  • In this study, we investigated the effect of the impacting ang1e of particles, the scanning times and the stand-off distance on the surface roughness and the weight-loss rate of samples with no mask, and the wall profile and overetching of samples with different mask pattern in powder blasting of soda-lime glass. The varying parameters were the different impact angles between 50$^{\circ}$ and 90$^{\circ}$, scanning times of nozz1e up to 40 and the stand-off distances 70mm and 100mm. The widths of mask pattern were 0.2mm, 0.5mm and 1mm. The powder was alumina sharp particles, WA#600. The mass flow rate of powder during the erosion test was fixed constant at 175g/min and the blasting pressure of powder at 0.2MPa

  • To restrain contact failure, present study investigates the influence of edge machining of an indenter (punch). As for the edge machining, rounding, chamfering, and chamfering and rounding are considered. Contact mechanics is consulted to examine the traction profile and the size of the contact region which are directly influenced by the end profile of the indenter. The effect of rounding size (i.e., radius) in the case of the chamfering and rounding edge-indenter is studied. Shear traction is also evaluated within the regime of partial slip. Size of slip region and its expansion rate due to the increase of shear force are considered to investigate the shape effect of the indenter on contact failure.

  • Recently the diameter of the 5MW wind turbine reaches 126m, and the tower height is nearly the same with the wind turbine diameter. The blade will experience periodic inflow oscillation due to blade rotation inside the ground shear flow region, that is, the inflow velocity is maximum at uppermost position and minimum at lowermost position. In this study we compare the aerodynamic data between two inflow conditions, i.e, uniform flow and normal wind profile. From the computed results all of the relative errors for oscillating amplitudes increased due to the ground shear flow effect. Especially My at hub and $F_x$, $M_y$, $M_z$ at LSS increased enormously. It turns out that the aerodynamic analysis including the ground shear flow effect must be considered for fatigue load analysis.

  • In this article the effects of process parameters of inductively coupled plasma etching with $SF_6$ /$N_2$/Ar mixture gas and mask materials on the etched profile of W were investigated. While the etched profile was improved by $N_2$-addition, low working presure, and reduced $SF_6$ flow rate, the etching selectity (W against SAL resist) was decreased. Due to the difficulty of W etching with single layer resist, sputter deposited $Al_2O_3$ film was used as a hardmask. Reduction of required EB resist thickness through $Al_2O_3$ mask application could reduce proximity effect during e-beam patterning, but the etch anisotropy was degraded by decreased sidewall passiviation effect.

  • The effect of inlet velocity profile on the heat transfer coefficient in a rotating smooth channel was investigated experimentally. Three simulated inlet flow conditions of fully developed, uniform, and distorted inlet conditions were tested. The Reynolds number based on the channel hydraulic diameter was ranged from 10,000 to 30,000 and the transient liquid crystal technique was used to measure the distribution of the heat transfer coefficient in the rotating channel. Results showed that the overall heat transfer coefficient increased as the Reynolds number increased. Also, the distribution of the heat transfer coefficient was strongly affected by the inlet flow condition. Generally, the fully developed flow simulated condition showed the highest heat transfer coefficient.

  • In this study, the equivalent physical properties of the shield-slot plate that has a lot of very tiny bridge shape structures on its plane were determined by tensile tests and structural analyses. With those results in hand, numerical analyses for the deflection profile by gravity effect were carried out to compare with experimental results. The two results were shown coincident very well so that the estimated equivalent physical properties were verified enough for further studies such as curvature reduction for the shield-slot plate.

  • The initiation of steel corrosion due to chloride diffusion is predicted to consider time-dependancy of surface chloride content. the profile of chloride concentration is the following: constant condition > square root condition > linear condition From these results, the initiation of steel corrosion in concrete is reverse order of above results of chloride profile. the effect of prolongation to initiation of steel corrosion is decreased with increasing concrete cover

  • Mozart's music has been suggested to affect spatio-temporal reasoning of listeners, which has been called "Mozart effect". However, the effects of Mazart's music on human metabolism have not been known. We dissected Mozart's music into its compositional elements and studied their effects on metabolism of experimental animals. Mozart music significantly reduced cortisol level induced by stress. NMR metabolomic study revealed different urine metabolic profile according to the listening to Mozart's music. In addition, each element of music exhibited different metabolic profile. Functional MRI study also showed enhanced brain activity upon listening to Mozart's music. Taken together, Mozart's music seems to be related with brain activity, stress hormone and whole body metabolism.

  • The effect of the alignment of the contacting bodies is concerned. Tilting of a body (indenter) is regarded as a mis-alignment. Recently developed method fur evaluating the contact normal traction is introduced and discussed, in which piecewise parabolic profile is considered as a generalized contact profile. Indentation by a wedge with rounded apex is solved as an example problem. In the case of partial slip regime, the variation of shear traction is examined during the closed path of shear force by using the efficient numerical technique. Concentration of the slip region is also investigated. By evaluating the energy dissipation from the contact surface, the effect of the mis-alignment-alignment on wear is discussed.

  • In this paper, the effect of the turbulence intensity in across-wind direction on the wind load in CFD(Computational fluid dynamics) simulation was analyzed. 'Ansys fluent' software was used for CFD simulation. And the fluctuating wind speed applied to the simulation was generated according to Korean Design Standard and Von Karman wind turbulence model. The turbulence intensity in across-wind direction for simulation was applied from 0 to 100% of the turbulence intensity in along-wind direction. The analysis results showed that the turbulence intensity in across-wind direction had a particularly great effect on the wind load in across-wind direction.
