A Study to develop an ecological audit program in elementary schools for sustainability education (지속가능성 교육을 위한 초등학교 생태감사 프로그램 개발 방안)

  • The purpose of this study is to prepare a plan for the development of an ecological audit program that can be applied to the elementary school curriculum for sustainability education. School ecological audits enable students or groups of students to identify and solve the school's environmental problems on their own, thereby fostering sustainable decision-making and attitudes. As a result of the study through literature research, an ecological audit project learning program applicable to the elementary school curriculum was developed. The developed program is aimed at 6th graders and is composed of 16 steps reflecting the procedural and ecological processes of the ecological audit. In order to settle the developed program in the school site and improve the school sustainability of the developed program, it is necessary to introduce a school environment management system that can periodically monitor the school environment, strengthen the capacity of school teachers, and provide a professional certification system outside the school. In addition, with this bottom-up policy-making system, students can expect to spread a sustainable school culture through environmental education activities.

  • Math and Science Olympians participated in a study of the role of environmental influences in their talent development. The questions they got was about family and school factors contribute / or hinder to the development of their scientific talents, and the parents' child rearing styles. The questionnaires were originally developed by Campbell(1996) for cross-cultural studies. The major findings were as follows: ⑴ The professional job of the Olympians'father, the high SES, Their parents'discovering their child's talents were positive factors, ⑵ Their family support and learning environment were reported strong and positive, especially books and reading atmosphere, ⑶ The Olympians participated in the accelerated and enriched educational programs, ⑷ The quality of the class and the rigidity of the curriculum were hindering factors, ⑸ Their parents'rearing style were permissive, affective, and supportive.

Turnover Experience of Hospital Nurses in Korea (병원 간호사들의 이직 결정 과정)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to explore how hospital nurses decide to quit working as professional nurses using the grounded theory method. Method: The data was collected by individual in-depth interviews with 12 hospital nurses who recently resigned from work and it was analyzed using 'constant comparative analysis.' Result: The core category that emerged was "in search of new balance with self, work, and family". Three stages were identified: 1) "unconditionally accepting the working situation of itself," 2) "weighing advantages and disadvantages of working as a hospital nurse", and 3) "redesigning a future". Each stage contains three major strategies. The major strategies of the first stage are "maintaining a learning attitude", "enduring physical burnout," and "enduring unfair interpersonal relationships". The second stage contains "identifying advantages of working", "identifying disadvantages of working", and "comparing the advantages with the disadvantages". Lastly, the third stage includes "reassessing the aim of life", "beginning to construct an alternative life", and "deciding to quit working at a certain point". Conclusion: The results of the study will help nursing administrators in designing and implementing an effective turnover prevention program for nurses by understanding more deeply the process of turnover phenomenon among hospital nurses.

  • This study is about the solution to solve the problem - aging of fisheries worker and exodus of young adult from fisheries. We tried to find out internal improvements which are necessary for overcoming issues. After that, research about inducements and institutional improvements to drive internal improvements has done. and Current policies of Korea for securing workforce in fisheries were examined especially for Gyeongsangnam-do by literature investigation and survey The main purpose of this study is, problems of policy in order to secure Fisheries managers, identify practical obstacle and the activities and management activities performance of training education. and it is to provide evidence to policy improvement. To achieve the purpose of this study, conducted studies are as below. This study is to investigate the educational performance of Fisheries managers and its impact on their business performance using SEM and SEM-Moderate-effect. In terms of the amount of impact on business performance, the level of educational achievement and management activity outcomes had the most impact followed by excellence of educational condition and programs distinction. Therefore, in order to inspire the motivation for learning and communicate the importance of such education to Fisheries communities, there is a need to introduce a variety of methods, professional facilities. The purpose of this research is to define the problems of the Fisheries Census of Korea and to make better policies for improvement. In order to complete the purpose, the research team has firstly conducted a survey in the six regions to reinvestigate the yes or no for accuracy of the primary data related to the Fisheries Census. Moreover, the team has defined the problems of the Fisheries Census through conducting a survey for the experts and users of the fisheries statistics. Also, the team has derived the short/long term improvement of Fisheries Census through out this survey.

  • This study proposes the O P E N Triad framework as a future set of tools and perspectives for individual members and institutes to further their professional and academic potential as well as prospect and vitalize the future of the Korean Clothing and Textiles discipline through a global perspective. The millennial generation desires On-demand, Personal, Engaging, and Networked (O P E N) experiences effecting cultural change for creative and influential interaction in transactions, communication, and education. O P E N Individuals offers a WebSphere model as a holistic learning system that has a synergizing value of education across academic courses, industries, and cultures. Through a digitalized and virtualized class, it complements relevant technologies already familiar to the student population. By employing environmental scanning approaches, the most influential and viable future global issues related to the clothing and textiles discipline are identified and dialogued within O P E N Institutes. For future clothing and textiles institutes, this scanning allows them to be open to new ideas, to focus on inter-engagements, to collaborate among individuals, to associate as a part of web of people, organizations, and ideas, to personalize an institutes curricula, and to dialogue generative knowledge. O P E N Industries reveals three dominant future issues that cross academia and industry, sustainability, supply chain management, and social networking. In-depth interviews with U.S. industry experts identified interdependent gaps in global consumer experience practices and suggested the following gaps as future research areas: a standardized business model to the entrepreneurial model, strategic management to a sustainable competitive advantage, standardized to differentiated products, services and operations, market segmentation to global consumer clusters, business-driven marketplaces to consumer-engaged marketspaces, and excellent services to optimal experience.   • Nowadays, the whole world is putting in the knowledge information society by the internet which is connecting the global network. The internet enable us to see the life of the other people in real time. Most of health care professional obtain and update their new knowledge and skills through continuing education. EMTs who works five or ten shifts per day are not easy to attend continuing education session usually offered during their off-times. One of solutions to this problem would be to develop a education program which does not limit time and place. There has been increasing interest in the use of computers in medical education, but all designated facilities and teachers have no sufficient preparations for the education and training of EMT. There has been less attention to the rationale for the use and selection of applications. This article discusses an approach to the selection of medical informatics applications for the undergraduate medical curriculum. The aim of this study is to develop and evaluate a web-based continuing education program, to help EMT improve their knowledge of transfusion therapy and medical law, and to enhance their ability to contribute to the quality of patient care. The program generally was well received by EMTs. The program is a useful adjunct to the existing continuing education program. It also could be used in EMT student education and other health sciences.

  • The present study was to investigate child care teather's and parents's recognition and need about child counseling and to analyse differences between them. The subjects for this study were 244 child care teachers and 260 mothers of the day care centers. The major finding were as follows; Most child care teachers are aware of child counseling through lecture, pre-service education, and internet. Most mothers hear about child counseling through internet. They think that child counseling is very effective for young children, especially for negative experience and emotion. Most child care teachers think that they can administer child counseling. especially daycare centers. But mothers think that special facilities is the most appropriate place by child counseling. Child care teachers and mothers regard the credibility of human being as personal characteristics required for child counseling. Counseling specialists are to be the most appropriate person for followed by child care teather's and parents. And they think that special training is needed for child counseling. but few of them receive special training. They perceive the necessity of professional education in child counseling. but they rarely experience related education of child counseling. Especially, they feel lack of time and information. They also want to apply to child counseling children education after learning it through counseling association or by observing real situations in child counseling center using morning time or during weekends. Most mothers and child care teachers know play therapy, art therapy. bibliotherapy, sand play therapy.

A Study on pre-service mathematics teachers' perceptions of the role and teaching guidance of cooperating teachers in mathematics teaching practicum (수학과 수업실습에서 실습지도교사의 지도 활동 및 역할에 관한 교육실습생들의 인식 연구)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate pre-service mathematics teachers' perceptions of the role of cooperating teachers and teacher interactions during teaching practicum. Thirty-four pre-service mathematics teachers who finished student teaching participated in the study. The researcher collected data from various sources such as a questionnaire, interviews, and written documents. According to the results of the study, more than 50 percent of the participants showed negative responses to all of the questionnaire items on teaching activities or guidance of cooperating teachers. Cooperating teachers mainly played a role in the stage of reflection of student teacher's teaching practice, and they provided specific feedback and guidance of teaching and learning methods and contents. Cooperating teachers played roles as (mathematics) teacher educators, classroom observers, and co-teachers, but their roles as teacher educators or co-teachers should be more stressed for pre-service mathematics teachers' professional development.

  • Cultures mean communication. With the whole world communicating online simultaneously, international availability has also been required in education. Especially the social media including the YouTube has opened a new age of e-learning, if not intending to do so, and the curriculum of a college or a university has kept up with the needs of our time. This study contains domestic and international professional programs equipped with internalization of a curriculum. It has suggested a role of college of arts as a customized and specialized institution which offers students advanced skills of related international industries through an internationalization of a curriculum of media and arts. It also suggests that full-time faculties need to develop a program to secure an international expertise. It can be concluded that a shift of paradigm towards education industry through social media contributes to needs to secure an international availability of a curriculum.

  • The purpose of this study was to offer suggestions for students, teachers, and parents, respectively, to develop effective gifted education programs in Korea by examining the programs from Vanderbilt Programs for Talented Youth (PTY) at Tennessee in the USA. The method is based on the analyses of PTY web pages, recent materials on programs from PTY, interviews with the executive director of PTY, participation in the endorsement program, and observation in SAVY(Saturday Academy at Vanderbilt for the Young) program. In order to improve gifted education programs in Korea, the results indicate as follows: in respect to students, early identification and education, interdisciplinary humanities curriculums, integrated curriculum models, and information of individual learning plans are essential; in regards to teachers, tailored gifted teacher programs and gifted endorsement programs are necessary; in consideration of parents, programs for supporting parents' groups with professional gifted educators are indispensible.
