  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to confirm the moisturizing effects of Herbal cosmetics containing Sinhyotakrisan(SHTL) extracts on facial skin. Methods : A total of 23 women who visited Semyung Oriental Medical Center from January 10th, 2014 to Feburary 12th, 2014 were included in the study. Provided both cosmetics containing Sinhyotakrisan extract and control products, all the subjects applied one of them to half face and another to remaining half for 4 weeks. We observed change of skin hydration, skin elasticity, skin scale in 0 week, 2 weeks, and 4weeks. Statistical anyalysis was performed by using SPSS, and statistical significance was achieved if the proability was less than 5%(p<0.05).Results : 1. After 4 weeks of using SHTL, skin hydration showed a statistically significant increase compared with using control product(p=0.011). And improvement rate also did(p=0.031). 2. After 4 weeks of using SHTL, skin elasticity showed statistically significant increase compared with using control product(p=0.025). But improvement rate didn't showed statistically significant increase(p=0.068). 3. After 4 weeks of using SHTL, skin scale showed a statistically significant decrease compared with using control product(p=0.029). And improvement rate also did(p=0.047).Conclusions : Considering the above results, herbal cosmetics containing Sinhyotakrisan extracts were effective for skin moisturizing.

  • The concept of cost of quality has become important economic measures of quality issues for several decades. Most of the research to date has focused on the problem and solution under static business conditions. However, some researchers have found that prevention cost of COQ is one of the expenses of investment and the payback will be shown by the improvement of product quality. These approaches have considered cost of quality issues based on a time factor. It means that there is a tradeoff between prevention/appraisal costs and failure costs. Based on a capital budgeting approach, this research reviews the economics of quality improvement activities and proposes the decision criteria to justify quality improvement activities.

  • The process of producing software differs in many aspects from that of traditional manufacturing. Software is not manufactured in the classical sense. Development of software more closely resembles the development effort that goes into design new product [1-3]. In this article, we first describe the foundations of process improvement, which all processes can share. The process improvement differences between software and manufacturing process are then discussed, and a defect driven process inspection and improvement is introduced. Based on the discussion, two experiments were designed and the results of the results were collected. Through the comparison, we found that some efficient quality improvement approaches can be easily adapted in the software improvement and that the inspection efficiency is also significant.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the range of defects mentioned in the Product Liability (PL) and to establish an objective basis and grounds for the analysis of accidents expected to happen by analyzing and presenting the external flame pattern and electrical characteristics of an LED streetlight lamp, a new lighting lamp. From the analysis of the cross-section of a cable carbonized by an external flame, it was observed that the wire's strand and insulation material had solidly adhered, and that greater voids were formed at the surface than at the center. Irregular carbide lumps were formed in the globe directly exposed to the flame, and the globe carbonized by the indirect flame showed characteristics that they had melted and flowed downward. It was found that the forward and backward resistances of the normal LED were approximately 1.74 [$M{\Omega}$] and 140 [$M{\Omega}$], respectively. The lamp burnt by the strong flame exhibited infinite forward and backward resistances and the LED did not emit light. The carbonized LED lamp was gray and exhibited fine delaminations. According to the Product Liability, a product defect signifies a simple product defect. Most of the defects were caused by the lack of stability, and the defect of the product itself occurred during the design and manufacture. The defects in warnings and markings include an insufficiency of handling manuals and warnings, expressive warranty violations, defective markings, etc. In order to prevent an accident resulting from a product, it is necessary to prepare safety warnings and documentation, establish clear-cut lines of liabilities, and subscribe insurances. However, it could be seen that important factors against the Product Liability were product improvement, response to compensation requests and law suits, credit restoration, etc.

  • The purpose of this study was to propose a "user experience (UX)-centered product development process" so that the product design development process using the service design process can be systematized and used in practice. In a situation in which usability research on office phones is lacking compared to general home phones, this study expands to a product-based service design point of view rather than simple product development, intending to research ways to provide user experience value through office phone design in smart office. This study focused on extracting UX-centered user needs using the service design process and developing product design that realizes user experience value. In particular, the service design process was applied to systematically extract user needs and experience value elements in the product development process and to discover ideas that were converged with product-based services. For this purpose, the "Double Diamond Design Process Model," which is widely used in the service design field, was adopted. In addition, a product design development process was established so that usability improvement plans, user experience value elements, and product-service connected ideas could be extracted through a work-flow in which real users and people from various fields participate. Based on the double diamond design process, in the "Discover" information collection stage, design trends were identified mainly in the office phone markets. In the "Define" analysis and extraction stage, user needs were analyzed through user observation, interview, and usability survey, and design requirements and user experience issues were extracted. Persona was set through user type analysis, and user scenarios were presented. In the "Develop" development stage, ideation workshops and concept renderings were conducted to embody the design, and people from various fields within the company participated to set the design direction reflecting design preference and usability improvement plans. In the "Deliver" improvement/prototype development/evaluation stage, a working mock-up of a design prototype was produced and design and usability evaluation were conducted through consultation with external design experts. It is meaningful that it established a "UX-centered product development process" model that converged with the existing product design development process and service design process. Ultimately, service design-based product design development process was presented so that I Corp.'s products could realize user experience value through service convergence.

  • Customer expectations and requirements for products play an important role in product planning for companies and decision making process for the consumer. These expectations are expressed by product qualities that consumers consider important when they purchase. Therefore, to identify quality elements that reflect consumer requirements would be a useful guide for companies. The purposes of this study are to find out quality factors of apparel product, to identify apparel product quality elements using Kano's theory, to find attributes of product which improvement are required. Women over 20 years-old from metropolitan areas in South Korea participated in the study and a quota sampling method was used. A questionnaire was arranged with four separate subject sections, importance of quality, Kano's questionnaires, and demographics. Data from 525 questionnaires were used for the statistical analysis. The results were as follows: Six dimensions of product quality(i.e., usefulness, performance, aesthetic, symbol, individuality and appearance) were identified. According to Kano's quality elements, performance was categorized into must-be quality which could lead to product dissatisfaction. Usefulness and appearance were categorized into one-dimensional quality which lead to both satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Aesthetic, symbol, and individuality was categorized into attractive quality which could lead to satisfaction. Findings of this study provide both industry and academic researchers with a guide to increase customer satisfaction in the product development process.

  • A robust direct adaptive controller with respect to additive and multiplicative unmodeled dynamics is designed. A new term, proportional to the product of the bounded tracking error and normalizing signal, is added to the conventional control input for improvement of robustness and performances of an adaptive system. It is shown by the mathematical analysis and simulation results that the stability of the closed loop system is guaranteed and the performance of the system is improved.

  • In this experimental study, aluminum hotforging was conduct to get superior pistion to cast piston. Cast structure of billet is destroyed, harmful defects is removed by forging process. We proposed the direction od die design by observing formability of product according to die shape. The microstructure of forged products with different preform was investigated to determine inital billet shape. We proposed appropriate heat treatment condition for improvement of mechanical properties.
