  • In printing, managing color means that how closely its color reproducts and printing supplier meets customers' requirements. When applying device profiles, it depends on properties of the devices. But color management of domestic digital prints is accomplished more scientifically and objectively than any other printing. According to this paper addresses a method of evaluating between proof prints and offset prints which are produced by identical date on the field. We evaluate two cases normal proof prints and domestic offset prints based on standardized color data analysis and subjective data analysis. We gathered objective data by measuring solid density, $CIEL^*a^*b^*$ and ${\Delta}E^{*_}{ab}$. Furthermore, we evaluated the offset prints and proof prints through human eyes to decide the ranking.

  • Because of high demand of color quality of the prints, proof prints are more important for end-user to predict and correct the final prints directly as an intermediate. Thus, proof prints can be used as a reference to take minimum ${\Delta}E^*ab$between the originals and finals in the field. The advantage of proof prints is to predict and correct color easily through the RIP(Raster Image Processor) without printing plates and plate making steps. While, it is thought that the proof systems are almost equivalent to the press in the past, present proof systems are more simple to take proof prints more easily due to the automation and digitalization. This paper addresses a method to perform an accurate profiling according to proof paper types and find optimal proof papers which meet proofing requirement. Although proof papers are matched with ISO 12647-7, we were trying to reduce ${\Delta}E^*ab$, In addition to the above, through the Gamut Mapping and Iteration, We were trying to find optimal proofing conditions.

  • In Sasang constitutional medicine, the classification of Sasang constitutional types (Tae-Yang, Tae-Eum, So-Yang, and So-Eum) is important for the treatment. There are some problems with the methods used for classifying Sasang constitutional types; old methods such as pulse-palpation are not considered objective and recent methods such as immunohematology are considered expensive, painful and time-consuming. To overcome these problems, a body measurement and finger prints analysis were performed. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the palm prints and the palm creases could be helpful in classifying Sasang constitutional types. Thus, we looked for characteristics of the palm prints and the palm creases according to Sasang constitutional types. Before analyzing the palm prints and palm creases, 760 Korean (465 males, 295 females) were surveyed using two kinds of questionnaires for classifying Sasang constitutional types. As there were no Tae-Yang individuals, we were only able to identify the characteristics of the palm prints and the palm creases for Tae-Eum (288 persons), So-Yang (193 persons), and So-Eum (279 persons) individuals. In this study, the terminal points of D, closed crease, and open crease seemed to be helpful in classifying Tae-Eum and So-Eum individuals. Terminal point 11 and closed crease were frequent in Tae-Eum individuals; whereas, terminal point 7 and open crease were frequent in So-Eum individuals. Therefore, the palm prints and the palm creases seem to contribute to the classification of Sasang constitutional types.

  • Web offset newspaper prints is the most widely used printing process in domestic printing industry, but there are no industry-wide specifications for press control to assure consistent quality across newspaper printing plants. As newspaper printing becomes more of a commodity and less of an art, it is necessary to develop the print quality specification standard suitable for Korea web offset newspaper printing field. There are a few commonly employed printing standards such as, SNAP(Specification for Non-Heatset Publication) of the US, IFRA(INCA-FIEJ Research Association), J-color (Japan printing machinery association). And there exists KS for domestic standards, however, since it has been directly imported from ISO standards, there are discrepancies in printing materials and media. This paper aims to examine the color reproduction quality of domestic web offset newspaper prints by comparing with foreign standards. Printing experiments on this study have been performed at one of the domestic newspaper printing companies. The color reproduction properties of the web offset newspaper prints are measured by means of densitometry and colorimetry. These measures are evaluated comapratively with the international standards by means of analyzing, the major factors that determine the color reproduction quality of web offset newspapar prints.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine woodblock prints possessed at Komazawa University and Hosa Library which are most precedent versions among a number of different versions of Daemyeongryul- Jikhae. This study has determined that both of two prints are same version printed by identical woodblock and the print of Hosa Library out of them was the fine version printed at an earlier stage. Moreover, this study has compared the print of Hosa Library with that of Mansong's collection of books in Korea University, thus the distinction has been classified into 4 types and described in detail. From the analysis about the difference between the prints of Hosa Library and Mansong's collection of books, this study has extrapolated the versions of Daemyeongryul-Jikhae in the early period of the Joseon Dynasty. This study suggests that the print of Daemyeongryul-Jikhae in Hosa Library demonstrates revision of legal articles and literal translation of the articles and thus, it is valuable literature that provides a basis for revising error in later versions including the print in Mansong's collection of books. Since various simplified forms and variants of Chinese characters were used in the print of Hosa Library, it is useful literature for studying Chinese character culture which was prevalent in local at the early period of the Joseon Dynasty.

  • The storage environment of a Japanese woodblock print collection was assessed for organic acids. The active air sampling method was used to collect organic acid emissions in the low microgram range from areas of a selected woodblock print with different pigments, following which an off-gassing mitigation strategy based on the fan filter unit(FFU) system was investigated. Research findings revealed that the off-gassing behavior of woodblock prints is significantly impacted by storage practices and to a lesser degree by the pigments. The FFU system can be used as a mitigation strategy, but the permanence of the results depends on the storage conditions.

  • Gloves are very important evidence at a crime scene; specifically, rubber gloves can be found easily at homes. Therefore, crime scene investigators attempt to develop fingerprints inside the rubber gloves that are discovered, for identifying unknown suspects. This study compared the effectiveness of three different methods that are used for developing latent prints on gloves with aging time. These were the powder, cyanoacrylate fuming, and multi-metal deposition I methods. The powder method achieved good results for 1-3 days of aged prints, and the cyanoacrylate fuming method worked well on 2-week-old prints. In comparison, multi-metal deposition I method developed good quality fingerprints for 6 weeks of aging time.

  • The reality of domestic prints neither possesses an objective standard of standard density nor a spectrophotometric method in regard to process ink. As a result, it creates a difficult communication between a designer and a Prepresser as to estimating the color of reproduction prints. There was an experiment on paper, ink, and printing company to obtain the standard point. The result shows that paper has minimum effect on color reproduction as opposed to ink and different printing companies, which had a great effect. The purpose of this paper is to confirm how different the color reproduction properties of prints are using densitometer and spectrophotometer for three different ink companies. The process color inks of three different companies were used under the same printing environment in this experiment.

  • OncoPrint, the plot to visualize an overview of genetic variants in sequencing data, has been widely used in the field of cancer genomics. However, still, there have been no Python libraries capable to generate OncoPrint yet, a big hassle to plot OncoPrints within Python-based genetic variants analysis pipelines. This paper introduces a new Python package PyOncoPrint, which can be easily used to plot OncoPrints in Python. The package is based on the existing widely used scientific plotting library Matplotlib, the resulting plots are easy to be adjusted for various needs.
