  • As a social being, people can cooperate and control one another through the power of reputation, which is a critical opinion of someone given by others. Nevertheless, there have been obstacles in clarifying the identity of traditional types of reputation, for they are mostly words of mouth passed among members of a society. However, due to dramatic technological advancement and widespread use of the Internet and social media, now we can clearly see and analyze written reputations, which used to be passed only from mouth to mouth. Against this background, this study examines whether a negativity bias-a notion that an event of a more negative nature has a greater effect on one's psychological state than a positive event-applies to spread of reputation online, and examines related factors and effects. To this end, reputation-related online comments left by social media users during the election period of Korea's 6th provincial election on 4 June 2014 were analyzed. For the analysis, a Bass diffusion model was used, which is based on the innovation diffusion theory. The analysis results confirmed that, at online forum, negative reputations spread more quickly and more widely than positive ones, had a greater impact, and mass media such as online news outlets had a significant influence on spread of reputation online.

Method: The methodology of collecting and analyzing data used in this study followed the ground theory of Strauss and Corbin (1998). Data were collected through in-depth interviews with open-ended questions about the subjects' coping experiences, which were audio-taped and transcribed. The survey was conducted between April and May, 2007. The subjects of this study were 5 CENs. Result: The results of the study are as follows. • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Although the issues of singles' dietary style and quality of life are becoming important due to the increasing number of singles with economic power, little research has been conducted to date on singles' use of convenience food and quality of life in relation to their dietary style. Thus, the present study intends to provide basic data to improve the quality of life by determining the current status of the use of convenience food and explicating its relationship with quality of life through analyzing the dietary lifestyles of the singles. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The targets of this study were singles, identified as adults between the ages of 25 and 54, living alone, either legally or in actuality having no partner. A statistical analysis of 208 surveys from Seoul, respectively, was conducted using SPSS12.0 for Windows and SEM using AMOS 5.0 statistics package. RESULTS: The convenience-oriented was shown to have a significant positive effect on convenience food satisfaction. HMR satisfaction was found to have a significant effect on positive psychological satisfaction and the convenience-oriented was found to have a significant negative effect on all aspects of quality of life satisfaction. CONCLUSIONS: There must be persistent development of food industries considering the distinctive characteristics of the lives of singles in order to satisfy their needs and improve the quality of their lives.

  • Like that mentioned in the 2nd report, because of panel's sense of psychological and physiological responsibility caused by multi-samples, great errors in experimental results are expected. So as to cut down these errors, the new method called "Pair Comparision with Standard" that reduces test frequency and is superior in detecting power is designed, and its mathematical model is proposed. This paper suggests that this method can be used for screening test that, first of all, selects 4-5 of multi-samples and the most efficient sensory evaluation method in laboratorial quality study is that, after screening by this method, Trio Paired Comparison for the final justification is applicated.

  • This study has investigated psychological responses to various TV advertisements by using EEG(electroencephalogram). In particular, it was assumed that the brain wave would show different patterns depending upon the style of the advertisement that could be categorized into two such as 'information transfer' type and 'emotional reaction' type. Ten healthy males participated in the experiment. EEG signal was extracted from six lobes such as right and left frontal, right and left occipital, right and left temporal while the subjects were watching TV advertisements. Alpha and beta relative power spectrum, and beta/alpha parameter were calculated to compare two kinds of advertisement each other. Additionally, subjective questionnaire was used to examine subject's response by using adjective words and preference test. In result, significant differences were found in left frontal and right occipital lobe in terms of beta/alpha between two different advertisements. And, subjects showed different preference between two advertisements. It was shown that the current method could analyze the brain reaction to advertisement quantitatively, that presented the possibility of using it to marketing research.

  • This study examined the effect of ergonomic heel rest that was designed for drivers who have physical handicap in the low leg muscles or have to drive prolonged hours with frequent foot pedaling. An experiment was designed to test the ergonomic heel rest with traditional foot pedal. Forty subjects participated in the experiment. Electromyography(EMG) was used to monitor the muscle activity and fatigue of right leg, and Electro-goniometer was used to measure the ranges of motions of the knee and ankle. A simulator of driver's seat was built for the experiment and the heel rest was installed on it. In order to examine the low muscle activity and range of motion, subjects used the foot pedal for 15 minutes repetitively for each experimental condition. Another 15 minutes test without the heel rest was also performed for comparison. The Root Mean Square(RMS) and Mean Power Frequency(MPF) Shift were used to quantify the level of muscle activity and local muscle fatigue. In results, statistically significant decreases of muscle activity and fatigue were found in all the low leg muscles. The range of motion of the knee and ankle joint also decreased when the heel rest was used. The mechanism of the heel rest effect was discussed in this study. This type of heel rest can be applied to real driving situation after ensuring the safety, or overcoming the psychological discomfort possibly due to unfamiliarity.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the impacts of perceived stress and self-compassion on the quality of life of nursing students. Methods: Data were collected from 180 nursing students between 11 October and 26 October 2018 from a college in A city. A total of 157 questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, a one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The findings show that perceived stress had a significant negative correlation with quality of life (r=-.73, p<.001). However, self-compassion showed a significant positive correlation with quality of life (r=.66, p<.001). The factors influencing quality of life included perceived stress, self-compassion, state of health, and satisfaction with school life, with perceived stress being the most influential factor (β=-.42), followed by self-compassion (β=.30), which together had an explanatory power of 64.0%. Moreover, there was a mediating effect of self-compassion in the relationship between perceived stress and quality of life. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that nursing college students should search for ways to reduce their perceived stress as well as increase self-compassion with meditation programs in order to improve their quality of life.
