The power plants use turbine output control devices to supply or shut off steam to high pressure and low-pressure steam turbines connected to generators. This turbine output control device is driven by a hydraulic servo actuator. The gas flows into the hydraulic servo actuator during periodic inspection or normal operation, and the resulting adiabatic compression of the gas raises the internal temperature of the actuator to $500^{\circ}C$. This temperature increase causes the seals to burn and show wear and tear, resulting in failure. In this study, an air vent valve was installed to allow gas inside the hydraulic servo actuator to flow large quantities of air at the beginning of the operation and after the periodic inspection. Gas was passed through for only minute flow during normal operation of the power plant. By applying the air vent valve, it improves the reliability of the hydraulic servo actuator by discharge the gas appropriately to improve the life of the seal.
This paper presents a new type of hydraulic servo chllinder which is characterized by its simple construction and an ubtegrated feedback mechanism. Piston position of the cylinder is controlled by eletrical input and mechamical feedback deduced from its own structure. Hydraulic pressure in each cylinder room is controlled by a poppet valve. The poppet is activated by a solenoid and is linked to the piston. Solenoid input current pulls up the poppet, which results in pressure drop and thus piston motion. The piston motion generates pull down force on the poppet by the linkage and the motion stops at equilibrium. In that way the piston position is controlled by an expernal input current. Characteristics of the servo cylinder is verified by stability analysis, tranient vehavior and steady state positing for step input. Design parameter analyses have been executed by derivation of analytical approximate solutions and by computer simulations. A prototype hydraulic servo cylinder is developed and tested. The experimental results show successful function of the servo cylinder and consistency with the theoritical results.
Electro-pneumatic servo valve is an electro-mechanical device which converts electric signals into a proper pneumatic flow rate or pressure. In order to improve the overall performance of pneumatic servo systems, electro-pneumatic servo valves are required, which have fast dynamic characteristics, no air leakage at a null point, and can be fabricated at a low-cost. The objective of this research is to design and to fabricate a new electro-pneumatic servo valve which satisfies the above-mentioned requirements. In order to design the mechanism of the servo valve optimally, the flow inside the valve depending upon the position of spool was analyzed variously, and on the basis of such analysis results, the valve mechanism, which was formed by combination of the spool and the sleeve, was designed and manufactured. Further, the performance of pneumatic servo valve has been verified through an overall performance test on the developed product.
In this paper, high-pressure injection characteristic of servo hydraulic injector as the key component of diesel CRDi system, which is driven by solenoid and piezo-actuator were examined by experimental analysis. High-pressure injection characteristic of standard diesel fuel injected at high pressure up to 160 MPa was investigated at high-pressure chamber by using a high-speed camera for spray visualization and quantitative analysis. By this study, we found that the piezo-driven injector has better performances in controlling the fuel injection with the high pressure, including fuel quantity, spray penetration length and spray velocity, than that of a solenoid-driven injector. In particular, the needle response time for start of injection in piezo-driven injector was faster of about $125{\mu}s$ than that of solenoid-driven injector. Consequently, it is known that the piezo-driven injector has more degrees of freedom in controlling the fuel injection with the high pressure than solenoid-driven injector.
In this paper, we attempt to control the pressure between two specimens using a servo gun in the resistance spot welding process. Servo guns have some advantages over pneumatic guns in that the fast response, the precise position control, and the accurate torque control are assured by virtue of the servo motor control. To demonstrate the practical significance of our results, we present some experimental results..
Comparison 3-port servo system with 4-port is made to obtain optimal design for heavy and unidirectional hydraulic system, It is concluded that 3-port servo system it more adequate than 4-port for the heavy load system which is usually operated at lower frequencies. High performance electro-hydraulic position controller is designed using 3-port servo valve. It includes dynamic pressure feedback as a inner loop and position feedback as a outer loop.
In this study, the pneumatic servo valve was developed, and the study results could be summarized as follows; 1. A servo solenoid was designed, and its electromagnetic field was interpreted and the system's transient response was identified by using a commercial analysis program. 2. A program for analysis the flow in the spool was developed, and a study was conducted on the flow rate of the nozzle depending upon the pressure ratio between the upstream pressure and the downstream pressure, when the valve is fully opened in the spool and the flow force depending upon a displacement of the spool in the valve. 3. A PWM analog controller was designed and manufactured in...
In offset or intaglio printing machine, it's operated with combination of blanket cylinder and impression cylinder. The blanket cylinder has some number of grooves to attach the blanket on surface. In case of operating the printing machine, it has generate mechanical impact noise when the two cylinders encounter with the grooves. So, in this study, we developed a printing pressure control algorithm with hydraulic servo control system. We also proposed simulation model of experimental device to analysis the throw on force response of hydraulic servo actuator. Finally, we have reduced the mechanical impact noise and improved printing quality with a groove detecting signal and PI control of hydraulic servo actuator.
The direct drive servo valve(DDV) is composed of a DC rotor, link, valve spool and displacement sensor(LVDT) where the spool is directly coupled to the DC motor through the link. Since the DDV is a kind of one-stage valve, the robust controller is required to overcome the flow force effect on the spool motion. The mathematical equations are derived and the stability, accuracy and response speed of a DDV are investigated analytically using a linearized system block diagram. Proportional control, PID control. Time-Delay control, Sliding Mode control, and Proportional control using the load pressure are applied to DDV to find which one shows the best control performance. The digital computer simulation results show that the proportional control using the load pressure satisfies the design requirement of response speed and steady state error regardless of the variation of load pressure,
A mock circulatory loop system has been developed to construct a simulator for trainees in cardiopulmonary bypass systems or to simulate a test environment for cardiac-assist devices. This paper proposes a computerized mock circulatory loop system whose node is modularized by using a servo control flow regulator to simulate dynamic change of the hemodynamic status. To observe the effect of time-varying resistance, one with hemodynamic properties, the proposed system replicates the planned cross-sectional areas of the outlet of a ventricular assist device in terms of voltage input of a servo valve. The experiment is performed (1) for steady-input commands of selected area sizes and (2) for dynamic commands such as monotonous increase and decrease, and oscillatory functions of the voltage input, and a computer program based on LabVIEW (National Instruments, Austin, USA) processes every measured data and control command to the servo valve. The results show that the pressure and flow at the target points with respect to time-varying resistance match intuitive estimation: the pressure at the outlet and the pressure drop between both sides of the valve increased and the flow at the outlet decreased for increased resistance.
