Current CAD systems are good enough to be used as a tool to manipulate three-dimensional shapes. This is a very important capability to be owned by a design tool because a major portion of designers'activities is spent on the shape manipulation in the design detailing process. However, the whole design process involves a lot more than the, shape manipulation. Currently, these remaining tasks, mostly logical reasoning process for the function realization together with structure decomposition in the top-down manner, are processed in the designer's brain. To support the top-down functional design process of a mechanical product, a system integrating the functional, structural and geometrical aspects of a product design in a unified environment is presented. Using this system, a designer can perform function decomposition, structure decomposition, and geometry detailing, and function verification activities in parallel and the whole design process it modeled resultantly. Once the whole design process is modeled, any redesign task can be automatically performed with the verification of the desired functions.

Pyronaridine tetraphosphate (1) is a well-known antimalarial drug. However, it required a carefully optimized production process for the manufacture of pyronaridine tetraphosphate. Each step of its manufacturing process was reinvestigated. For the cyclization of 4-chloro-2-(6-methoxy-pyridin-3-yl-amino)-benzoic acid 6 to 7,10-dichloro-2-methoxybenzo[b]-1,5-naphthyridine 5, an improved process was developed to eliminated critical process impurity (BIA). By the redesign of the formation of triphosphate salt, the purity as API grade was increased. Thus, a robust manufacturing process with an acceptable process performance has been developed to produce high quality pyronaridine tetraphosphate.

Redesign of business processes still attracts a lot of interest. There have been a variety of quantitative approaches to analyze of business process. However, to examine and determine the quality-focused characteristics of the business process, a qualitative approach should be deployed. This paper introduces a qualitative approach process analysis, especially adopted the concept of the emotional engineering which is used in the area of the product design. To analyze the qualitative aspect of the business process, the emotional adjectives for the business process are used. The proposed methodology enables to determine which of business process is better or not in a more intuitive way.
This study aims to verify the effects of the life redesign educational program based on the baby boomer (11 members of experimental group, 12 members of control group). The program was conducted for two hours two times in a week in the area of Chungnam (Total 8weeks 16sessions). First, in the result of the Wilcoxon's pairs signed-ranks test between the pre-post tests for the analysis on the program effectiveness of the experimental group of baby boomer, the baby boomer of experimental group showed an improved perception of preparing the volunteer work in the perception of preparing their old age, and there was no pre-post significant differences in the control group. In case of the experimental group, perception of the post-retirement preparation, such as a physical preparation, emotional preparation, financial preparation, volunteer work preparation and leisure activities preparation increased in average. Second, the satisfaction for the program's educational process, educational contents, educational data, educational method, instructor and the educational environment were shown to be more than 3.5 points out of 5 points in full.

MEMS design flow based on DFM concept is presented and applied to gyroscope design as a test case. It is purposed to contribute to the yield improvement by considering the process-related parameters from the design phase. After defining the performance requirements, the sensitivity analysis should be done on the draft design(s) to find out the key parameters related with the device performance. By doing so, TEG can be designed for the selected process and/or material parameters. Through a set of test runs, the process capability is characterized and the material properties are extracted using the TEG. Then we can estimate the virtual yield of the current process for the designed device by running Monte Carlo analysis where the process and/or material property variations are considered. The estimated yield will make us redesign the device to be more robust or improve the current process to have the smaller variations.
With the dynamically changing environment of society, managing change is the vital element of organizations's survival and growth. Health care organizations have expended enormous resources to restructure patient care delivery. Despite the growing literature describing these organizational innovations, there is a paucity of credible data that reflects systematic measurement and evaluation of such changes. This study examined the nurses' psychological response toward the work process redesign, newly introduced by the nursing department in a acute care hospital. The aim of the study was to figure out how nurses's general perception of change and perceived attributes of change affected their acceptance of change during the organizational transition. This was descriptive- correlational. The sample for the study included 50 head nurses and 135 staff nurses. Data was analyzed using SPSS PC+, version 10.0. The major findings of the study were as follows: First, the mean score of the perception of change was 71.2(SD=13.8) with the range of 0-100, which means nurses generally perceived change positively. There were significant differences in perception of change by gender and education level. Head nurses perceived change more positively than staff nurses. The higher education level showed the more positive view of change. Second, among the perceived attributes of change, trialability had the highest mean score, which means nurses perceived the change more positively if it is testable on a limited basis. Relative advantage was perceived the most negatively. Finally, factors influencing the acceptability of the work-process redesign were perceived comparability, complexity, relative advantage, and observability, which accounted for 43.7% of the variance in the acceptability of change. This study evaluated the preliminary effects of the nursing process for reengineering, focusing on nurses' acceptability towards change. The usefulness of this research study was to determine the factors influencing acceptance of organizational members during transitional periods of change and to suggest effective strategies for increasing adoption as well as for decreasing resistance to change.

There are many changed while a design is completed. Therefore, if the impact of the design changes is estimated, it may result in the improvement of design efficiency. But, the design changes have various types and affect other parts of the design system. Hence, it is difficult to deal with design changes directly. The purpose of this research is to develop a systematic change propagation tracing algorithm and a method of change impact analysis and then, to implement a change impact analysis system. Process based design is set up for the field of this research. Also the design, composed of design parameters and constraints, is set up for the subject of the research. Change propagation tracing algorithm traces change propagation based on the following concept : If the design parameters are changed, other parameters within the constrains including them may be changed. Using the result of change propagation tracing algorithm, changeable parameters, constraints and tasks can be found. The method of change impact analysis, to calculate change impact value from this changeable tasks, is developed. Change propagation tracing algorithm and the method of change impact analysis are implemented into change impact analysis system and it is applied to the redesign of 2 stage gear drives. It can support different kinds of design activities systematically. especially, at the redesign step, where many design change alternatives exist, change impact value of each alternative exist, change impact value of each alternative is calculated and design change is performed toward direction to minimize the impact of design change. Consequently, it is expected to improve the efficiency of the whole design.

This paper outlines a systematic guideline for remanufacturing process using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method in order to estimate the reliability and quality of the remanufactured alternator. The method is just a tool to help, but the remanufacturer must determine the optimal remanufacturing process and specific inspection and production that will turn the alternator as-good-as new and place the product into the market with reliability and quality equal to a new product. FMEA is a method that is widely used in industry and has shown its value and effectiveness in the above remanufacturing case study. Actions taken often result in a lower severity, occurrence or detection rating. Redesign may result in lower severity and occurrence ratings while inserting validation controls and maintenance can reduce the detection rating. The revised ratings are recorded with the originals on the FMEA template form. After these corrective actions and revisions have been established, evaluation of the ranks can be repeated, until the redesign and control parameters comply with safety standards.

In this study, a systematic approach for roll pass design in bar rolling was studied. To minimize the trial and errors in the process design, a roll CAD system and a FE analysis system were combined. Based on the system, a methodology for roll pass design by FEM was studied. At first, designed process was compared with the FE analysis results and process redesign based on the FEM results was performed to obtain the specified final geometry. Then, empirical formula for roll speed set-up was compared with the FE analysis results. Further study on various simulations for bar rolling will help in making up for the inaccuracy in the currently used empirical roll speed rules. In addition, verification of the accuracy of the FE analysis system must be performed using experimental data in the industry.
Some simulation tools have been developed to support business process reengineering. These tools can be used to not only analyze an as-is model of the existing process but also assess the potential value and feasibility of to-be models. But most of them are restricted to analyzing and redesign of the workflow only. Little attention is paid to the organization of people and their roles. This paper Presents a new methodology for business process simulation modeling and analysis. The methodology is based on the concepts of roles and customer-supplier chains. So the proposed methodology allows for tracking people and their roles affected by reengineering the business process. It enables one to analyze and evaluate not only workflow, but roles that are part of the flow. This paper developed a simulator to systematically construct simulation models and conduct simulations easily and efficiently. A case study is also presented as an illustrative example.
