Parallelization of Probabilistic RoadMap for Generating UAV Path on a DTED Map (DTED 맵에서 무인기 경로 생성을 위한 Probabilistic RoadMap 병렬화)

  • In this paper, we describe how to implement the mountainous terrain, radar, and air defense network for UAV path planning in a 3-D environment, and perform path planning and re-planning using the PRM algorithm, a sampling-based path planning algorithm. In the case of the original PRM algorithm, the calculation to check whether there is an obstacle between the nodes is performed 1:1 between nodes and is performed continuously, so the amount of calculation is greatly affected by the number of nodes or the linked distance between nodes. To improve this part, the proposed LineGridMask method simplifies the method of checking whether obstacles exist, and reduces the calculation time of the path planning through parallelization. Finally, comparing performance with existing PRM algorithms confirmed that computational time was reduced by up to 88% in path planning and up to 94% in re-planning.

  • Slope stability analysis is a geotechnical engineering problem characterized by many sources of uncertainty. Some of them are connected to the uncertainties of soil properties involved in the analysis. In this paper, a numerical procedure for integrating commercial finite difference method into probabilistic analysis of slope stability is presented. Since the limit-state function cannot be expressed in an explicit form, the ANN-based response surface method is adopted to approximate the limit-state function and the first-, second-order reliability method and the Monte Carlo simulation technique are used to calculate the probability of failure. Probabilistic stability assessments for a hypothetical two-layer slope and the Sugar Creek embankment were performed to verify the application potential to the slope stability problems. The examples show the successful implementation and the possibility of the extension of the proposed procedure to the variety of geotechnical engineering problems.

  • In order to implement the autonomous navigation function, it is essential to track an object within a certain radius of the ship's route. This paper proposes the Multiple Probabilistic Data Association Filter (MPDAF), which can track multiple ships by extending Probabilistic Data Association Filter (PDAF), an existing single object tracking algorithm, using radar data obtained from real marine environments. The proposed MPDAF algorithm was developed to address the problem of tracking multiple objects in a complex environment where there can be significant uncertainty in the number and identification of objects to be tracked. Using real-world radar data provided by the German aerospace center (DLR), it has been verified that the proposed algorithm can track a large number of objects with a small position error.

  • Gestures have been employed for human computer interaction to build more natural interface in new computational environments. In this paper, we describe our approach to develop a gesture interface using spatial context information. The proposed gesture interface recognizes a system action (e.g. commands) by integrating gesture information with spatial context information within a probabilistic framework. Two ontologies of spatial contexts are introduced based on the spatial information of gestures: gesture volume and gesture target. Prototype applications are developed using a smart environment scenario that a user can interact with digital information embedded to physical objects using gestures.

  • As an approach to develope a control system with robustness in changing control environment conditions, this paper will propose a robot manipulator control system using multilayer neural network and immune algorithm. The proposed immune algorithm which has the characteristics of immune system such as distributed and anomaly detection, probabilistic detection, learning and memory, consists of the innate immune algorithm and the adaptive immune algorithm. We will demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control system with simulations of a 2-link robot manipulator.

  • A set of text database is indispensable to the probabilistic models for speech recognition, linguistic model, and machine translation. We introduce an environment to canstruct text databases : an automatic tagging system and a set of tools for lexical knowledge acquisition, which provides the facilities of automatic part of speech recognition and guessing.

  • A rental housing has a key role to supply the living space to non-ownership. A public rental housing is particularly aimed at providing the living space for the low-income households with a low rent fee. Therefore, the local government would try to maintain the facilities of the rental housing and to get the decent living condition. For getting the required living condition, it should make a maintenance plan, which contains the repair time, repair scope and targeted component and finishings. This study is aimed at providing the optimal repair time in 12 components and components of the rental housing which is controlled by the local government. The optimal repair time has two steps to get the final result. First, it would draw the 1'st repair time with the probabilistic and empirical approach. Second, comparing the drawn data and the service life, the optima repair time would be provided with considering the components' attributes. Result are as follows : First, the optimal repair time would be considered with the component attributes. There are user's convenience, its safety and physical aspect. Second, the kitchen utensils, elevator and water tap has a optimal time of 16, 19, 17 years respectively which is considered with physical aspect. In addition, the optima repair time of the wiring appliance and lighting equipment are 12 years and 10 years respectively.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크는 개방된 환경에서 무작위로 배치되어 악의적인 공격자들에게 쉽게 노출된다. 센서 노드는 한정된 에너지 자원과 손쉽게 훼손된다는 단점을 통해 허위 보고서와 투표 삽입 공격이 발생한다. Li와 Wu는 두 공격을 대응하기 위해 확률적 투표기반 여과기법을 제안하였다. 확률적 투표기반 여과기법은 고정적인 검증 경로를 결정하기 때문에 특정 노드의 에너지 자원고갈 위험이 있다. 본 논문에서는 센서 네트워크에서 보고서 여과 확률 향상을 위하여 퍼지 시스템을 기반으로 다음 노드 선택을 약 6% 효율적인 경로 선택 방법을 제안한다. 제안 기법은 전달 경로 상의 노드 중 상태정보가 높은 노드를 검증 노드로 선택하고, 선택된 검증 노드는 허용 범위 경계 값을 기준으로 공격 유형을 판별하고 여과한다. 실험결과를 통해 제안기법은 기존기법과 비교하였을 때 에너지 효율이 향상되었다.

An Energy-Efficient Periodic Data Collection using Dynamic Cluster Management Method in Wireless Sensor Network (무선 센서 네트워크에서 동적 클러스터 유지 관리 방법을 이용한 에너지 효율적인 주기적 데이터 수집)

  • Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are used to collect various data in environment monitoring applications. A spatial clustering may reduce energy consumption of data collection by partitioning the WSN into a set of spatial clusters with similar sensing data. For each cluster, only a few sensor nodes (samplers) report their sensing data to a base station (BS). The BS may predict the missed data of non-samplers using the spatial correlations between sensor nodes. ASAP is a representative data collection algorithm using the spatial clustering. It periodically reconstructs the entire network into new clusters to accommodate to the change of spatial correlations, which results in high message overhead. In this paper, we propose a new data collection algorithm, name EPDC (Energy-efficient Periodic Data Collection). Unlike ASAP, EPDC identifies a specific cluster consisting of many dissimilar sensor nodes. Then it reconstructs only the cluster into subclusters each of which includes strongly correlated sensor nodes. EPDC also tries to reduce the message overhead by incorporating a judicious probabilistic model transfer method. We evaluate the performance of EPDC and ASAP using a simulation model. The experiment results show that the performance improvement of EPDC is up to 84% compared to ASAP.
