Development of Mounting Diagram Design Program for 350km/h High Speed Catenary System (최고운행속도 350km/h급 전차선로 장주도 설계프로그램 개발)

  • This study presents a development of DeCatS(Detail Design of High Speed Catenary System) which is a software to design high speed catenary system automatically. The program is developed by Korea Railroad Research Institute with the support of KHSR. A process of developing it and a comparison with LEXCAT, in order to demonstrate a preciseness of that, were performed. In the program, decision of H-beam, cantilever fitting, management of materials, automatic drawing and etc. according to input conditions can be accomplished. In this study, especially the program algorithm for the decision of mast was introduced.

A Study on Papers of Smoking Cessation Program (금연프로그램 효과분석 논문의 현황 및 방향)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze papers of smoking cessation program into method and effect 13 papers that purblished from January, 1980 to Oct., 2001 in the country and 30 papers that purblished from Jan., 1980 to Jun., 1999 in other countries were analized. The result of this study can be summarized as follows 1) The most of subjects were students(46.5%) and residents(30.2%). 2) There were a few of papers based on the Theory(9.3%). 3) Programs included education(58.3%), reward (13.9%) and support(12.5%). 4) There were experimental design(46.5%), non-experimental design(29.5%) and experimental design(25.0%). The most of papers of non-experimental desigs were significant. 5) Behavior(48.7%), knowledge(15.4%) and attitude(12.8%) were evaluated as a effect of program. Knowledge had higher significant rate than other evaluation items. 6) Programs that was from a year to two years had the highest significant rate.

  • The performance test apparatus of liquid-phase plate heat exchanger was installed and the computer program for design was developed in this study. The detail temperature distribution of hot and cold fluids in each path of heat exchanger was calculated by numerical method and the correlation for the heat transfer coefficient was defined. The heat transfer coefficients were measured using the working fluids of water and glycerine to investigate the effect of fluid viscosity. The measured heat transfer coefficients were compared with the calculated values obtained from the computer program and it was shown that error of the calculated values was generally less than 5%.

  • This paper describes the development of machining simulation program which is able to design cutter profile and 3-dimensional geometry for rotors in screw compressor. Based on the symmetric rotor profiles developed previously, cutters are designed and 3-dimensional geometries of rotors are generated by using simulation program. Symmetric rotors are manufactured by a universal milling machine, and surface geometries of them are measured by a 3-dimension scanner It is shown that simulation program developed is useful to design cutter for rotor manufacturing and to generate the 3-dimensional helicoid geometry of rotor in screw compressor.

  • This paper is to model a 3D-shape product applying mathematically the data acquired from a 3D scanner and using an Automatic Design Program. The research studied in the reverse engineering up to now has been developed continuously and surprisingly. However, forming 3D-shape solid models in CAE and CAM, based on the research, the study leaves much to be desired. Especially, analyses and studies reverse-designing automatically using measured data after manufacturing. Consequently, we are going to acquire geometric data using an 3D scanner in this study with which we will open a new field of reverse engineering by a program whic hcan design a 3D-shape solid model in a CAD-based program automatically.

  • In this study a microcomputer-aided design program has been developed to design and analysis for the digital adaptive control system. DACS(Digital Adaptive Control System) program has been written in GWBASIC language which is suitable for IBM-PC compatible. The dynamics of each element was modulized and described by linear difference equations. By the aid of this program, sampling time, the number of bits of A/D and D/A converter and the stability for the digital adaptive control system can be determined. In order to estimate the system parameters an on-line identification and a regression analysis method are utilized. The simulation results have been well agreed with the experiments. To demonstrate the utility of this program, an adaptive control system has been designed for air-heating system.

  • Human Factors Engineering(HFE) program should be developed from the early stage of the design process for Nuclear Power Plant. The HFE program is conducted in accordance with the guidance in the Standard Review Plan(SRP) NUREG 0800, Chapter 18. The major purpose of this program is to reduce the incidence of human error during the operating life of the plants. A comprehensive human factors program is prepared by KOPEC to assure that key elements of human factors involvement are not inadvertently overlooked and the early, complete, and continuing inclusion of HFE in the design process. This paper is to introduce engineering steps of the HF activities to verify that the HF involvements on man-machine interface are adequate to support safe and efficient operation of nuclear power plant. If systems are developed without sufficient consideration on the HFE in the design, such systems may cost a high price due to the malfunction of the plant induced by the human errors.

  • Thermal analysis is performed to protect the propulsion system of low-earth-orbit earth observation satellite from unwanted thermal disaster like propellant freezing. To implement thermal design adequately, heater powers for the propulsion system estimated through the thermal analysis are decided. Based on those values anticipated herein, the average power for propulsion system becomes 22.02 watts when the only one redundant catalyst bed heater is turned on. When for the preparation of thruster firing, 25.93 watts of the average power is required. All heaters selected for propulsion components operate to prevent propellant freezing meeting the thermal requirements for the propulsion system with the worst-case average voltage, i.e. 25 volts.

  • In order to educate and train proper work forces who can satisfy the industry demands, Human Resource Development Korea had developed the Korean National Occupational Standards. Following to the competency-based-curriculum and the guide lines which were developed based on this standard, the training program fur a machine design has been developed. It has been applied in several colleges and some typical examples which were carried out by students as term project are presented to show the effectiveness of the developed program.
