  • In this paper, we propose a channel selection scheme for secondary users in cognitive radio sensor networks, which includes learning automata and fuzzy logic system (FLS). In the proposed scheme, FLS is used as the channel selection mechanism while the learning automata algorithm is being used to learn the radio environment such as channel link quality. Signal to noise ratio of the link between primary user (PU) and secondary user (SU), the probability of choosing channel, and signal to noise ratio of the link between secondary users are chosen as input parameters for the FLS to decide one data channel among multiple channels. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme does indeed provide advantages in improving the throughput of CR networks, in comparison with some other previous schemes.

  • Cognitive radio (CR) has emerged as one of effective methods to enhance the utilization of existing radio spectrum. Main principle of CR is that secondary users (SUs) are allowed to use the spectrum unused by primary users (PUs) without interfering PU's transmissions. In this paper, PUs operate on a slot-by-slot basis and SUs try to exploit the slots unused by PUs. We propose OSA protocols in the single channel and we propose an opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) protocols in the multi-channel cognitive radio networks with one control channel and several licensed channels where a slot is divided into contention phase and transmission phase. A slot is divided into reporting phase, contention phase and transmission phase. The reporting phase plays a role of finding idle channels unused by PUs and the contention phase plays a role of selecting a SU who will send packets in the data transmission phase. One SU is selected by carrier sense multiple access / collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) with request to send / clear to send (RTS/CTS) mechanism on control channel and the SU is allowed to occupy all remaining part of all idle channels during the current slot. For mathematical analysis, first we deal with the single-channel case and we model the proposed OSA media access control (MAC) protocol by three-dimensional discrete time Markov chain (DTMC) whose one-step transition probability matrix has a special structure so as to apply the censored Markov chain method to obtain the steady state distribution. We obtain the throughput and the distribution of access delay. Next we deal with the multi-channel case and obtain the throughput and the distribution of access delay by using results of single-channel case. In numerical results, our mathematical analysis is verified by simulations and we give numerical results on throughput and access delay of the proposed MAC protocol. Finally, we find the maximum allowable number of SUs satisfying the requirements on throughput and access delay.

  • S-Mode is a concept involving a standardized navigation display with accompanying standardized functionality and interfaces for navigational equipment. It was proposed by the International Federation of Shipmasters' Associations at IMO NAV $54^{th}$ session in 2008. The IMO e-Navigation Strategy Implementation Plan(SIP) addresses, S-Mode and the IMO MSC at its $95^{th}$ session in 2015 approved an output 1 to develop S-Mode guidance. In this study, it has been carried out survey of user needs for adopting S-Mode guideline on ECDIS which is core navigational equipment. It is conducted with a questionnaire survey, targeting deck officers and masters who will be the primary users of the equipment related to the e-Navigation system. In this research, users' opinion survey regarding the necessity of development, the scope of standardization, and priorities was conducted. This survey result could be contributed to development S-Mode guideline and specify the concept of S-Mode. It would be derived from standardizing component through providing elements to be considered for its development.

  • LBS(Location Based Services) provide the location-based information to its mobile users. The primary functionality of these services is to provide useful information to its users at a minimum cost of resources. The functionality can be implemented through data mining techniques. However, conventional data mining researches have not been considered spatial and temporal aspects of data simultaneously. Therefore, these techniques are inappropriate to apply on the objects of LBS, which change spatial attributes over time. In this paper, we propose a new data mining technique for identifying the temporal patterns from the series of the locations of moving objects that have both temporal and spatial dimension. We use a spatial operation of contains to generalize the location of moving point and apply time constraints between the locations of a moving object to make a valid moving sequence. Finally, the spatio-temporal technique proposed in this paper is very practical approach in not only providing more useful knowledge to LBS, but also improving the quality of the services.

  • Spectrum handoff is the process of exchanging progressing data transmission from the current channel to another idle channel. The essential goal of spectrum handoff in CR(Cognitive Radio) networks is to perform consistent data transmission while sustaining performance of ongoing transmission of secondary users. This handoff procedure can cause additional latency that eventually affects on the performance of CR transmission. Channel prediction method is expected to avoid the disruption to primary users and to reduce the handoff latency. In this paper, adaptive channel prediction is proposed to cope with time-varying channel and an adaptive channel prediction based proactive handoff procedure is designed to enhance data transmission performance.

  • Cognitive radio technology can allow secondary users (SUs) to access unused licensed spectrums in an opportunistic manner without interfering with primary users (PUs). Spectrum sensing is a key technology for cognitive radio (CR). However, few studies have examined energy-efficient spectrum sensing in cognitive radio sensor networks (CRSNs). In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient cooperative spectrum sensing nodes selection scheme for cluster-based cognitive radio sensor networks. In our proposed scheme, false alarm probability and energy consumption are considered to minimize the number of spectrum sensing nodes in a cluster. Simulation results show that by applying the proposed scheme, spectrum sensing efficiency is improved with a decreased number of spectrum sensing nodes. Furthermore, network energy efficiency is guaranteed and network lifetime is substantially prolonged.

  • There are many efforts for expanding bikeway plans and increasing bike utilization. In this study the authors try to find the primary factors that affect bike users' satisfaction under limited budgets. As satisfaction is a qualitative variable, the authors developed a bike user satisfaction model by using structural equation methods. The bikeways are distinguished between bike lanes on public roads and exclusive bikeways along the Han River, as the characteristics and attributes should be different. The model shows bikeways on public road have a user satisfaction equal to 0.248*(safety)+0.405(accessibility). Bikeways along the Han River have a user satisfaction equal to 0.437*(accessibility)+0.405*(economic feasibility). In both types, accessibility affects satisfaction. Safety in more important to users on public roads, while economic feasibility affects those on the Han River bikeways.

  • Due to the advancement of computer and information technologies, numerous papers have been published. As new research fields continue to be created, users have a lot of trouble finding and categorizing their interesting papers. In order to alleviate users' this difficulty, this paper presents a method of grouping similar papers and clustering them. The presented method extracts primary keywords from the abstracts of each paper by using TF-IDF. Based on TF-IDF values extracted using K-means clustering algorithm, our method clusters papers to the ones that have similar contents. To demonstrate the practicality of the proposed method, we use paper data in FGCS journal as actual data. Based on these data, we derive the number of clusters using Elbow scheme and show clustering performance using Silhouette scheme.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the influencing factors of the patient leaning phenomenon in tertiary hospitals. Based on the results of this study, we intended to find implications for improving the problems of the delivery system imbalance in tertiary hospitals caused by patient leaning phenomenon. Methodology/Approach: Qualitative studies were conducted, using focus group interviews and in-depth interviews. The focus group interviews were conducted for 12 users of tertiary hospitals by 2 groups. And in-depth interviews were conducted for 6 tertiary hospital managers. This was considered to be the most effective approach to gather diverse and in-depth information about the influencing factor of patient leaning phenomenon in tertiary hospitals. Findings: In focus group interviews, the reason for choosing tertiary hospitals was the reliability of the hospital(physician, reputation, etc.). And the effect of the policy to strengthen coverage of National Health Insurance and private medical insurance was relatively small. In other words, we found that the individual's desire to receive medical services suitable for one's health status and disease condition was the biggest factor, rather than the cost and policy factors. Practical Implications: We suggested that the appropriate medical care provision should be strengthened according to the role and function of medical institutions. In addition, the education system needs to be reorganized to activate the referral program, expand community medical capabilities, and foster quality primary medical care.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to establish a linkage model involving regional responsible medical institutions after analyzing the existing conditions and deriving problems through qualitative analysis within the community care system. Methods: A total of 14 participants of this study were selected through the snowball sampling method, including 7 community care service providers and 7 service users. As for the research data, primary data were collected through interviews, and as a result of analyzing according to Aday&Anderson' model, a total of 5 catergories, 8 topics, and 22 sub theme were derived. Results: The problem derived from the interview is that division services are provided for each institution due to the absence of a key central institution of community care system, and users' commercial institutions is unclear. The second is the inconsistency between the needs and supply for community care, resulting in a possibility of delay in returning to the community after discharge. Based on these problems, it is necessary to unify it as an community care window of the Dong-community center. In addition, there is a need for public health centers to play an active role, and to establish a public-private joint system with the Health and Living Support Center to establish a model that can play a certain role. Conclusions: Therefore, based on the results of this study, it can be used as basic data when constructing community care model and applying it as an expanded model in the future.
