  • This paper deals with pressure ripple and noise reduction characteristics for a hydrostatic transmission(HST) consisting of a variable axial piston pump connected in an open loop to a fixed displacement axial piston motor. Pressure ripples in HST is major source of vibration, which can lead to fatigue failure of components and cause noise. In order to reduce the pressure ripple, an annular tube type hydraulic filter proposes to absorb pressure ripples with the high frequencies components to achieve better noise attenuation in HST. The basic principle tube is applied to propagation of pressure wave, reflection, absorption in cross section of discontinuity and resonance in the hydraulic pipeline. It is experimently confirmed that a hydraulic filter is absorbed to be about 30∼40dB of pressure ripple with high frequencies. These results will assist in modeling and design of noise reduction in hydraulic control systems, and here, should provide a means of designing a quieter HST.

  • This paper deals with pressure ripple attenuation far separated-type Hydrostatic Transmission (HST) consisting ova variable axial piston pump connected in an open loop to a fried displacement axial piston motor. Pressure ripples in HST is major source of vibration which can lead to fatigue failure of components and cause noise. In order to reduce the pressure ripple, an annular tube tripe hydraulic filter is proposed to attenuate pressure ripples with the high frequencies components to achieve better noise reduction in HST. The basic principle of a hydraulic filter is allied to propagation of pressure wave, reflection, absorption in cross section of discontinuity and resonance in the hydraulic pipeline. It is experimentally shown that the hydraulic filter attenuates about 30∼40dB of pressure ripple with high frequencies. • In this paper, an expansion-resonator type pulsation attenuator is proposed to absorb and attenuate flow an pressure ripple with high frequencies generated from hydraulic control systems. The basic principle of a pulsation attenuator proposed here is applied to propagation, reflection, absorption of pressure waves at the cross section of discontinuity and resonance in the pipeline. It has advantage of the compact size and high degree fo freedom for installation in hydraulic systems. The design scheme based on distributed parameter pipeline system with dissipative viscous compressible model is developed. To investigate the reduction of flow and pressure ripple with high frequencies produced by swash plate type axial piston pump, two kinds of attenuators are manufactured. It is experimently confirmed that the spectral intensity of flow and pressure ripple with high frequencies from the pump are reduced up to about 20$^{\circ}$~30dB by using attenuators proposed here. The calculated results were in good agreement with the measured values. From there sults of this study, it is shown that an expansion-resonator type pulsation attenuator is effective in a wide frequency ranges to attenuate the flow and pressure ripple from hydraulic components.

  • Pressure ripple of hydraulic vane pump results form flow ripple due to pump geometry and reverse flow through the discharge port due to compressibility of fluid and result in vibration and noise of connected hydraulic elements. In a ba;anced type vane pump, cam ring curve is important factor to influence the flow ripple. Therefore, to reduce the now ripple, it has been required that optimal selection of seal region by proper design of cam ring and each port position, and notches for preventing the excessive reverse flow. This paper has been performed analytical study of compression characteristics with major design parameter in side plate and cam ring, and examined into the role of notch and radius reduction ratio.

  • This paper investigates a fast, accurate and inexpensive hydraulic motor speed control system using high speed on-off solenoid valves. In order to retain the advantages of the two position valve and obtain better performance, the valves are operated by pulse width modulation(PWM) control. PWM signal is generated from a LabWIEW program in microcomputer in order to set up various duty ratio and frequency of carrier wave in PWM signal with varying system parameters. As the results of experiments, the speed control of a hydraulic motor was successfully implemented using on-off solenoid valves. In order to attenuate the pressure ripple and speed variation due to discontinuously controlled flow through the on-off valves, a resonator hose fabricated for automobile power steering system was connected between the valve and a hydraulic motor. From experimental results obtained in the hydraulic motor system with a resonator hose, it was ascertained that the resonator hose showed excellent performances in reducing pressure ripple and motor speed variation.

  • Pressure ripple, vibration and noise level are measured in each parts of the power steering system. MD(Mahalanobis Distance) is calculated by using MTS(Mahalanobis Taguchi System) with measured data, and noise sensitive components are selected. The components applied detail design parameters are made and data is measured. After that MD is calculated also. Mean value and SN ratio can be obtained from the MD. Effective noise reduction technique and dominant design parameters in hydraulic power steering system are introduced.

  • This study investigated the design factors of the opening area in order to consider the kinematic stability of a valve plate, conducting an analysis of the reduction effects of pressure pulsation and flow ripple depending on the design factors, using the $SimulationX^{(R)}$ (Germany) hydraulic analysis program. Further, we performed a structure analysis to confirm the kinematic stability of the valve plate in a swash plate type piston pump, and analyzed the effects of pulsation on a 1-step V-type notch, 2-step V-type notch, and 2-step U-type notch to determine the effects of pulsation reduction. Finally, we show the effectiveness of our proposed design of the pre-compression sections on a valve plate in terms of low pulsation by using the hydraulic analysis program, $SimulationX^{(R)}$.

  • As enforced the regulation of fuel efficiency, the electrification of automotive components in internal combustion vehicle has been applied instead of hydraulic pressure. A typical example of such parts is the EPS (electric power steering), and it is applied to most automotive at present. In electric power steering system, the core component is motor. The reduction of cogging torque and torque ripple is required to improve steering feeling and reduce NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) in EPS. Generally the skewed design of stator or rotor is applied in order to reduce cogging torque and torque ripple. This paper propose the design and analysis methodology of Brusheless PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) which is applied to skewed stator. The proposed methodology is as follows: First Intial Design PMSM with skewed stator for EPS, Second Optimal design using RSM (Response surface method), Third Performance Analysis such as Phase Back EMF, Inductance, Load torque using FEA (Finite Element Method). Finally, the reliability of proposed design methodology will be verified through the experiments of prototype sample.
