  • Investigation and analysis of accidents are critical elements of safety management. The over-riding purpose of an organization in carrying out an accident investigation is to prevent similar accidents, as well as seek a general improvement in the management of health and safety. Hundreds of workers have suffered injuries while installing, maintaining, or servicing machinery and equipment due to sudden re-energization of power lines. This study presents and analyzes two electrical accidents (1 fatal injury and 1 serious injury) that occurred because the power supply was reconnected inadvertently or by mistake.

  • We experienced a case of giant arachnoid granulation misdiagnosed as dural sinus thrombosis. A 66-year-old woman presented with a one month history of progressive occipital headache. Computed tomography angiography and cerebral angiography showed a round filling defect at the transverse sinus which was speculated as a transverse sinus thrombosis. Anticoagulation therapy was performed to prevent worsening of thrombosis for 2 weeks and then a Gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging scan was performed. The filling defect lesion at the transverse sinus revealed a non-enhancing granule with central linear enhancement, which was compatible with giant arachnoid granulation. We checked the intrasinus pressure difference across the lesion the through the dural sinus in order to exclude the lesion as the cause of headache. Normal venous pressure with no significant differential pressure across the lesion was noted. Headache was treated with medical therapy.

  • The aging of population in Korea is proceeding in such a fast speed that other developed countries kaven't experienced. Korea already emerged in the aging society in 2000, and expected to become an aged society in 2019.There(ore, making effort to improve the quality of life of the aged people tv prolonging their social, economic activity, resulting in retrenchment of expenditure on health is very important. Developing nutrition and exercise programs to improve the quality of life of the elderly people, resulting in prolonged independent life is as important as medical care after onset of diseases. As a national preventive measure to save elderly people from becoming in need of assist, comprehensive program including teaching computer to prevent senile dementia, nutritional and exercise programs, along with programs of everyday life activity for the risk-group people should be carried out,

  • Lifetime Health Maintenance Program(LHMP) or Koreans is the Korean guide to clinical preventive services which include screening for chronic diseases, counseling and immunization. The Korean Task Force on the LHMP vigorously reviews evidence for interventions to prevent over 50 different illnesses and conditions which are important in Korea. The problems addressed in this program are common ones seen every day by primary care physicians in Korea: cardiovascular, infectious diseases, gastrointestinal and endocrine diseases, cancers, alcohol and smoking, and many others. Primary care clinicians have a key role in screening for many of these problems and imunizing against others Of equal importance, however, is the clinician's role in counseling patients to change unhealthful behaviors related to diet, smoking, exercise, injuries, and sexually transmitted diseases The recommendations are grouped by age, sex, and other risk factors.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of fatigue and Yangsaeng in Korea. Yangsaeng as a traditional health care regimen for the promotion of health and prevention of illness by means specific principles and methods, whose purpose was to improve longevity and healthy life. Method: The subjects of this study were 196 male adults in Korea. Data were collected by using a self-reported questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, t-test, ANOVA and multiple linear regression. Results: There was statistically significant difference in Yangsaeng and fatigue according to age and education. The relationship between Yangsaeng and fatigue had a significant negative correlation. Exercise, sleep, mind Yangsaeng were found to be significant predictors (28%) of fatigue. Conclusion: To prevent fatigue of adults, nurse should focus on the factors identified in this study when she develop nursing intervention programs for health promotion.

  • The primary purpose of present study, to take appropriate measures to prevent occupational accidents in the food service industry, was to evaluate characteristics of working condition and occupational safety and health. In order to fulfill our objective, profession and working environment, safety recognition and education, safety activities, physical conditions and accident experience were surveyed. To collect information and opinion in the field, face-to-face interviews were, using a structured questionnaire, carried out. Also, food service industry's accidents reported by Korean Occupational Safety and Health Agency at 2014 were statistically analyzed. In the resulting of analyzing data from a questionnaire survey of food service industry employees, safety/health train and management were increased.

  • Background: In industrial countries, home care of community dwelling elderly people is rapidly growing. Frequent injuries in home caregivers result from slips, trips, and falls (STFs). The current study tests attentional cognitive failure to mediate the association between work stressors and STFs. Methods: A sample of 125 home caregivers participated in a questionnaire study and reported work interruptions, unreasonable tasks, quality-threatening time pressure, conscientiousness, attentional cognitive failures, and STFs. Results: In structural equation modeling, the mediation model was shown to fit empirical data. Indirect paths with attentional cognitive failures as the link between work stressors and STF were all significant in bootstrapping tests. An alternative accident-prone person model, that suggests individual differences in conscientiousness to predict attentional cognitive failures that predict more frequent work stressors and STFs, showed no significant paths between work conditions and STFs. Conclusion: To prevent occupational injury, work should be redesigned to reduce work interruptions, unreasonable tasks, and quality-threatening time pressure in home care.

  • The aim of this study was to identify factors influencing problem drinking among the Echo Generation in South Korea and provide basic data for early intervention and mediation of problem drinking among the Echo Generation. This descriptive study performed a secondary analysis of raw data from the 2018 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and used responses for problem drinking items from 999 Echo Generation participants born between 1979 and 1992. This study comprehensively investigated sociodemographic and health-related factors influencing problem drinking among the Echo Generation. SPSS WIN program (version 26.0) was used for data analysis. Gender (β=-.32, p<.001), education level (β=.10, p=.002), white-collar workers out of job (β=-.09, p=.041), and depression (β=.11, p<.001) were identified as factors that influenced problem drinking among the Echo Generation. Results of this study suggest that in order to prevent problem drinking among the Echo Generation, there should be user-customized prevention education and intervention programs.

  • The elderly population is increasing owing to a low fertility rate and an aging population. In addition, life expectancy is increasing, and the advancement of medicine has increased the importance of health to most people. Therefore, government and companies are developing and supporting smart healthcare, which is a health-related product or industry, and providing related services. Moreover, with the development of the Internet, many people are managing their health through online searches. The most convenient way to achieve such management is by consuming nutritional supplements or seasonal foods to prevent a nutrient deficiency. However, before implementing such methods, knowing the nutrient status of the individual is difficult, and even if a test method is developed, the cost of the test will be a burden. To solve this problem, we developed a questionnaire related to nutrient classification twice, based upon which an adaptive algorithm was designed. This algorithm was designed as a machine learning based algorithm for nutrient classification and its accuracy was much better than the other machine learning algorithm.
