  • While the number of passengers using urban railroads is increasing day by day, the number of complaints from passengers is also increasing. In order to resolve problems caused by poor communication between urban railroad officials and passengers in this paper. An IOS application using the Internet of Things (IoT) technology is proposed for providing safety and comfort temperature service(s) and for taking prompt action(s) of passengers complaints. In this proposal system, the temperature & humidity sensors were placed in a suitable location within the train. At the same time, transferring measurements to the remote server, allowing passengers to request their desired temperature through the IOS Application. Like this based on the collected data, I suggest a system that urban railroad officials can control temperature & humidity of the train. The proposed system was implemented by the Gwangju Metro Line 1 to validate its effectiveness.

  • Medical implant devices are one of the targets of the US's Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for tracking in case of a serious adverse event since they are directly connected to the lives of patients. The US law stipulates that the public health agency shall order implantable device makers to track their product down to the patient level if a serious adverse event has occurred or defects have been discovered; in reality, however, the agency can pass on the responsibility for tracking or recalling faulty devices to the manufacturers or use mass media. This article proposes an efficient tracking and recall management system and examines four main virtual scenarios based on such. This research seeks to suggest a system that enables FDA to perform accurate and prompt tracking and recall management for patients' enhanced safety.

  • Korea Train Express (KTX) is now leading the train industry, heralding a new renaissance of transportation and changing the old construction-oriented policy to one based on customers' needs that intends to offer better service in speed, convenience, and space creation around the railroad stations. These new policies aims to provide differentiated 'utility' based services, with the commitment to environmentally friendly 'green growth'. Nevertheless, the new policy has the unspecified 'public' as its target and tends to change bus users to train users rather than automobile users to train users. Furthermore, due to the heavy dependence on automobiles, there exists the definite limit of the new policy to attract the automobile users to train services. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the car dependence in Seoul metropolitan area. Based on the analysis using structure equation modeling, it can be described that environment consciousness and public satisfaction level affect on the car dependence. Author concludes that emotional marketing needs to go with utility marketing and Incentive marketing to weaken the heavy dependence on automobiles and to successfully prompt the change to train services.

  • The combined effects of reactivity coefficients, along with other core nuclear characteristics, determine reactor core behavior in normal operation and accident conditions. The Power Coefficient of Reactivity (PCR) is an aggregate indicator representing the change in reactor core reactivity per unit change in reactor power. It is an integral quantity which captures the contributions of the fuel temperature, coolant void, and coolant temperature reactivity feedbacks. All nuclear reactor designs provide a balance between their inherent nuclear characteristics and the engineered reactivity control features, to ensure that changes in reactivity under all operating conditions are maintained within a safe range. The $CANDU^{(R)}$ reactor design takes advantage of its inherent nuclear characteristics, namely a small magnitude of reactivity coefficients, minimal excess reactivity, and very long prompt neutron lifetime, to mitigate the demand on the engineered systems for controlling reactivity and responding to accidents. In particular, CANDU reactors have always taken advantage of the small value of the PCR associated with their design characteristics, such that the overall design and safety characteristics of the reactor are not sensitive to the value of the PCR. For other reactor design concepts a PCR which is both large and negative is an important aspect in the design of their engineered systems for controlling reactivity. It will be demonstrated that during Loss of Regulation Control (LORC) and Large Break Loss of Coolant Accident (LBLOCA) events, the impact of variations in power coefficient, including a hypothesized larger than estimated PCR, has no safety-significance for CANDU reactor design. Since the CANDU 6 PCR is small, variations in the range of values for PCR on the performance or safety of the reactor are not significant.

  • The safety and efficiency of nuclear reactors largely depend on the monitoring and control of nuclear radiation. Due to the unique nuclear-physical characteristics, Hf is one of the most promising materials for the manufacturing of the control rods and the emitters of neutron detectors. It is proposed to use the Compton neutron detector with the emitter made of Hf in the In-core Instrumentation System (ICIS) for monitoring the neutron field. The main advantages of such a detector in comparison the conventional β-emission sensors are the possibility of reaching of a higher cumulative radiation dose and the absence of signal delays. The response time of the detection is extremely important when a nuclear reactor is operating near its critical operational parameters. Taking Hf as an example, the general principles for calculating the chains of materials transformation under neutron irradiation are reported. The influence of 179m1Hf on the Hf composition changing dynamics and the process of transmutants' (Ta, W) generation were determined. The effect of these processes on the absorbing properties of Hf, which inevitably predetermine the lifetime of the detector and its ability to generate a signal, is estimated.

  • Hospital medical services are making great efforts to provide prompt medical services to patients or improve the quality of medical services by convergence patient's healthcare information. However, recent research suggests problems about safety and efficiency when trying to transmit patient's healthcare information to hospital server via radio and wireless. In this paper, we propose a color model - based patient authentication key establishment protocol method to securely transmit patient healthcare information. The proposed method extracts randomly three color information used in the color model and vectorizes the extracted arbitrary information to obtain the key information required for user authentication as the sum of orthogonal vectors to improve the efficiency. In addition, the proposed method can securely generate key information used for user authentication without using an additional encryption algorithm. In performance evaluation result, proposed method shows that the server processing time of the sensed information is 8.1% higher than the existing method and 7.7% lower than the existing method.

  • Due to the climate change, damages of human life and property caused by natural disaster have recently been increasing consistently. In South Korea, total damage by natural disasters over 20 years from 1994 to 2013 is about 1.0 million dollars. The 13% of total damage caused by heavy snow. This is smaller amount than the damage by heavy rainfall or typhoon, but still could cause severe damage in the society. In this study, the snow damage in Gangwon region was estimated using climate variables (daily maximum snow depth, relative humidity, minimum temperature) and scoio-economic variables (Farm population density, GRDP). Multiple regression analysis with enter method was applied to estimate snow damage. As the results, adjusted R-square is above 0.7 in some sub-regions and shows the good applicability although the extreme values are not predicted well. The developed model might be applied for the prompt disaster response.

  • Radiation accidents which occured in the A.E.R.I. during last ten years are described (table 1). It seemed to the authors that some of these accidents were considered to be hazardous to man body and associated installations. This report deals with the following four major accidents involving body contamination incidents that our health physicists have been experienced. 1. Over-exposures (up to 130 rem) to the total body due to the mismanipulation in the Cobalt-60 gamma irradiation facility. 2. Floor surface contamination (up to 13 mrad/hr) and its spread out due to the mishandling of radioiodine contained in the bottle. 3. Body surface contamination and 0.36 uCi radioactivity accumulated in the thyroid gland of a worker due to the inhalation of gaseous iodine-131. 4. A void capsule due to the leakage out of the radium therapeutic source (3mg\ulcorner) These accidents were treated by definitely prompt action to protect the workers and associated installations from any radiation hazards and every possible efforts were made to confine the spread of radioactive contamination as small area as possible by means of elaborate decontamination work and monitoring.

  • In this thesis, the effect of switch maintenance improvement is confirmed after testing and operating the switch monitoring system that were researched and developed originally in order to improve method of electric switch maintenance. However, as in an automatic interlocking station where a ground crew was not placed, repair and inspection could not be carried out until the maintenance person comes in case of switch problems or maintenance. In order to improve this issue, control module was installed in a monitoring system which can communicate through a data radio to a remote computer. Thus, the monitoring device can receive control information which a remote computer commands during the operation of switches. Afterward, it shows information on the real-time status of swith, in particular, anomaly situation through user interface after the switch is operated. By improving performance of the monitoring system in this way which can be managed and controled at a remote place, the prompt countermeasure system in case of disruption will be built and as a result, efficiency and convenience of maintenance improvement will be expected to increase.
