A Study on the Optimization of Water Balance Control in the Intermittent PEM Fuel Cell

  • One of the water management goals in PEM fuel cell is to avoid flooding and drying in the membrane, therefore the air humidification process is required. In order to increase water removal out of the membrane, the water management system may require the dehumidification process and it also requires a large space for application, moreover the process time is slow. In conformity with this fact, this present study proposes an advanced dynamic fuel cell water management which can be an intermittent optimization control using air flow rate instead of the air humidity as an variable in the optimization process. The results of this study have shown that the membrane flooding and drying can be avoided after being assisted by air velocity controlling method.

GTAW Double Torch의 육성용접 공정최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Overlay Welding Process Optimization of GTAW by Double Torch)

  • 본 연구에서는 STS316 스테인리스강에 가스텅스텐아크용접을 수행하였다. 더블토치 장치를 이용하여 스텔라이트계 육성용접을 실시하였고, 다구찌 기법을 적용하여 경도 측정값에 대한 응답변수를 산출하여 공정 최적화를 도출하였다. 또한 이 공정변수가 육성용접의 특성에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 다구찌 기법에 의한 육성용접의 공정설계에 있어서 다중응답 변수를 고려한 최적공정설계는 매우 유효한 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 각각의 응답변수에 대한 공정변수의 기여도 및 기여도에 대한 영향을 손쉽게 분석할 수 있었다. 육성용접에서 중요한 기계적 특성 요소인 경도값을 고려한 최적공정 조건은 전류 105 A, 전압 18V, 예열온도 $200^{\circ}C$, 후열온도 $100^{\circ}C$로 확인 되었다. 더블토치를 이용한 가스텅스텐아크용접의 최적조건에서 제작된 시험편의 경우 단일 토치를 사용 하였을 때 보다 더블토치를 사용하는 조건에 의해 제작된 시험편의 경우 경도는 8.19% 높은 양호한 특성을 나타내었다.

고강도강 프런트 사이드멤버의 응력분포 최적화를 통한 스프링백 저감 (Stress-Based Springback Reduction of an AHSS Front Side Member)

  • Optimization is carried out to determine process parameters which reduce the amount of springback and improve shape accuracy of a deep drawn product in sheet metal forming process. The study uses the amount of stress deviation along the thickness direction in the deep drawn product as an indicator of springback instead of springback simulation. The scheme incorporates with an explicit elasto-plastic finite element method for calculation of the final shape and the stress deviation The optimization method adopts the response surface method in order to seek for the optimum condition of process parameters such as the blank holding force and the draw-bead force. The present scheme is applied to design of the variable blank holding force in an U-draw bending process and the application is further extend ε d to the design of draw-bead force in a front side member formed with advanced high strength steel (AHSS) sheets of DP60. Results show that design of process parameter is well performed to decrease the stress deviation through the thickness and to reduce the amount of springback. The present analysis provides a guideline in a design stage for controlling the springback based on the finite element simulation of the complicated parts.

실험계획법을 이용한 측면 에어백 인플레이터 최적 설계 (Optimizing Design of Side Airbag Inflator using DOE Method)

  • For side airbag, the pipe type inflators have been wide used while the disk type inflators have been used for front airbag. For helping to prevent injury and death the airbag inflator system should be design with great care. The present study deal with optimizing the design of side airbag inflator by finite element analysis and design of experiment method. An optimization process was integrated to determine the optimum design variable values related to the side airbag inflator. Free shape optimization method has been carried out to find a optimal shape on an side airbag inflator model. Optimization of the air bag inflator was successfully developed using Sharpe optimization was carried out to find a new geometry. The improved results compared to the base design specification were achieved from design of experiment and optimization.

  • The paper describes the study of concurrent subspace optimization(CSSO) for coupled multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) techniques in mechanical systems. This method is a solution to large scale coupled multidisciplinary system, wherein the original problem is decomposed into a set of smaller, more tractable subproblems. Key elements in CSSO are consisted of global sensitivity equation(GSE), subspace optimization (SSO), optimum sensitivity analysis(OSA), and coordination optimization problem(COP) so as to inquiry valanced design solutions finally, Automatic differentiation has an ability to provide a robust sensitivity solution, and have shown the numerical numerical effectiveness over finite difference schemes wherein the perturbed step size in design variable is required. The present paper will develop the automatic differentiation based concurrent subspace optimization(AD-CSSO) in MDO. An automatic differentiation tool in FORTRAN(ADIFOR) will be employed to evaluate sensitivities. The use of exact function derivatives in GSE, OSA and COP makes Possible to enhance the numerical accuracy during the iterative design process. The paper discusses how much influence on final optimal design compared with traditional all-in-one approach, finite difference based CSSO and AD-CSSO applying coupled design variables.

Shape Optimization of the H-shape Spacer Grid Spring Structure

  • In pressurized light water reactor fuel assembly, spacer grids support nuclear fuel rods both laterally and vertically. The fuel rods are supported by spacer grid springs and grid dimples that are located in the grid cell. The support system allows for some thermal expansion and imbalance of the fuel rods. The imbalance is absorbed by elastic energy to prevent coolant flow- induced vibration damage. Design requirements are defined and a design process is established. The design process includes mathematical optimization as well as practical design method. The shape of the grid spring is designed to maintain its function during the lifetime of the fuel assembly. A structural optimization method is employed for the shape design. Since the optimization is carried out in the linear range of finite element analysis, the optimum solution is verified by nonlinear analysis. A good design is found and the final design is compared with the initial conceptual design. Commercial codes are utilized for structural analysis and optimization.

  • The objective of this paper is to provide an inventory control policy for the system that carries a single item with a multiple demand classes, when the demand is Poisson distributed random variable. The inventory control process includes the process of determining the reorder point, and the process of inventory control during the lead time. The goal of the optimization process is to achieve the service level of each demand class as well as the system-wide total service level at a preset desired service level while sustaining a minimum average inventory.

  • Recently developed automotive components are of lightweight nature, providing automobiles with a high fuel efficiency and performance. In response to those trends of car developments, this study proposes a structural optimization method for the lower control ann. Lightweight design of lower control am can be achieved through two approaches: design and material technology. In this research, the former includes optimization technology, and the latter the technologies for selecting aluminum as a steel-substitute material. In this research, the design of experiments(DOE) built in ANSYS WORKBENCH are utilized to determine the optimum shape of a Lower Control Arm. And optimum design is compared first model and reduced design variable model that considered sensitivity using orthogonal array.

디이젤 엔진의 크랭크축 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Optimization of Crankshaft in Diesel Engine)

  • In this study, the optimum design is carried out upon the crankshaft of in-line 6-cylinder internal combustion diesel engine with the mechanical analysis for the layout design, which is standard calculation whose process contains quadratic curve fitting method and quasi newton method about cost function, design variables and constraint conditions, Without finite element analysis, this process in wich mechanical analysis is performed upon the most critical part in crankshaft gives necessary and satisfied output in layout design and saves time and cost in developing a new diesel engine. In this study, also, the 3-dimensional finite element method is used in confirming the standard calculation for the optimization of crankshaft and the shape optimization in crankweb is obtained.

물/유기용매 분리를 위한 증류-투과증발막 혼성공정의 최적화 (Optimization of Distillation-Pervaporation Membrane Hybrid Process for Separation of Water/Organic Solvent Mixtures)

  • 공비점이 존재하거나 상대휘발도 차이가 적은 2성분 혼합물은 단일 증류탑으로 분리하기 어렵다. 이때 혼합물에서 분리가 어려운 영역을 투과증발막을 사용하여 분리하면 효율적인 공정을 설계할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 물-유기용매 혼합물을 분리하기 위한 증류-투과증발막 혼성공정을 제시하고, 물-초산 혼합물과 물-에탄올 혼합물의 분리공정을 각각 모사하였다. 증류탑 상부 흐름이 친수성 막을 통과하여 물을 높은 순도로 분리하는 공정을 모사하였다. 실험과 문헌에서 얻은 친수성 막의 투과도를 토대로 막 모델을 만들어 막 면적을 계산하였다. 제시한 공정의 최적화를 위해, 목적함수를 연간 총 비용으로 정하고 주요 설계 변수들을 최적화 변수로 하여 최적화 문제를 구성하였다. 또한, 혼성공정의 각 최적화 변수의 변화에 따른 목적함수 값의 변화 추세를 나타내고 최적화 변수를 최적점에 가까운 값으로 쉽게 추측할 수 있는 방법을 제안하였다.
