well-being, and perceived health status (t=2.13, p=.034) had a significant influence on health promoting behavior. These combinations explained 32.1% of health promoting behavior (F=12.58, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest strategies to improve health promoting behavior by enhancing psychological well-being of nurses. Furthermore, a study to identify the effects of developed and applied psychological well-being promotion program should be conducted.

Comparison of the Psychological Well-Being of Married Men and Women in Busan (부산지역 기혼남녀의 심리적 복지감에 관한 비교연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to empirically verify the influence of certain variables on the psychological well-being of married men and women and to provide a basis for promoting the quality of life. The subjects of this study were 366 married men and women in Busan. The data was obtained through administering a self-reported questionnaire. Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS/WIN 10.0 and included frequencies, means, standard deviation, Chronbach'a, $$\chi$^2$, t-test, and regression analysis. The major results of this study were as follows: First, the scores for degree of income propriety, fate control orientation and material orientation of married men was higher than those of married women. The scores for degree of stress recognition and perceived equity showed no significant difference between men and women. The score for psychological well-being of married men and women was relatively low. The score of psychological well-being of married women(2.94) was higher than that of married men(2.67). Second, variables that affect the psychological well-being of married men were degree of income propriety(p>.001), degree of perceived stress(p>.001), fate control orientation(p>.001) and material orientation(p>.001). Variables that affect psychological well-being of married women were degree of income propriety(p>.001), degree of perceived stress (p>.001), fate control orientation(p>.001) and perceived equity(p>.01). The variable of perceived equity didn't affect psychological well-being of married men. The variable of material orientation didn't affect the psychological well-being of married women. Third, the influence level of the degree of income propriety of married men and women was the highest among the variables.

The moderating effect of spousal support and support systems for work-family compatibility on work-family conflict and psychological well-being of working mothers (취업모의 일-가정 갈등이 심리적 복지감에 미치는 영향에서 배우자지지 및 일-가정양립지원제도의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study were to explorer the factors affecting the psychological well-being of working mothers and to investigate the moderating effect of spousal support and support systems for work family compatibility on relationship between work-family conflict and psychological well-being. The subjects were 300 working mothers who are aged under 50, have more than one child live in Seoul. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. The Results are follows. First, the analysis of work-family conflicts, spousal support and support systems for work-family compatibility, and psychological well-being of working mothers indicated that the working mothers perceived family-work conflict to be higher than work-family conflict. The working mothers received stronger support from support systems intended for work-family compatibility than from their spouses. The score of the psychological well-being of the working mothers was 3.27 (standard deviation = .91), which is higher than median. Second, the factors influencing the working mothers' psychological well-being were age, monthly household income, number of children, work${\rightarrow}$family and family${\rightarrow}$work conflict, and spousal support. Greater psychological well-being was linked to a young maternal age, a high monthly household income, a low number of children, low levels of work${\rightarrow}$family and family${\rightarrow}$work conflict, and strong spousal support. Third, spousal support mediated the relationship between family${\rightarrow}$work conflict and psychological well-being.

The Effect of ROKAF Officer's Job Satisfaction and Psychological Well-being on their Self-leadership (공군간부들의 직무만족도, 심리적 안녕감이 셀프리더십에 미치는 영향)

  • This research examines the relationships and effects among ROKAF officer's job satisfaction and psychological well-being and their self-leadership. Multiple regressions were conducted using 211 data. Results are as follows. First, Job satisfaction, psychological well-being and self-leadership were significantly positively correlated with each other. Second, as for the effects of subordinate factors among job satisfaction and psychological well-being on the subordinate factors of self-leadership, personal growth and controling environment of psychological well-being and administration of job satisfaction influenced self-expectation of self-leadership. For the self-reward of self-leadership, personal growth, meaning of life and autonomy of psychological well-being and relationship and reward system of job satisfaction influenced it. Finally, as for the effects of subordinate factors among job satisfaction and psychological well-being on self-leadership, administration and relationship of job satisfaction and personal growth, meaning of life and autonomy of psychological well-being influenced it. Finally implications and limitations of this research are discussed.

Mediating Effects of Self-reassuring and Self-attacking on Relationship between Mental Health and Psychological Well-being among College Students (대학생의 정신건강과 심리적 안녕감 간의 관계에서 자기위안과 자기공격의 매개효과)

  • This study examined the mediating effects of self-reassuring and self-attacking in the relationship between mental health and psychological well-being among college students. The study subjects were 230 (98 males and 132 females), and the collected data were analyzed using the SPSS PROCESS Macro based on regression analysis. The results of the study were as follows. First, there were significant relationship among mental health, psychological well-being, self-reassuring and self-attacking. Second, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, interpersonal sensitivity and psychosis had a significant negative effect on psychological well-being. Third, self-reassuring and self-attacking had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between mental health and psychological well-being. The indirect effect of mental health on psychological well-being through self-reassuring was significantly higher than the indirect effect of psychological well-being through self-attacking. Based on the results of this study, we discussed the role of self-reassuring in the relationship between mental health and psychological well-being.

Relationships among Mental Health, Self-forgiveness, and Psychological Well-being in University Students (대학생들의 정신건강과 자기용서 및 심리적 웰빙 간의 관계)

  • South Korea has become richer economically than the past, but still level of happiness is low. This research was conducted to verify the relationships among mental health, self-forgiveness, and psychological well-being. Participants were 232 college students in an university in Seoul. Methods of data analysis were ANOVA, regression analysis, and path analysis. As a result of analyses, first, MMPI-2 clinical scales which showed significant correlation with psychological well-being were as follows: Hs, D, Pd, Pa, Pt, Sc, Si. Second, PSY-5 scales which showed significant correlation with psychological well-being were as follows: PSYC, NEGE, INTR. Third, stepwise regression analysis revealed that Sc, Si and Pd among clinical scales of MMPI-2 were associated with psychological well-being. Fourth, PSYC, NEGE and INTR among clinical scales of PSY-5 scales were associated with psychological well-being. Fifth, self-forgiveness had a significant mediating effect in the relationship between mental health and psychological well-being. Based on the results, implications related to importances of mental health and self-forgiveness were discussed for increasing psychological well-being of college students.

The Relation between Romantic Attachment and Psychological Well-being of College Students: The Mediating Effect of Romantic Competence (대학생의 낭만적 애착과 심리적 안녕감의 관계: 연인관계 유능성의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of romantic competence on the relation between romantic attachment and psychological well-being. A sample of 206 college students was employed. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlations and hierarchical regressions. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, romantic attachment was negatively associated with psychological well-being and romantic competence. Also, romantic competence was positively associated with psychological well-being. Second, there was partial mediating effect of romantic competence on the relation between romantic attachment and psychological well-being. This study explored the direct effect of romantic attachment on psychological well-being and the indirect effect of romantic attachment on psychological well-being through romantic competence. The results imply that personal relationship skills should be considered to enhance psychological well-being when planning programs or counseling for college students.

  • After the spread of COVID-19 in China, Chinese medical workers bear the high-intensity work, these problems reduced psychological well-being. Psychological well-being will affect the members'behavior and job performance. Authentic leadership can improve the members'psychological well-being. This study focuses on the psychological well-being and explores how authentic leadership in the process of affecting the psychological well-being, to find out the mediating role of the leaders' relational conflict and the job stress. This study found that authentic leadership in the process of improving the members'psychological well-being, job stress will play a negative mediating effect. Under the background of COVID-19 era, this study helps to improve the psychological well-being level of medical staff.

The Relationship between Middle-aged Women's Gender Role Conflict and Psychological Well-being: Focused on Mediating Effect of Resilience (중년 여성의 성역할 갈등과 심리적 웰빙 간의 관계: 적응유연성의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study aimed to analyze the relationships among the middle-aged women's gender role conflict, resilience, and psychological well-being, and to examine the mediating model of resilience on gender role conflict and psychological well-being. Data were collected from July 28 to August 5, 2021 for 302 middle-aged women aged 40-65 years. The Gender Role Conflict Scale specialized for middle-aged Korean women, internal traits subscale of Ahn's Resilience Scales, and Ryff's Psychological Well-being Scale were used for this study. PROCESS Macro 3.5 Model 4 was used to analyze the mediating effect. Results revealed that the middle-aged women's gender role conflict was negatively correlated with resilience and psychological well-being. And, the middle-aged women's resilience was positively correlated with psychological well-being. Because both the direct effect of the middle-aged women's gender role conflict on psychological well-being and its indirect effect through resilience were statistically significant, it was found that the middle-aged women's resilience was partially mediating their gender role conflict and psychological well-being.
