Network Analysis on Ageing Problems : Identifying Network Differences between Types of Cities

  • The research is to identify social networks of problems that have an influence on the quality of ageing people's lives by using social network analysis, based on the premise that there are differences in networks of ageing problems in urban and rural areas. From analyzing network of ageing people's problems using NodeXL, vertices in the networks of both urban and rural areas are well-connected. For urban areas, financial poverty is the core problem related to the quality of life. It has direct connections with illness and health, family responsibility, housing, role loss in community, and employment, which have positive or negative interactions with the quality of older people's lives. For rural areas, on the other hand, role loss in community is the major problem. It has direct connections with the elderly abuse, financial poverty, leisure activity, divorce, isolation and loneliness from society, education, and suicide. As a result, the research shows that the problems of ageing people have strong linkages and interactive effects with a structure of network, and the networks are different depending on types of places for living.

한국과 미국 6학년 학생들의 직관적 사고에 의한 수학 문제해결 분석 (An Analysis on the Mathematical Problem Solving via Intuitive Thinking of the Korean and American 6th Grade Students)

  • This research examined the Korean and American $6^{th}$ grade students' mathematical problem solving ability and methods via an intuitive thinking. For this, the survey research was used. The researcher developed the questionnaire which consists of problems with intuitive and algorithmic problem solving in number and operation, figure and measurement areas. 57 Korean $6^{th}$ grade students and 60 American $6^{th}$ grade students participated. The result of the analysis showed that Korean students revealed a higher percentage than American students in correct answers. But it was higher in the rate of Korean students attempted to use the algorithm. Two countries' students revealed higher rates in that they tried to solve the problems using intuitive thinking in geometry and measurement areas. Students in both countries showed the lower percentages of correct answer in problem solving to identify the impact of counterintuitive thinking. They were affected by potential infinity concept and the character of intuition in the problem solving process regardless of the educational environments and cultures.

  • The Swedish Fire Research Board was established in 1979 to initiate and fund relevant fire research efforts. The Board is responsible for a long term research programme revised every third year, and the Board is one of two major Swedish sponsors of all fire research. Beside the Board we also have the Swedish National Rescue Services, funded by the government. BRANDFORSK gives very high priority for the industry and the insurance company and the need they express for fire research. Research that the Rescue Services Board are funding is mainly focusing the need for the fire department. The Swedish Fire Research Board, BRANDFORSK, is the joint agency of the Swedish government, the insurance industry and the business sector, for the initiation, funding and supervision of different kinds of fire research. Work is directed by a Programme Board and is performed in the form of projects at universities, research institutes, state authorities and private firms. The Secretariat of BRANDFORSK shares the premises of the Swedish Fire Protection Association, SFPA, and the SFPA is the principal and the party which enters into agreement with the State. The programme for the period 1997-1999 has been drawn up on the basis of both damage development and the trends in society which can be noted, and the evident fire problems of the interested parties and their need for fire research. The inputs in the programme have been broken down seven problem areas. In every problem area different project areas are set out, and these primarily specify the aim of the work. Our seven problem-areas are; Costs and benefits of fire protection measure. A Facial Expression Recognition Method Using Two-Stream Convolutional Networks in Natural Scenes

  • Aiming at the problem that complex external variables in natural scenes have a greater impact on facial expression recognition results, a facial expression recognition method based on two-stream convolutional neural network is proposed. The model introduces exponentially enhanced shared input weights before each level of convolution input, and uses soft attention mechanism modules on the space-time features of the combination of static and dynamic streams. This enables the network to autonomously find areas that are more relevant to the expression category and pay more attention to these areas. Through these means, the information of irrelevant interference areas is suppressed. In order to solve the problem of poor local robustness caused by lighting and expression changes, this paper also performs lighting preprocessing with the lighting preprocessing chain algorithm to eliminate most of the lighting effects. Experimental results on AFEW6.0 and Multi-PIE datasets show that the recognition rates of this method are 95.05% and 61.40%, respectively, which are better than other comparison methods.

Analytical and finite element solution of a receding contact problem

  • In this paper, a receding contact problem for an elastic layer resting on two quarter planes is considered. The layer is pressed by a stamp and distributed loads. It is assumed that the contact surfaces are frictionless and only compressive traction can be transmitted through the contact surfaces. In addition the effect of body forces are neglected. Firstly, the problem is solved analytically based on theory of elasticity. In this solution, the problem is reduced into a system of singular integral equations in which contact areas and contact stresses are unknowns using boundary conditions and integral transform techniques. This system is solved numerically using Gauss-Jacobi integral formulation. Secondly, two dimensional finite element analysis of the problem is carried out using ANSYS. The dimensionless quantities for the contact areas and the contact pressures are calculated under various distributed load conditions using both solutions. It is concluded that the position and the magnitude of the distributed load have an important role on the contact area and contact pressure distribution between layer and quarter plane contact surface. The analytic results are verified by comparison with finite element results.

  • TRIZ는 원래 러시아인인 알트슐러에 의해 개발되어 기술 분야의 문제 해결에 활용 되어 왔지만, 최근에는 Darrell Mann에 의해 비 기술 영역에도 적용이 되기 시작하였다. 국내에는 1995년 LG전자에서 최초로 도입하여 현재는 삼성, 포스코 등 많은 기업들이 문제 해결도구로 사용하고 있다. TRIZ 문제 해결 방법은 문제를 정의하고, RCA(Root Cause Analysis)를 통해 근본원인을 찾아내어 기술적 모순과 물리적 모순을 정의 하고 있다. TRIZ는 모순을 극복하는 것이 문제를 해결하는 것이다. 본 연구는 문제 해결 방법인 TRIZ 원리를 이용하여 비기술 분야인 물류 영역의 개선에 적용하고자 하였다. 실제 "L" 기업의 물류 재작업이라는 물류 운영 개선을 하기 위해 TRIZ 방법론 중 RCA(Root Cause Analysis)분석, 모순 정의, 40가지 발명원리를 사용하여 문제 해결을 위한 아이디어 도출 및 적용 하였다. 본 연구는 TRIZ를 비기술 분야에 활용하고자 하는 향후 연구자들에게 도움이 되고자 하였다.

비전공자를 위한 알고리즘씽킹 기반 소프트웨어 기초교육 설계 (Design of Algorithm Thinking-Based Software Basic Education for Nonmajors)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to design the curriculum of Basic College Software Programming to develop creative and logical-thinking. This course is guided by algorithmic thinking and logical thinking that can be solved by computing for problem-solving, and it helps to develop by software through basic programming education. Through the stage of problem analysis, abstraction, algorithm, data structure, and algorithm implementation, the curriculum is designed to help learners experience algorithm problem-solving in various areas to develop diffusion thinking. For Learners aim to achieve the balanced development of divergent and convergent-thinking needed in their creative problem-solving skills. Research design, data and methodology: This study is to design a basic software education for improving algorithm-thinking for non-major. The curriculum designed in this paper is necessary to non-majors students who have completed the 'Creative Thinking and Coding Course' Design Thinking based are targeted. For this, contents were extracted through advanced research analysis at home and abroad, and experts in computer education, computer engineering, SW education, and education were surveyed in the form of quasi-openness. Results: In this study, based on ADD Thinking's algorithm thinking, we divided the unit college majors into five groups so that students of each major could accomplish the goal of "the ability to internalize their own ideas into computing," and extracted and designed different content areas, content elements and sub-components from each group. Through three expert surveys, we established a strategy for characterization by demand analysis and major/textbook category and verified the appropriateness of the design direction to ensure that the subjects and contents of the curriculum are appropriate for each family in order to improve algorithm-thinking. Conclusions: This study helps develop software by enhancing the ability of students who practice various subjects and exercises to explore creative expressions in various areas, such as 'how to think like a computer' that can implement and execute their ideas in computing. And it helps increase the ability to think logical and algorithmic computing based on creative solutions, improving problem-solving ability based on computing thinking and fundamental understanding of computer coding and development of logical thinking ability through programming.

위성항법시스템기반의 도심지역 음영해소를 위한 위치오차 측정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Location Error Measurement to Resolve the Problem of Weak Signal Areas for Satellite Navigation System)

  • 이 논문은 위성항법시스템을 이용한 위치측위에서 지역별 특성에 따른 위치오차실험을 통하여, 음영지역 발생 원인과 해결 방법을 제안하기 위한 연구이다. 동적측위에서 이동체는 이동 위치에 따라 사용할 수 있는 위성항법시스템의 수가 변화한다. 정확한 위치측위를 위해서는 4개 이상의 위성항법시스템으로부터 위치정보데이터를 수신 받아야 한다. 하지만 급격한 산업화와 열악한 지역 환경으로 위치오차가 커지고 음영지역이 발생한다. 이러한 위치오차를 줄이고 음영지역 발생을 해소하기 위해서는 대도시의 환경과 지역 환경 특성에 따른 원인을 파악하는 것이 중요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 대도시, 주택 지역, 숲 지역, 바다 지역, 대지 등을 선정하여 위치오차와 음영지역 발생 원인을 실험하였다. 그리고 이 논문을 기반으로 지역 환경에 따른 적합한 고정밀 측위 알고리즘을 제안하고, 음영지역해소 알고리즘을 제안하려고 한다.

Analysis of the Efficient Utilization of Surplus Parking Spaces in Apartment Complexes of Seoul

  • Purpose: Residents in deteriorated residential areas of Seoul have suffered from parking shortage problem. Since it is almost impossible to supply new parking, it is critical to find a way to efficiently utilize existing parking spaces. This study proposes utilizing unused parking spaces in apartment complexes so that residents in multi-unit or multi-family houses can share those parking spaces. Method: Spatial scope of this research is limited to multiplex-clustered neighborhood and apartment complex in Seoul. To identify the nature of parking problem, we reviewed current parking situations in residential areas and policies from the Seoul Metropolitan Government. To understand the amount of parking spaces required to solve parking shortages in multiplex-clustered neighborhoods, this study analyzed car ownership per household and available parking spaces in old residential areas. Then we were able to apprehend the amount of parking spaces that could be used for residents in aged multiplex-clustered areas. Result: Our analysis shows a great potential to utilize surplus parking spaces from apartment complexes for solving parking problems in multiplex-clustered neighborhoods.

생체모방의 건축적 적용을 위한 프로세스 (Process for the Architectural Application of Biomimicry)

  • Biomimicry architecture has been highlighted in recent years for the innovative ideas from the nature have provided main developments in many areas. The related studies in Korean architecture is entering the first step and are needed close attentions for its vitalizations. This study starts with the acknowledgement of necessity to establish the architectural application process. First of all, it is named as a 'Passive Cycle' if a problem-solving or a project has been through the analysis of process complexity and biomimicry application process in other areas. Then, the basic frame is structured as a 'Process-Cooperation,' which integrates process complexation with process circulation. The cooperative relationship starts from the beginning of the design with not only professionalists related with architecture but also ones in various areas when it is issued a difficult problem or high environmental performance not found in common architectural design processes. To make the architectural application good progress, the characteristics of bio-mimetic architectural applications are categorized as three areas; the expected effect, the application level, and application method. As a result, the organic complexity should be prioritized to have bio-mimetic application effectively while accessing the principles. Therefore, the process for the architectural application of biomimicry is suggested as 'Organic Cycle-Cooperation.'
