  • This paper presents a newly developed speed sensorless drive using RLS(Recursive Least Squares) based on Neural Network Training Algorithm. The proposed algorithm based on the RLS has just the time-varying learning rate, while the well-known back-propagation (or generalized delta rule) algorithm based on gradient descent has a constant learning rate. The number of iterations required by the new algorithm to converge is less than that of the back-propagation algorithm. The RLS based on NN is used to adjust the motor speed so that the neural model output follows the desired trajectory. This mechanism forces the estimated speed to follow precisely the actual motor speed. In this paper, a flux estimation strategy using filter concept is discussed. The theoretical analysis and experimental results to verify the effectiveness of the proposed analysis and the proposed control strategy are described.

  • A numerical study is carried out on the detonation wave propagation through a T-shaped flame tube, which represents a crucial part of the combustion wave ignition (CWI) system aimed for simultaneous ignition of multiple combustion chambers by delivering detonation waves. The formulation includes the Euler equations and an induction-parameter model. The reaction rate is treated based on a chemical kinetics database obtained from a detailed chemistry mechanism. A second-order implicit time integration and a third-order TVD algorithm are Implemented to solve the theoretical model numerically. A total of more than two-million grid points are used to provide direct insight into the dynamics of the detonation wave. Several important phenomena including detonation wave propagation, degeneration, and re-initiation are carefully examined. Information obtained can be effectively used to facilitate the design and optimization of the flame tubes of CWI systems.

  • Bragg fibers, consisting of a low index core (including air) surrounded by a series of periodic layers of alternate high and low refractive index materials, each being higher than that of the core, form a 1D photonic bandgap (PBG). In view of the multitude of individual physical parameters that characterize a Bragg fiber, they offer a wide choice of parametric avenues to tailor their propagation characteristics. Owing to their unique PBG guidance mechanism, Bragg fibers indeed exhibit unusual dispersion characteristics that are otherwise nearly impossible to achieve in conventional silica fibers. Solid core Bragg fibers, amenable to fabrication by the highly mature MCVD technology, could be designed to realize broadband supercontinuum light. This talk would review our recent works on modeling of propagation characteristics, dispersion tailoring in them for applications as metro as well as dispersion compensating fibers and also as supercontinuum light generators.

  • Vibration and Noise of air conditioner are entirely determined by compressor vibration. Compressor vibration transmitted to the enclosure of air conditioner or Pipes connected compressor with heat exchanger. Enclosure generated noise and vibration. Therefore, the analysis of compressor vibration analysis is considered significant technical issue. For the reduction of vibration of compressor, it is necessary to grasp correctly vibration transmission paths and excitation sources in the compressor shell. Because, shell (Surface of compressor) shows whole vibration characteristic of compressor mechanism. In this paper, vibration intensity was applied to measure vibration energy flow on the shell. From this technique, it is possible to catch the path of vibration propagation along the one cycle and the location of vibration energy sources may change with time on the shell.

  • Nearly fully dense PZT samples both with tetragonal and with morphotropic phase boundary compositions were prepared by the conventional powder processing and sintering. A micro-indentation technique was used to evaluate the dependence of fracture toughness on remanent polarization, crack length and the direction of crack propagation. The result shows that the toughness increases with the remanent polarization along the poling direction and decreases in the transverse direction. The dependence of toughness on the remanent polarization is neither symmetric nor linear but rather shown to be saturated quickly with the increase in remanent polariztion. R-curve behaviors are observed in both poled and unpoled samples. Sequential SEM and XRD studies on annealed, poled, ground, fractured and etched samples show that domain switching is evident as a viable toughening mechanism but might depend upon the rate of crack propagation. Grain bridging is also observed as one of the active toughening mechanisms.

  • This paper is proposed a fuzzy neural network controller based on the vector controlled induction motor drive system. The hybrid combination of fuzzy control and neural network will produce a powerful representation flexibility and numerical processing capability. Also, this paper is proposed estimation and control of speed of induction motor using ANN Controller. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The error between the desired state variable and the actual one is back-propagated to adjust the rotor speed, so that the actual state variable will coincide with the desired one. The back propagation mechanism is easy to derive and the estimated speed tracks precisely the actual motor speed. This paper is proposed the theoretical analysis as well as the simulation results to verify the effectiveness of the new method.

  • This study were looks at the effect of the initial cut length or stress concentration level, on the wave forms produced by crack propagation. The signals were collected, then classified visually for each type of sample. They were put into three classes according to their shapes in the time and frequency domain. Each class should domain signals which could be correlated to a certain micro-failure mechanism that occurs during the fatigue process. Classes of these signals compared, with each sample. To see if there were any classes common to the three samples. The fatigue test attempted to determine if the initial cut length has any influence on the type of signals.

  • The initiation and propagation of detonation waves in the air/fuel spray mixture has been numerically analyzed. An improved pressure-based method has been applied to predict the transient heterogeneous reacting flows at all speeds. Numerical results indicate that variations in the temperature gradient, the droplet size, and the fuel vapor concentration have the significant effects on the development of detonation wave in the multi-phase reactive media. The interaction mechanism between the flame-generated pressure wave and the combustion wave is discussed in detail.

  • Changes in polamine titers during shoot differentiation in Cymbidium sp. (Jungfrau) protocorms were studied in order to investigate the mechanism of shoot differentiation by using auxin-inhibitors(PCIB, TIBA), hormones(GA3, ABA, BA), and phenolic compounds (2,4-dichlorophenol, catechol). The shoot differentiation and propagation of protocorms were promoted by PCIB or 2,4-dichlorophenol, and the growth of differentiated shoot were promoted by TIBA or catechol. In BA-treated protocorms, white or brown protocorms were observed. Putrescine was the most abundant polyamine during the propagation and differentiation processes. As compared with putrescine, spermidine did not show significant changes and spermine was not detected at all. Putrescine titers decreased after a temporary increase, and then again increased in the presence of GA3, ABA, 2,4-dichlorophenol, and then again increased in the presence of GA3, ABA, 2,4-dichlorophenol, catechol, or PCIB. But, in BA-treated protocorms, putrescine level was much lower than spermidine.

  • Lightweight trust mechanism with lightweight cryptographic primitives has emerged as an important mechanism in resource constraint wireless sensor based mobile devices. In this work, outlier detection in lightweight Mobile Ad-hoc NETworks (MANETs) is extended to create the space of reliable trust cycle with anomaly detection mechanism and minimum energy losses [1]. Further, system is tested against outliers through detection ratios and anomaly scores before incorporating virtual programmable nodes to increase the efficiency. Security in proposed system is verified through ProVerif automated toolkit and mathematical analysis shows that it is strong against bad mouthing and on-off attacks. Performance of proposed technique is analyzed over different MANET routing protocols with variations in number of nodes and it is observed that system provide good amount of throughput with maximum of 20% increase in delay on increase of maximum of 100 nodes. System is reflecting good amount of scalability, optimization of resources and security. Lightweight modeling and policy analysis with lightweight cryptographic primitives shows that the intruders can be detection in few milliseconds without any conflicts in access rights.
