In this paper, a pseudorange correction regeneration algorithm was developed to improve the positioning accuracy of DGPS using multi-reference stations, and the optimal minimum number of reference sites was determined by trying out different numbers of reference. This research was conducted using from two to five sites, and positioning errors of less than 1 m were obtained when pseudorange corrections are collected from at least four reference stations and interpolated as the pseudorange correction at the rover. After determining the optimal minimum number of reference stations, the pseudorange correction regeneration algorithm developed was tested by comparison with the performance of other algorithms. Our approach was developed based on an exponential model. If pseudorange corrections are regenerated using an exponential model, the effect of a small difference in the baseline distance can be enlarged. Therefore, weights can be applied sensitively even when the baseline distance differs by a small amount. Also weights on the baseline distance were applied differently by assigning weights depending on the difference of the longest and shortest baselines. Through this method, the positioning accuracy improved by 19% compared to the result of previous studies.
The International GNSS Service (IGS) provides the IGS-Real Time Service (IGS-RTS) corrections that can be used in stand-alone positioning in real time. In this study, the positioning accuracy before and after the application of the corrections to broadcast ephemeris by applying the IGS-RTS corrections at code pseudo-range based stand-alone positioning was compared with positioning result using precise ephemeris. The analysis result on IGS-RTS corrections showed that orbit error and clock error were 0.05 m and 0.5 ns compared to precise ephemeris and accuracy improved by about 8.5% compared to the broadcast ephemeris-applied result when the IGS-RTS was applied to positioning. Furthermore, regionally dispersed five observatories were selected to analyze the effect of external environments on positioning accuracy and positioning errors according to location and time were compared as well as the number of visible satellites and position dilution of precision by observatory were analyzed to verify a correlation with positioning error.

This paper focuses on modeling and predicting differential GPS corrections transmitted by marine radio-beacon systems using artificial neural networks. Various neural network structures with various training algorithms were examined, including Linear, Radial Biases, and Feedforward. Matlab Neural Network toolbox is used for this purpose. Data sets used in building the model are the transmitted pseudorange corrections and broadcast navigation message. Model design is passed through several stages, namely data collection, preprocessing, model building, and finally model validation. It is found that feedforward neural network with automated regularization is the most suitable for our data. In training the neural network, different approaches are used to take advantage of the pseudorange corrections history while taking into account the required time for prediction and storage limitations. Three data structures are considered in training the neural network, namely all round, compound, and average. Of the various data structures examined, it is found that the average data structure is the most suitable. It is shown that the developed model is capable of predicting the differential correction with an accuracy level comparable to that of beacon-transmitted real-time DGPS correction.

The Navstar Global Positioning System(GPS) is an advanced navigation satelite system for determination of position, velocity and time. It can provide three-dimensional positioning on a global basis, independent of weather, 24 hours per day. Test results show that the carrier phase and pseudorange corrections are suitable for a kinematic GPS system. Using these corrections are more effective than using raw GPS data, since fewer bits are required for transmission Additionally, the number of computation required at the rover is reduced when corrections, rather than raw measurement are transmitted

It is necessary to use satellite radio navigation system as well as satellite radio navigation augmentation system such as differential Global Positioning System to achieve the positioning accuracy and reliability requested by International Maritime Organization in port and coastal area. Especially, position accuracy of DGPS user is effected by accuracy of pseudorange correction broadcasted from DGPS reference station. This paper shows pseudorange correction calculation algorithm adopting a non-common error estimation filter in order to improve accuracy of pseudorange correction. Finally, this paper verifies that the pseudorange correction calculated by adopting a non-common error estimation filter satisfies performance specifications of RTCM.

In order to prepare for recapitalization of differential GNSS (DGNSS) reference station and integrity monitor (RSIM) due to GNSS diversification, this paper focuses on differential correction algorithm using GPS/Galileo pesudorange. The technical standards on operation and broadcast of DGNSS RSIM are described as operation of differential GPS (DGPS) RSIM for conversion of DGNSS RSIM. Usually, in order to get the differential corrections of GNSS pesudorange, the system must know the real positions of satellites and user. Therefore, for calculating the position of Galileo satellites correctly, using the equation for calculating the SV position in Galileo ICD (Interface Control Document), it estimates the SV position based on Ephemeris data obtained from user receiver, and calculates the clock offset of satellite and user receiver, system time offset between GPS and Galileo, then determines the pseudorange corrections of GPS/Galileo. Based on a platform for performance verification connected with GPS/Galileo integrated signal simulator, it compared the PRC (pseudorange correction) errors of GPS and Galileo, analyzed the position errors of DGPS, DGalileo, and DGPS/DGalileo respectively. The proposed method was evaluated according to PRC errors and position accuracy at the simulation platform. When using the DGPS/DGalileo corrections, this paper could confirm that the results met the performance requirements of the RTCM.

This paper focuses on the generation algorithm of BeiDou pseudorange correction (PRC) and simulation based performance verification for design of Differential Global Navigation Satellite System (DGNSS) reference station and integrity monitor (RSIM) in order to prepare for recapitalization of DGNSS. First of all, it discusses the International standard on DGNSS RSIM, based on the interface control document (ICD) for BeiDou, estimates the satellite position using satellite clock offset and user receiver clock offset, and the system time offset between Global Positioning System (GPS) and BeiDou. Using the performance verification platform interfaced with GNSS (GPS/BeiDou) simulator, it calculates the BeiDou pseudorange corrections , compares the results of position accuracy with GPS/DGPS. As the test results, this paper verified to meet the performance of position accuracy for DGNSS RSIM operation required on Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services (RTCM) standard.

Fields of high-precision positioning applications are growing fast across the mass market worldwide. Accordingly, the industry is focusing on developing methods of applying State-Space Representation (SSR) corrections on low-cost GNSS receivers. Among SSR correction types, this paper analyzes Safe Position Augmentation for Real Time Navigation (SPARTN) messages being offered by the SAfe and Precise CORrection DAta (SAPCORDA) company and validates positioning algorithms based on them. The first part of this paper introduces the SPARTN format in detail. Then, procedures on how to apply Basic-Precision Atmosphere Correction (BPAC) and High-Precision Atmosphere Correction (HPAC) messages are described. BPAC and HPAC messages are used for correcting satellite clock errors, satellite orbit errors, satellite signal biases and also ionospheric and tropospheric delays. Accuracies of positioning algorithms utilizing SPARTN messages were validated with two types of positioning strategies: Code-PPP using GPS pseudorange measurements and PPP-RTK including carrier phase measurements. In these performance checkups, only single-frequency measurements have been used and integer ambiguities were estimated as float numbers instead of fixed integers. The result shows that, with BPAC and HPAC corrections, the horizontal accuracy is 46% and 63% higher, respectively, compared to that obtained without application of SPARTN corrections. Also, the average horizontal and vertical RMSE values with HPAC are 17 cm and 27 cm, respectively.

Current differential GPS (DGPS) system consists of reference station (RS), integrity monitor (IM), and control station (CS). The RS computes the pseudorange corrections (PRC) and generates the RTCM messages for broadcasting. The IM receives the corrections from the RS broadcasting and verifies that the information is within tolerance. The CS performs realtime system status monitoring and control of the functional and performance parameters. The primary function of a DGPS integrity monitor is to verify the correction information and transmit feedback messages to the reference station. However, the current algorithms for integrity monitoring have the limitations of integrity monitor functions for satellite outage or anomalies. Therefore, this paper focuses on the detection and identification methods of satellite anomalies for maritime DGPS RSIM. Based on the function analysis of current DGPS RSIM, it first addresses the limitation of integrity monitoring functions for DGPS RSIM, and then proposes the detection and identification method of satellite anomalies. In addition, it simulates an actual GPS clock anomaly case using a GPS simulator to analyze the limitations of the integrity monitoring function. It presents the brief test results using the proposed methods for detection and identification of satellite anomalies.

The coverage of the NDGPS is nationwide currently and by 2007 more than 2 NDGPS signal will be available in most of Korean peninsula both coastal area and inland. The role of NDGPS beacon is transmitting pseudorange corrections however if range or pseudorange can be measured from NDGPS beacon signal, it might be possible to construct an independent regional navigation system: The range from NDGPS beacon signal can be used as additional measurements to remove GPS shadow area and to improve accuracy and reliability of GPS. Furthermore, by adding Loran-C, a regional radio navigation system without GPS can be possible. In this paper, a feasibility study on the regional positioning system using NDGPS and LORAN-C are given. The results show that the NDGPS and LORAN-C can be used as a ground based regional navigation system if requirements such as synchronization of NDGPS network, dual coverage of NDGPS, navigation algorithm for both NDGPS and LORAN-C measurements and an efficient ASF compensation method are met.
