Importation of mass production of building elements with standardization are vital way for environment-friendly architectural planning, which it makes the lifespan of a building longer than normal with easier maintenance and remodeling. The advantage might be magnified here in Korea since typical types of apartment house are dominated in our construction market. For the purpose, a series of pre-manufactured window systems is one of the optimal elements to be prototype building modules. In the design process of the system windows, lots of consideration should be involved and they include aesthetics, thermal performance, noise reduction, airtightness, and so forth. A real survey on the ready-made window systems has been performed and its optical issue related to luminous peculiarity is what is of major interest in this study. In addition, technical review on more advanced window products and their adaptable potential for the integration with fundamental architectural design elements were carried out.

A monitoring and control system, as a broker to connect work-fields with higher departs, gives a great effect on capacity and reliability of a manufacturing system. However, it is very difficult to construct an integrated monitoring control system in a shop with diverse equipment. This paper proposes a CORBA based scheme to construct an integrated system for monitoring and control of equipment in a machining shop. The system is developed by applying the object oriented technology. Thus, its design and maintenance are not only early but it can cope with variation of production situation flexibly. Finally, we introduce a prototype using a milling machine, a robot, PLC's, etc.

분산객체 기술을 이용한 분산데이터베이스 시스템 개발은 현재의 컴퓨팅 환경을 그대로 사용하면서 적은 비용으로 시스템을 개발할 수 있기 때문에 많이 사용되고 있다. 따라서 현재 학교에서 운용중인 독립형 데이터베이스 시스템을 통합하는 분산데이터베이스 시스템을 개발하면 교사와 교육 공무원 모두에게 쉽게 자료를 통합하고 관리할 수 있는 시스템이 될 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 CORBA, Java, JDBC를 이용하여 3-Tier 분산 데이터베이스 관리 시스템의 프로토타입을 설계하고 구현하고자 한다.

This paper presents a newly implemented parallel finite element procedure for contact-impact problems. Three sub-algorithms are includes in the proposed parallel contact-impact procedure, such as a parallel Belytschko-Lin-Tsay (BLT) shell element generation, a parallel explicit time integration scheme, and a parallel contact search algorithm based on the master slave slide-line algorithm. The underlying focus of the algorithms is on its effectiveness and efficiency for inclusion in future finite element systems on parallel computers. Throughout this research, a prototype code, named GT-PARADYN, is developed on the IBM SP2, a distributed-memory computer. Some numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the timing results of the procedure, discussing the accuracy and efficiency of the code.

This paper deals with an integration model of three major quality management systems. The well known global standards such as ISO 9001 quality system, Malcolm Baldrige model, and EFQM model are integrated as a prototype quality system. The proposed model is then applied to help a power generation company to select improvement tasks for enhancing quality management. Here, we discuss three quality management systems, an integration process of the three systems, the integrated model, and a real world application case.

Various computing systems are used in naval ships. Since each system has a single purpose and its applications are tightly coupled with the physical machine, applications cannot share physical resources with each other. It is hard to utilize resources efficiently in conventional naval shipboard computing environment. In this paper, we present an integration architecture for virtualized naval shipboard computing systems based on open architecture. Our proposed architecture integrates individual computing resources into one single integrated hardware pool so that the OS and applications are encapsulated as a VM. We consider the issue of varying needs of all applications in a naval ship that have different purposes, priorities and requirements. We also present parallel VM migration algorithm that improves the process time of resource reallocation of given architecture. The evaluation results with the prototype system show that our algorithm performs better than conventional resource reallocation algorithm in process time.

As enterprises use ATM networks for their private networks and as these private networks use public ATM networks for wide area communication, the need for the customers to be able to manage both private and public networks. Currently, some standardization work is being done towards providing this capability to customers. In this paper, we propose a new customer network management (CNM) system architecture for the management of both ATM a private network and a public network in a uniform way. The particular features of the proposed architecture lies in the efficient support of the complex hierarchial TMN manager-agent relationships at M3 and M4 interfaces, and the support of SNMP and CMIP integration which is necessary for the implementation of a CNM system. The TMN hierarchical many-to-many manager-agent relationships are realized by the utilization of CORBA-Based SMK (Shared Management Knowledge) implementation. We have also implemented the prototype of a ATM CNM system, and measures the performance for the demonstration of the suitability of the proposed architecture.

Enterprise Content Integration (ECI)is an IT strategy that improves enterprise' competitive advantages by integrating enterprise wide information and content into a unified view, which in turn supports efficient and effective decision making. Content Syndication Systems (CSS) is a solution that implements the ECI strategy. In semi-conductor industries, it is usual that enterprise content is scattered over tens of legacy systems. Therefore, engineers in semi-conductor companies spend a few hours to locate required engineering information on a daily basis as part of their jobs. In this paper, we develop an enterprise CSS system that integrates enterprise wide contents into a unified view that is suitable for semi-conductor industries. For this research, we first define enterprise CSS, then identify their systems requirements. Then we propose an architecture supporting the identified requirements, and present the implemented prototype. One of the most important requirements is the individualized subscription rule setting for engineering information. For this purpose, we developed methods to represent the information properties and subscription rules.

Various bioinformatics tools for biological data processing have been developed and most of them are available in public. Most bioinformatics works are carried out by a composite application of those tools. Several integration approaches have been proposed for easy use of the tools. This paper proposes a new multiagent system architecture to integrate bioinformatics tools in the perspective of workflow since the composite applications of tools can be regarded as workflows. For the easy integration, the proposed architecture employs wrapper agents for existing tools, uses XML-based messages in the inter-agent communication, and agents are supposed to extract necessary information from the received messages. This allows new tools to be easily added on the integration framework. The proposed method allows various control structures in workflow definition and provides the progress monitoring capability of the on-going workflows. We implemented a prototype system of the proposed architecture for annotating the genes of a bacterium called Sphingomonas Chungbukensis DJ77.

An international standard for the product model data, STEP, and a standard for the distributed object technology. CORBA, will play a very important role in the future manufacturing environment. These two technologies provide background for the sharing of product data and the integration of applications on the network. This paper describes a prototype CAD/CAE enviroment that is integrated on the network by STEP and CORBA. Several application servers and client software were developed to verify the proposed concept.
