  • Managing uncertainty or discontinuity in an innovation is still a challenge to most companies. For sustainable corporate survival over the long term, one of the problems caused by discontinuous innovation is the innovator's dilemma. In specific, the dynamics between discontinuous innovation and incumbents inspires the interestof researchers and managers. This paper employs catastrophe theory as a theoretical basis to explain the driving force of new discontinuous change. In other words, we extract the control variables overcoming innovation dilemma by interpreting the dynamics of corporate strategy for discontinuous innovation from the perspective of catastrophe theory. First, we define four types of discontinuity such as technology discontinuity, product discontinuity, business discontinuity, and consumer preference discontinuity. Second, we analyze the dynamics of the competition between companies by interpreting the cases of discontinuous innovation. This analyzing process enables us to identify the control variable which can, in advance, respond to the discontinuous situation.

Therefore, the present research focused on the comparison of Korean and Chinese consumers. We examined how service quality would affect relationship quality and customer loyalty. Research design, data, and methodology - Surveys were distributed to 235 Korean and 220 Chinese consumers who have visited a Korean duty free shop. We analyzed frequency analysis, mean difference analysis, and reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation model analysis, and multi-group analysis. Results - First, perceived tangibles, responsiveness, empathy, assurance, price benefits, product diversity, and IT convenience of duty free shop service all appeared to be positive effect on customer satisfaction; at the same time, only tangibles, responsiveness, empathy, assurance, and price benefits positively affected customer trust. Secondly, customer satisfaction and trust that are the components of the relationship quality appeared to be positive effect on customer loyalty. Thirdly, customers' satisfaction was found to play a full mediating role effect among all of the service quality factors with customer loyalty; however, customer trust was found to have the mediating effects only with tangibles, empathy, assurance, and price benefits. Fourthly, we found a difference between how service quality influences relationship quality and how service quality influences customer loyalty as a function of different nationality. As a result, it appeared that price benefits and IT convenience affected customer satisfaction more among Koreans than among Chinese. Finally, it appeared that customer satisfaction and trust affected customer loyalty more among Chinese than among Koreans. Conclusions - The results of this study contribute to the theoretical knowledge, but also provide strategic alternatives to enhance differentiation, international competence of enterprises led by duty free shop and service quality improvement and customer loyalty of enterprises are drawn as a foundation for constructing international customer relationship in future global era.

  • The dissemination of smart devices has made a lot of changes in overall social activities. In particular, people use various types of smart devices in their spare time, such as watching video clips, but there is a lack of research on external factors influencing the attitude toward using such devices. Therefore, in this study, the effects of video viewing environmental factors (e.g. screen size and video length) and personal factors (e.g. gender and need for entertainment) on perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and attitude to use devices based on technology acceptance model. As a result of analyzing 660 users having different smart devices, the attitude to use smart devices is more positive as the screen size increases, but there is no difference according to gender. In addition, while the length of video clips does not affect the attitude to use, the need for entertainment positively affects the attitude to use. Based on the results of this study, we expect that it can be used for optimized customer marketing and management strategy that integrates product development and video content production in consideration of factors such as video viewing environmental factors and personal factors.

  • Contemporary fashion companies have been planning marketing strategies that can promote brands and products more effectively for satisfying consumers' increasingly diversified needs. For this reason, retail spaces have continued to evolve and the modern concept of pop-up stores appeared through this process. Therefore, the object of this study was to research domestic pop-up fashion store cases by collecting article data. These data are from Internet fashion-specialty sites and analyze the types and characteristics of pop-up fashion stores by providing basic information that will be useful in the pop-up fashion stores of companies when they establish their marketing strategies. This study utilized the content analysis method and derived the results by using SPSS Statistics. As a result of this study, the type of "pop-up fashion stores opening in distribution enterprises" comprised the highest percentage of the whole store types and the pop-up fashion stores' management purposes were focused on product introduction, promotion, and market testing. As time passed, not only did pop-up fashion stores' growth rate increased, but also the types of pop-up fashion stores have become more diverse. In other words, contemporary fashion companies are utilizing more pop-up fashion stores as a marketing strategy than before. However, due to the short history of domestic pop-up fashion stores, the variety of research is still insufficient, so more extensive research on pop-up fashion stores is required.

  • The hardware-based software has been loaded in almost all industrial fields including the embedded system field. As it is increasingly important to control product quality, the more businesses are expending great quality cost. However, most domestic corporations in Korea are bent on spending more money solving problems caused by poor quality rather than prevention of quality loss cost. Therefore, it's time to improve to use quality prevention cost efficiently. As for this, there has been a growing interest in controlling quantitative quality, but the managing activities for quantitative quality require a high maturity process, belonging to Level 4 and 5. So it is necessary that statistical quality control activities should be fulfilled. This study introduces various measures to build up quality control among the process areas of TMMi Level 5 to help establish the high maturity test processes of statistical quality control.

  • This study explores the evolution of technical innovation over time. It focuses on sectors of the information technology because this industry can be referred to as one of the most dynamic industries of all times. Following evolutionary theorists, we argue that technological change is gradual and that superior firms and technologies are reward by the' selection' environment. In the initial phase of the industry life cycle, technological change is expected to be radical and uncertainty is high. Over time a product or technology is likely to arise which stands out above all other products or technologies. These so-called 'basic designs' serve as sorts of 'technological guideposts' for further developments in the technology. Once a basic design established, technological progress tends to follow consistent paths or trajectories. The cumulative character of technological progress facilitates a rapid expansion of the boundaries of the technology until the natural limits of the technology are approached and technological progress slows down. Following ecological theories, supply-side developments in the industry are described on the basis of five different organizational types. On the basis of this pattern of market and technological evolution we came up with seven basic propositions.
