  • High-rise residential buildings in these days tend to adopt a building frame system as primary earthquake resisting structural system for some architectural reasons. But there exist several ambiguities in designing such building frame systems according to current codes, with regards to : the effective stiffness property of RC cracked section in static and dynamic analyses, analytical model to evaluate story drift ratio and, deformation compatibility requirements of frames. The comparative study for these issues by appling IBC 2000 and KBC 2005 to a typical building frame system shows that demands of member strength and story drift ratio can be different significantly depending on designer's interpretation and application of code requirements.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe and understand the meaning of cancer survivors' life experience after being discharged from the primary cancer treatment. Methods: Data were collected through a tape-recorded in-depth interview from six participants living in Gyeonggi province from September 2007 to January 2008. The analysis of the data was made through the phenomenological analytic method suggested by Colaizzi. Results: Thirteen themes regarding the survivors' life experience were found. From these thirteen themes, six major theme were emerged. The six major theme included 'keeping his/her mind comfortable', 'going ahead with new hope', 'accepting for his/her existing burden', 'maintaining a good health for a new life', 'improving the strength and relationship among the family member', and 'being faithful to his/her religion'. Conclusions: The results of this study would help oncology nurses to understand the cancer survivors' life and to develop a quality of life improvement program for physical, psychosocial, and spiritual aspects of nursing.

  • The fatigue life of a structure can be enhanced by improving the mechanical and metallurgical aspects to strengthen the material around regions of high stress. Coldworking of holes in structures is one of the mechanical methods of strengthening material. The material for this research is A12024-T351 which is used for the primary member or aircraft. Specimens were tested under constant amplitude loading and residual stresses measured by X-ray diffraction technique. Fatigue crack initiation life was evaluated by a strain-life equation which was considered initial residual stress and residual stress relaxation exponent as a function of the strain amplitude. The predictions on fatigue crack initiation life were compared with experimental results. A wide range of discrepancies between them was found.

  • We discovered a syrphid species, Tropidia rostrata Shiraki, 1930, for the first time in Korea. This is the first member of the genus Tropidia recorded in Korea. This species can be distinguished from other Palaearctic members of Tropidia by the combination of the following characteristics: lower facial margin strongly protrudes forward; apical 3/4 of hind femur black; and tergites 2 and 3 each with a pair large yellowish brown square spots (not reached hind margin). We here provide a detailed redescription supplemented by the color photographs of external structures including genitalia. We also discussed the status of primary types associated with this taxon.

  • This paper experimentally investigates the characteristics of Al-honeycomb sandwich panels which are considered as a promising primary strength member of weight critical large structures. Some tests on the aluminum honeycomb panels subject to 3-point bending or uniaxial compression or crushing load are carried out. Based on the test results, linear elastic response, buckling/ultimate strength and crushing/energy absorption capacity are discussed. Some guidelines for design of aluminum honeycomb panels are given.

  • CSR(Common Structure Rules) enter into force on $1^{st}$ April 2006. Generally for double hull tankers of less than 150m in length, the Rules of the individual Classification Society are to be applied. Where high tensile stresses act through an intermediate plate, increased fillet welds or penetration welds are to be used longitudinal/transverse bulkhead primary support member end connections to the double bottom. If workers have begun to make used of established procedures between corrugated BHD and lower stool joint, first to welding on groove of face and then it has to gouging to blow on groove of root. So amount of man-hour increased, productivity secreased.

  • One of the primary factors like plate structure In ship is redundancy structure that is comparable with ocean structure and frame structure. The more component material becomes buckling collapsed locally the less structure stiffness becomes accordingly. As a result, by increasing the load distribution of any other subsidiary structure continually component member collapses, therefore the structure could be in danger of collapse. So, in order to interpret this phenomenon precisely, the study on boundary condition of the ship's Plate and post-buckling analysis must be considered. In this study, the rectangular plate is compressed by the in-plane load. Buckling & Ultimate strength characteristics we applied to be the elasto-plasticity large deformation by F.E.M. On this basis, elasto-plasticity of the plain plate are investigated. This study proved elasto-plasticity behaviour of tile ship's plate In accordance with boundary condition based on the series analysis In case of the compressive load operation.

  • E/R bulkhead is watertight bulkhead between engine room and cargo hold. So, it must have sufficient strength about cargo load of aft hold. Especially, partial stringer deck between tank top and $2^{nd}$ deck of engine room must have sufficient strength because it has function of primary supporting member. Generally, cargo hold structure is verified through the direct calculation as finite element analysis of cargo hold, but engine room structure doesn't perform it. Therefore, we have performed finite element analysis of engine room stringer deck which considered cargo hold load. And then, it will be able to apply similar ship design.

  • This writing is for the purpose of investigating the specific character and problem point of China arbitration system which has near 90 years history and overviewing the drift of system improvement which happens recently. The arbitration system of China which traditionally does not acknowledge ad hoc arbitration, unlike most of the other nations that employ The UNCITRAL model law and make it their own legislation, is restrictive to the parties concerned principle of private autonomy considerably. Also the independence of arbitration is delicate, because of a civil characteristic weakness of the arbitral institutions and the intervention of the courts on the arbitration procedure and award. The dual system of domestic and international arbitration which maintains after enforcement of 1994 arbitration law is often to be a primary factor interrupting the development of Chinese arbitration system and making it vulnerable to challenges. The system improvement demand of the recent time reflects this point and makes the arbitration system of China to a international standard rather than now, so it is a desirable direction for China to be as the member of the world economy to be globalization.

  • For the success of a festival, effective volunteer management is axiomatic. Given the dramatically increased size and quality of festivals and events in Korea over the past fifteen years, the importance of effective volunteer management has been overlooked among festival organizations in comparison to similar festivals in western countries. This paper provides a description and an assessment of the Hi Seoul Festival 2009 volunteer program based on an seven-step ideal process of an effective festival volunteer program with suggestions for the program development by reviewing organizational documents, and an interview with a staff member of the Hi Seoul Festival organization, and a survey pertinent to festival volunteers' motivation. This study shows college students are more interested in volunteering at festivals in Korea with the primary motivation of developing relationships and gaining work experience. It also suggests that the Hi Seoul Festival organization should fully appreciate the importance of an effective volunteer program and the position and work of a volunteer coordinator.
