A Study on Development of ATCS for Automated Stacking Crane using Neural Network Predictive Control

  • For a traveling crane, various control methods such as neural network predictive control and TDOFPID(Two Degree of Freedom Proportional Integral Derivative) are studied. So in this paper, we proposed improved navigation method to reduce transfer time and sway with anti-collision path for avoiding collision in its movement to the finial coordinate. And we constructed the NNPPID(Neural Network Predictive PID) controller to control the precise move and speedy navigation. The proposed predictive control system is composed of the neural network predictor, TDOFPID controller, and neural network self-tuner. We analyzed ASC(Automated Stacking Crane) system and showed some computer simulations to prove excellence of the proposed controller than other conventional controllers.

  • This paper presents yaw vibration control performances of railway vehicle featuring controllable magnetorheological damper. A cylindrical type of MR damper is devised and its damping force is evaluated by considering fluid resistance and MR effect. Design parameters are determined to achieve desired damping force level. The MR damper model is then incorporated with the governing equations of motion of the railway vehicle which includes vehicle body, bogie and wheel-set. Subsequently, computer simulation of vibration control via proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller is performed using Matlab. Various control performances are demonstrated under external excitation by creep force between wheel and rail.

Lateral vibration control of a low-speed maglev vehicle in cross winds

  • This paper presents a framework of nonlinear dynamic analysis of a low-speed moving maglev (magnetically levitated) vehicle subjected to cross winds and controlled using a clipped-LQR actuator with time delay compensation. A four degrees-of-freedom (4-DOFs) maglev-vehicle equipped with an onboard PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controller traveling over guideway girders was developed to regulate the electric current and control voltage. With this maglev-vehicle/guideway model, dynamic interaction analysis of a low-speed maglev vehicle with guideway girders was conducted using an iterative approach. Considering the time-delay issue of unsynchronized tuning forces in control process, a clipped-LQR actuator with time-delay compensation is developed to improve control effectiveness of lateral vibration of the running maglev vehicle in cross winds. Numerical simulations demonstrate that although the lateral response of the maglev vehicle moving in cross winds would be amplified significantly, the present clipped-LQR controller exhibits its control performance in suppressing the lateral vibration of the vehicle.

  • This paper proposes a robust FPID(Fuzzy Proportional Integral Derivative) controller for the LFC(load frequency control) of 2-area power system. The PID gain parameters of the proposed robust FPID controller are self-tuned by PSGM(Product Sum Gravity Method) which is very similiar to human's inference procedures. As the results of simulation, the proposed FPID controller against various load disturbances shows that it is superior to the conventional control techniques such as optimal, PID and fuzzy control in the response characteristics of frequency and tie line power flow.

  • This paper proposes a Mamdani fuzzy PID controller for controlling a process with small dead time. The controller composes of a parallel structure of fuzzy PI controller and fuzzy PD controller. Each controller has two inputs, error and change of error. Hence, the control signal of the proposed controller is the average value of the output of the fuzzy PI and PD controllers. The Mamdani fuzzy PID controller is easily to be adjusted to meet the desired control system performances both in transient state and steady state. The simulation results of the proposed Mamdani fuzzy PID controller by using the same parameters (proportional gain, integral time and derivative time) as the conventional PID controller are shown.   • This paper describes a neural network based fuzzy type PID control scheme. The PID controller is being widely used in industrial applications. however, it is difficult to determine the appropriate PID gains for (he nonlinear system control. In this paper, we re-analyzed the fuzzy controller as conventional PID controller structure, and proposed a neural network based fuzzy type PID controller whose scaling factors were adjusted automatically. The value of initial scaling factors of the proposed controller were determined on the basis of the conventional PID controller parameters tuning methods and then they were adjusted by using neural network control techniques. Proposed controller was simple in structure and computational burden was small so that on-line adaptation was easy to apply to. The result of practical experiment on the magnetic levitation system, which is known to be hard nonlinear, showed the proposed controller's excellent performance.

  • In this paper we propose a neural network precompensated PID(NNP PID) controller for load frequency control of 2-area power system. While proportional integral derivative(PID) controllers are used in power system they have many problems because of high nonlinearities of the power system So a neural network-based precompensation scheme is adopted into a conventional PID controller to obtain a robust control to the nonlinearities. The applied neural network precompen-sator uses an error back-propagation learning algorithm having error and change of error as inputand considers the changing component of forward term of weighting factor for reducing of learning time. Simulation results show that the proposed control technique is superior to a conventional PID controller and an optimal controller in dynamic responses about load disturbances. The pro-posed technique can be easily implemented by adding a neural network precompensator to an existing PID controller.

  • This paper presents a robust position tracking controller for a motor used in semiconductor equipment, utilizing the motor angle measurement. Precise position control is challenging due to the presence of uncertainties in various motor applications. The proposed controller consists of a PD (Proportional-Derivative) controller and a PIO (Proportional-Integral Observer) to estimate the system's state and equivalent disturbance compensating for the uncertainties. Since the stability alternates as the observer gain increases, we have investigated it through the closedloop root locus under the system parameters change. The analysis has showed that the inertia of the motor is the main parameter that affects it, and by adjusting the control gain appropriately, the system can be rendered to be stable even when the inertia of the motor changes. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm is validated through computer simulations, followed by a comparison of its performance with the results of a previous study.

  • Compressors in Large Multi-room air conditioning system are often driven by gas heat pumps. The advantages of GHP are their high level of heating performance and low cost because they use the LNG fuel to drive engine. We developed engine control system. The developed system controls engine speed based on proportional, integral and derivative (PID) method. This controller is designed to eliminate the need for continuous operator attention on engine revolution control. The control system includes 4 spark coil drivers, fuel drivers and relay drivers to make engine's operating more stable. The experiments of control engine revolution of this system are based on the various load conditions.
