This article describes the calculation procedure for the dynamic characteristics of a high-pressure labyrinth seal wherein the friction force and rotor whirling force are considered; SFCP, the commercial code developed by Lee and two colleagues, is used in the procedure. The simulation results were reviewed in comparison to those of the experiments provided by Benckert; additionally, the SFCP simulation results were verified using the CFD analysis presented by Toshio Hirano. This calculation procedure may therefore be applied to the dynamic characteristics of the labyrinth seals of high-pressure turbo machinery.

It is well known, for many years, that deep drawability can be improved by applying variable blank holding force. To apply variable blank holding force during cup during, we set up pressure controlling system on experimental hydraulic press, and the pressure control system is often called NC(Numerically Controlled) cushion system Using the NC cushion system we compared the drawability of square steel cups with NC cushion and that with conventional cushion. The results show drawability is greatly improved when the pressure control curve is designed in a S-shaped curve. This paper includes design details of the NC cushion system and experimental analysis of drawability with experimental NC cushion system.

The paper describes a new mean specific cutting pressure model in order to improve the accuracy of prediction of cutting force for face milling. The new mean specific cutting pressure model produces a mean specific cutting pressure and coefficients applied to existing cutting model not by traditional method but by considering intermittence and variation of chip width according to insert cutting position to take into cutter geometry machining condition and width of workpiece, and considering a mean measure force according to spindle eccentricity and mean measure force according to spindle eccentricity and insert initial position errors.. The simulated forces in X, Y, Z directions resulted from the simulated cutting model and the new cutting model are compared with measured forces in the time end frequency domains. The simulated forces in the time and frequency domains. The simulated forces resulted from the new cutting model have a good degreement with measured forces in comparison with these resulted from the existing cutting model
Dynamic characteristics of the short circuit mode are investigated using the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method. When the initial molten drop volume, contact area and wire feed rate are given, rate change of the molten bridge profiles, pressure and velocity distributions are predicted. The electromagnetic force with proper boundary conditions are included in the formulation to consider the effects of welding current. It is found that the molten metal is transferred to the weld pool mainly due to the pressure difference caused by the curvatures in the initial stage, and electromagnetic force becomes dominant factor in the final stage of short circuit transfer. Necking occurs at the contact position between the molten drop and weld pool, and the initial molten drop volume and welding current have significant effects on break-up time.

Human Robot Interaction(HRI) through a haptic interface plays an important role in controlling robot systems remotely. The augmented usage of bio-signals in the haptic interface is an emerging research area. To consider operator's state in HRI, we used bio-signals such as ECG and blood pressure in our proposed force reflection interface. The variation of operator's state is checked from the information processing of bio-signals. The statistical standard variation in the R-R intervals and blood pressure were used to adaptively adjust force reflection which is generated from environmental condition. To change the pattern of force reflection according to the state of the human operator is our main idea. A set of experiments show the promising results on our concepts of human adaptive interface.

A hybrid dust-collector combining a fabric filter with centrifugal force was developed to enhance the performance of the conventional fabric filter systems and its performances were evaluated to compare to that of the existing dust collector. The pressure drop rapidly increased with increasing the elapsed time and the face velocity in two filtration systems. But the increasing ratio of a hybrid dust-collector compare to the existing dust collector was lower. This results were confirmed from the performance such as cleaning interval, residual pressure drop and dust loading rate. The overall collection efficiency of the hybrid dust-collector was more than 99.6% and this showed a improvement of 0.6~2% than that of the existing dust collector. Especially, the fractional collection efficiency at the particle size of around 1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ is about 4% higher than that of the existing dust collector.
Arc pressure is one of important factors in understanding physical arc phenomena. Especially it affects on the penetration, size and shape of TIG welding. Some researches were reported on the effect of arc pressure in low and middle current region. But there are not any research in high current region. The purpose of this study is to investigate the arc pressure distribution with mixing ratio of shield gas such as Ar and He gases. A Cu block with water cooling was specifically designed and used as an anode electrode in order to measure the arc pressure in high current region. Then, the arc pressure distribution was measured with change in welding current and mixing ratio of shield gases. The arc force was obtained by numerically integrating the measured results. As the results, it was shown that the arc pressure was concentrated at the central part of the arc in middle and high current regions when a pure Ar gas was used. In case of Ar + He mixing gas, the arc pressure was much lower than that of pure Ar gas. In addition, it was widely distributed to radial direction.
A pressure compensated chamber of a pilot mining robot isolates and protects an electrical-electronic system from the ambient highly pressured water. Since the inner pressure of the chamber is compensated with outer water pressure using hydraulic oil and pressure compensator, there exists a pressure difference, less than 1 bar, between outer and inner surface. The structural safety of the chamber is obtained relatively easier than the canister type which inner pressure is kept as the atmospheric pressure. However, due to the adoption of box shape for space efficiency and usage of the transparent engineering plastic viewport for checking inner circumstance, the viewport can be largely deformed. This large deformation can cause an additional tensile force, called the prying force, to the bolt-flange connection parts of the viewport. In this paper, we suggest the structural design equation considering the prying action for designing the structure of a box-shape pressure compensated chamber.
Simultaneous pressure and force measurements have been conducted on a stationary box deck section model for two configurations (namely without and with New Jersey traffic barriers) at various angles of incidence. The mean and fluctuating aerodynamic coefficients and pressure coefficients were derived, together with their spectra and with the coherence functions between the pressures and the total aerodynamic forces. The mean aerodynamic coefficients derived from force measurements are first compared with those derived from the integration of the pressures on the deck surface. Correlation between forces and local pressures are determined in order to gain insight on the wind excitation mechanism. The influence of the angle of incidence on the pressure distribution and on the fluctuating forces is also analysed. It is evidenced how particular deck section areas are more responsible for the aerodynamic excitation of the deck.

The radiated sound pressure induced by low-velocity impact is obtained by solving the Rayleigh integral equation. This paper established the sound analysis procedure using impact analysis model. For structurally radiated noise, the sound field is directly coupled to the structural motion. Therefore the impact response should be analyzed. The impact response is computed using the spring-mass model. And the influence of damage on the sound pressure and impacted force history of laminated were investigated. The results show that both radiated sound pressure and impact force history are strongly influenced by damage on laminated.
