  • Objectives: The Child Report of Post-traumatic Symptoms (CROPS) and the Parent Report of Post-traumatic Symptoms (PROPS) are screening measures for post-traumatic symptoms in children. The present study aimed to investigate the reliability and validity of the Korean versions of the CROPS and the PROPS. Methods: The Korean versions of the CROPS and the PROPS were administered to a sample of 304 children aged 6 to 15 years old. The internal reliability, test-retest reliability, factorial validity, predictive validity and concurrent validity were evaluated. Results: The reliability of the CROPS and the PROPS was shown to have excellent internal consistency and test-retest correlation. The single factor structure of the PROPS was good and that of the CROPS was borderline acceptable according to confirmatory factor analysis. Other validity measures such as the predictive validity and concurrent validity were also shown to be satisfactory. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that the Korean versions of the CROPS and the PROPS were reliable measures with satisfactory psychometric qualities. Because it takes less than 5 minutes to fill out the CROPS and the PROPS, respectively they can be quick and easy screening scales for assessing post-traumatic symptoms in Korean children.

  • This paper intends to prove that the props in movies can be used to communicate messages ans themes to the audience very usefully. I selected the movie "her" to investigate by the use of props. The props in the film can communicate with the audiences without a dialogue and visual. At the same time, the props can make a audiences sympathy as a role playing like a main character. As a result, the props used in the movie were explained to study their relevancy to the narratives of the movie. The props in the movie is so useful and powerful, and then image is more important than any other things in the movie as a narrative tool and storytelling.

  • Recently, the design of scaffolding systems has garnered considerable attention due to the increasing number of scaffold collapses. These incidents arise from the underestimation of imposed loads and the site-specific conditions that restrict the application of lateral restraints in scaffold assemblies. The present study is committed to augmenting the buckling resistance of vertical support members, obviating the need for supplementary lateral restraints. To achieve this objective, experimental and computational analyses were performed to assess the axial load buckling capacity of steel props, composed of two hollow steel pipes that slide into each other for a certain length. Three full-scale steel props with various geometric properties were tested to construct and validate the analytical models. The total unsupported length of the steel props is 6 m, while three pins were installed to tighten the outer and inner pipes in the distance they overlapped. Finite Element (FE) modeling is carried out for the three steel props, and the developed models were verified using the experimental results. Also, theoretical analysis is utilized to verify the FE analysis. Using the FE-verified models, a parametric study is conducted to evaluate the effect of different inserted pipe lengths on the steel props' axial load capacity and lateral displacement. Based on the results, the typical failure mode for the studied steel props is global elastic buckling. Also, the prop's elastic buckling strength is sensitive to the inserted length of the smaller pipe. A threshold of minimum inserted length is one-third of the total length, after which the buckling strength increases. The present study offers a prop with enhanced buckling resistance and introduces an equation for calculating an equivalent effective length factor (k), which can be seamlessly incorporated into Euler's buckling equation, thereby facilitating the determination of the buckling capacity of the enhanced props and providing a pragmatic engineering solution.

  • In Tongyeong Ogwangdae, the characters use many ornaments and these ornaments represent different meanings. The following results were observed from the analysis that was carried out, to find the symbolic meanings of ornaments and props, and they- were used in Tongyeong Ogwangdae. The ornaments and props used in the traditional mask play are used to effectively represent the roles, characters, situations, and certain parts of body. They put each character in a psychological mood that enables him or her to perform his or her role more realistically. This in turn moves the audience. The ornaments and the props that were used in Tongyeong Ogwangdae help the audience to understand the characters and the hidden meaning of the play. These ornaments and props can be classified into three categories namely, one representing the character's social status, one representing the role of the character, and one indicating the flow of the play.

  • This study has been made to make an observation regarding present status of the coal mine props which is desperately needed for coal production, despite of great shortage of the timber resources in this country, and investigate the effects of diffusion process on the decay resistances of the mine props as applied preservatives of Malenit and chromated zinc chloride. The results are as follows. 1. Present status of the coal mine props Total demand of coal mine props in the year of 1975 was approximately 456 thousand cubic meters. The main species used for mine props are conifer (mainly Pinus densiflora) and hardwood (mainly Quercus). Portions between them are half and half. With non fixed specification, wide varieties of timber in size and form are used. And volume of wood used per ton of coal production shows also wide range from 0.017 cubic meter to 0.03 cubic meter. 2. Decay resistance test a) The oven dry weight decreased between untreated specimen and treated specimen has not shown any significantly, although it has shown some differences in average values between them. It may be caused by the shorter length of the test. b) The strength of compression test between untreated specimen and treated specimen has also shown the same results as shown in case of weight decrease. Reasons assumed are the same. c) The amounts of the extractives in one percent of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) between untreated and treated specimen have shown the large value in case of untreated specimen than that of treated. 3. The economical benifit between untreated and treated wood when applied in field has seen better in long tenn base in case of treated wood, although the primary cost of treated wood add a little bit more cost than that of the untreated wood.

  • As measuring visual behavior by utilize eye-tracker, this study examines whether consumer concentrates on visual attention with certain object and measures visual behavior with fixation number, fixation duration, the first fixation, which are visual attention pattern of consumer about Mannequin, hanger, shelve as props of display advertising effect on clothing store. It has experimental purpose to recognize relationships in terms of regardless, appropriateness, purchase intention. During display of clothing store, first experimental consequence to measure visual behavior on consumer did appear to allocate more cautions than other props. Second, in terms of relationships with regardless, appropriateness, purchase intention from consumer, each fixation pattern about consumer's fixation number, fixation duration, the first fixation was confirmed that there is meaningful correlation with each other. Accordingly, as advertising effect of mannequin makes consumer to concentrate more visually cautious, it is translated that high favor about display product with mannequin has positive role on purchase intention. Also, there is a purpose that higher feasibility on study result provides practical point on clothing store's display marketing strategy of corporation.

  • This study proposes to find out what effects physical effort using props has on infants' ability in relation to their creative physical expression and physical self-concept. This study targets three-year-old preschoolers who attend S and T nursery, located in Yeonje, Busan, of which 16 belong to an experimental group. The research tools used in the study are the creative physical expression test by Kim Eun-Shim(1994), which is the modified version of Bae Hyun-Suck's testing tool(1990), and an altered version of the questionnaire focusing on physical self-concept by Whang Sun-Gack(2001). The experimental group is divided into a large and small sub-group and then physical activities involving props are done by these divided experimental groups once or twice a week for 12 weeks, while outdoor activities are carried out with the comparison group once or twice a week for 12 weeks. For both groups, a total of 20 experiments are done. To obtain answers to the research questions, an individual version of the T-test is conducted using means and standard variations of the experimental and comparison groups. The results of this study are as follows : 1) the physical efforts of the experimental group using props reaped more positive effects as regards creative physical expression than the comparison group, 2) the positive effect on the participants' physical self-concept is also more evident in the case of the experimental group.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between age, internal state information, and narrative structure. Another purpose was to examine how the kinds of replica play and story props affect the theme of children's narratives. The subjects were 36 4-and 5-year-olds. Children's narratives were audiotaped and analyzed accordmg to narrative structure, themes and internal state factors. The results indicated that 5-year-olds showed well organized narrative structure such as a descriptive narrative and a primary plotted narrative whereas 4-year-old presented no response and a descriptive narrative. Also, 5-year-olds used more internal state information in the narratives than 4-year-olds. The replica figures serve to remind the chiidren of story themes: the children with police props presented negative themes while children with playground props showed positive themes.
