Vehicular network is one of the most important subjects for researchers in recent years. Anycast routing protocols have many applications in vehicular ad hoc networks. The aim of an anycast protocol is sending packets to at least one of the receivers among candidate receivers. Studies done on anycast protocols over vehicular networks, however, have capability of implementation on some applications; they are partial, and application specific. No need to say that the lack of a comprehensive study, having a strong analytical background, is felt. Mathematical modeling in vehicular networks is difficult because the topology of these networks is dynamic. In this paper, it has been demonstrated that vehicular networks can be modeled based on time-expanded networks. The focus of this article is on geographical anycast. Three different scenarios were proposed including sending geographic anycast packet to exactly-one-destination, to at-least-one-destination, and to K-anycast destination, which can cover important applications of geographical anycast routing protocols. As the proposed model is of MILP type, a decentralized heuristic algorithm was presented. The evaluation process of this study includes the production of numerical results by Branch and Bound algorithm in general algebraic modeling system (GAMS) software and simulation of the proposed protocol in OMNET++ simulator. The comprehension of the result of proposed protocol and model shows that the applicability of this proposed protocol and its reactive conformity with the presented models based on presented metrics.
Machines, cities and bodies have been evolved together for a long time, and the recent development of information and communication technologies has transformed cities and bodies into new forms. Concerned with the relations between machines, cities and bodies, this paper explores how mobile networks are related with the physical space of the city and the psychological space of the body. The paper is organised into four main sections. First, it provides a theoretical review of the ways in which mobile networks transform urban spaces and human bodies. Secondly, it explains the generation of mobile networks through technological and institutional changes in Korea. Thirdly, it looks at the socio-spatial scales and time-space landscapes of mobile networks in relation to mobile users' motions and practices in their everyday lives. Finally, it attends to the ways in which mobile networks involve the production of paradoxical emotional spaces in relation to mobile users' emotions and desires to be dis/connected with mobile networks.

This study proposes an articulated robot control system using an on/off-line robot graphic simulator with multiple networks. The proposed robot control system consists of a robot simulator using OpenGL, a robot controller based on a DSP(TMS320) motion board, and the server/client communication by multiple networks. Each client can control the real robot through a server and can compare the real robot motion with the virtual robot motion in the simulation. Also, all clients can check and analyze the robot motion simultaneously through the motion image and data of the real robot. In order to show the validity of the presented system, we present an experimental result for a 6-axis vertical articulated robot. The proposed robot control system is useful, especially, in the industrial fields using remote robot control as well as industrial production automation with many clients.
Parallel lines are often used to increase production rate in many manufacturing systems where the main line splits into several lines in parallel, and after some operations, they merge into a main line again. Queueing networks with finite buffers have been widely used for modeling and analyzing manufacturing systems. This paper provides an approximation technique for multi-server two-stage networks with merge configuration and blocking which will be a building block for analysis of general manufacturing systems with parallel lines and merge configuration. The main idea of the method is to decompose the original system into subsystems that have two service stations with multiple servers, two buffers and external arrivals to the second stage are allowed. The subsystems are modeled by level dependent quasi-birth-and-death (LDQBD) process.
Contemporary global space economy is so dynamic that any one specific structural force can not explain the whole dynamic processes or trajectories of spatial industrial development. The major purpose of this paper is extending the traditional notion of industrial districts to functioning and development of new industrial districts with relation to the development of high technology industries. Several dynamic forces, which are dominated in new industrial districts in the modern space economy, are incorporated in the formation and dynamic aspects of new industrial districts. Even though key forces governing Marshallian industrial district are localization of small firms, division of labor between firms, constructive cooperation, and industrial atmosphere, Marshall points out a possibility of growing importance of large firms and non-local networks in the districts with changes of external environments. Some of Italian industrial districts can be regarded as Marshallian industrial districts in broader context, but the role of local authorities or institutions and local embeddedness seem to be more important in the Italian industrial districts. More critical implication form the review of Marshallian industrial districts and Italian industrial districts is that the industrial districts are not a static concept but a dynamic one: small firm based industrial districts can be regarded as only a specific feature evolved over time. Dynamic aspects of new industrial districts are resulting from coexistence of contrasting forces governing the functioning and formation of the districts in contemporary global space economy. The contrasting forces governing new industrial districts are coexistence of flexible and mass production systems, local and global networks, local and non-local embeddedness, and small and large firms. Because of these coexistence of contrasting forces, there are various types of new industrial districts. Nine types of industrial districts are identified based on local/non-local networks and intensity of networks in both suppliers and customers linkages. The different types of new industrial districts are described by differences in production systems, embeddedness, governance, cooperation and competition, and institutional factors. Out of nine types of industrial districts, four types - Marshallian; suppliers hub and spoke; customers hub and spoke; and satellite - are regarded as distinctive new industrial districts and four additional types - advanced hub and spoke types (suppliers and customers) and mature satellites (suppliers and customers) - can be evolved from the distinctive types and may be regarded as hybrid types. The last one - pioneering high technology industrial district - can be developed from the advanced hub and spoke types and this type is a most advanced modern industrial district in the era of globalization and high technology. The dynamic aspects of the districts are related with the coexistence of the contrasting forces in the contemporary global space economy. However, the development trajectory is not a natural one and not all the industrial districts can develop to the other hybrid types. Traditionally, localization of industries was developed by historical chances. In the process of high technology industrial development in contemporary global space economy, however, policy and strategies are critical for the formation and evolution of new industrial districts. It needs formation of supportive tissues of institutions for evolution of dyamic pattern of high technology related new industrial districts. Some of the original distinctive types of new industrial districts can not follow the path or trajectory suggested in this paper and may be declined without advancing, if there is no formation of supportive social structure or policy. Provision of information infrastructure and diffusion of an entrepreneurship through the positive supports of local government, public institutions, universities, trade associations and industry associations are important for the evolution of the dynamic new industrial districts. Reduction of sunk costs through the supports for training and retraining of skilled labor, the formation of flexible labor markets, and the establishment of cheap and available telecommunication networks is also regarded as a significant strategies for dynamic progress of new industrial districts in the era of high technology industrial development. In addition, development of intensive international networks in production, technology and information is important policy issue for formation and evolution of the new industrial districts which are related with high technology industrial development.
We propose an efficient algorithm for the purpose of satisfying a wide range of design constraints represented with equality and inequality equations as well as production rules. The algorithm employs simulated-annealing and a production rule inference engine and works on design constraints represented with networks. The algorithm fulfills equality constraints through constraint satisfaction processes like variable elimination while taking into account inequality constraints and inferring production rules. It can also reduce the load of the optimization procedure if necessary. We demonstrate the implementation of the algorithm with the result on machine tool design.

This paper presents an optimization formulation for resource scheduling in Critical Resource Diagramming (CRD) of production scheduling networks. A CRD network schedules units of resources against points of needs in a production network rather than the conventional approach of scheduling tasks against resource availability. This resource scheduling approach provides more effective tracking of utilization of production resources as they are assigned or 'moved' from one point of need to another. Using CRD, criticality indices can be developed for resource types in a way similar to the criticality of activities in Critical Path Method (CPM). In our supply chain model, upstreams may choose either normal operation or expedited operation in resource scheduling. Their decisions affect downstream's resource scheduling. The suggested optimization formulation models resources as CRD elements in a production two-stage supply to minimize the total operation cost
On global interconnectivity, the activation of real-time and worldwide contents will permeate and impact all aspects of day-to-day life well throughout this century. In managing contents and models, we too will see the impact of this rapidly changing environment. The real time availability of contents pertaining to a companys supply chain through means of the Internet and mobile networks(e.g., the IMT-2000) will necessitate a change in decision-making processes for effective management of contents and models. To increase the availability of many contents and models, a management system should have adaptive function in proving adequate content and model for companies. In the respect of management of contents and models, this paper discusses a production mechanism of meta-knowledge for effectively managing contents and models. Through two experimental analyses with the production mechanism, it is proven that the system enabling adaptive contents and models provision goes beyond existing ones in view of efficiency of management of contents and models in the wire and wireless networks.
Global production networks (GPNs) emerged as multinational companies strategically relocated different stages of their value chain over many regions. Since GPNs require moving materials, parts, components and finished products across national borders multiple times, as well as coordinating it efficiently, they are intensified further within an integrated region. Within the region, developed countries which enjoy a comparative advantage in higher value-added tasks specialize in the production of ICT parts and components and exhibit high export RCA indices while developing countries show high import RCA indices. But, as developing countries upgrade technological capabilities and achieve industrial upgrading through participation in GPNs, their level of sophistication improves. East Asian countries have participated in GPNs to a greater degree when compared to countries in other regions because of a variety of factors. They have benefited much as shown by a significant increase in the level of ICT sophistication and export shares, which in turn led to uneven regional developments of GPNs in the ICT parts and components industry.
The parameter design is the most emphasized measure by researchers for a new products development. It is critical for makers to achieve simultaneously in both the time-to-market production and the quality enhancement. However, there are difficulties in practical application, such as (1) complexity and nonlinear relationships co-existed among the system's inputs, outputs and control parameters, (2) interactions occurred among parameters, (3) where the adjustment factors of Taguchi's two-phase optimization procedure cannot be sure to exist in practice, and (4) for some reasons, the data became lost or were never available. For these incomplete data, the Taguchi methods cannot treat them well. Neural networks have a learning capability of fault tolerance and model free characteristics. These characteristics support the neural networks as a competitive tool in processing multivariable input-output implementation. The successful fields include diagnostics, robotics, scheduling, decision-making, prediction, etc. This research is a case study of spherical annealing model. In the beginning, an original model is used to pre-fix a model of parameter design. Then neural networks are introduced to achieve another model. Study results showed both of them could perform the highest spherical level of quality.
