Rapid prototyping is an efficient method to evaluate the usability of electric home appliances. However, the use of rapid prototyping method in usability tests has not been sufficiently validated. The purpose of this study was to validate computer-generated prototypes whether they can replace real products in usability tests. The control-display panel of a refrigerator was selected for this study. Sixteen female subjects participated in a between-subjects experiment: Eight subjects of them used the real refrigerator while others used the computer-generated prototype of the refrigerator. The difference between the refrigerator and the prototype was analyzed in terms of task failure rate, task completion time, and the number of buttons pressed for three typical tasks: clock setting, selecting an operation mode for refrigerating room, and selecting an rapid freezing mode. The results of a non-parametric statistical test showed that the prototype was not significantly different from the real refrigerator. Therefore, the rapid prototyping technique can be applied to the usability tests for the simple electric home appliances such as the refrigerator.
The purpose of this study is to identify the phases of four different types, low-copper lathe cut (Type II, class 1) and spherical (Type II, class 2) amalgam alloys which are made by Caulk company and high copper Dispersalloy (Type II, class 3) made by Johnson & Johnson and Tytin (Type I, class 2) made by S.S. White and to determine the Vickers hardness number on the individual phase and four different types of dental amalgam. After each amalgam alloy and Hg measured exactly by the balance was triturated by the mechanical amalgamator (De Trey), the triturated mass was inserted into the cylindrical metal mold which was 4 mm in diameter and 12mm in height and was pressed by the Instron Universal Testing machine (Model 1125) at the speed of 1mm/minute with 143$kg/cm^2$ according to the A.D.A. Specification No. 1. The Specimen removed from the mold, mounted and stored in the room temperature for 7 days. The speciman was polished with the emery paper from #220 to #1200 and finally on the polishing cloth with 0.3 and 0.05 um $Al_2O_3$ powder suspended in water. And then each specimen was etched by Allan's method and washed with Sodium Bisulfinite for 30 seconds. Finally differentiation and metallography on each phase were obtained by using metallographical microscope (Versamet, Union) and microhardness was obtained by using microhardness tester (MVH-2, Torsee). The results were as follows: 1. In the low-copper amalgam, the ${\gamma}$, ${\gamma}_1$ and ${\gamma}_2$ phase were observed and in the high-copper amalgam, the ${\gamma}$, ${\gamma}_1$. ${\epsilon}$ and ${\eta}$ phases were observed but ${\gamma}_2$ phase was not observed. 2. Among the microhardness of each amalgam phase measured under pressing a vickers diamond indenter with 2.0gm load for 30 seconds, e phase has the highest V.H.N (314 ${\pm}$ 20), and in low-copper amalgam 12 phase has the lowest V.H.N. (29${\pm}$1) and ${\eta}$ phase which was observed in high-copper amalgam has 230${\pm}$13 V.H.N and this phase is considerd to contribute to strengthen the handness in amalgam. 3. The V.H.N. measured under pressing a Vickers diamond indenter with 300.0gm load for 30 seconds in low-copper amalgam was lower than that of high-copper amalgam.
This experiment was carried out to evaluate the possibility of wine-making with Elderberry cultivated in Korea. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The Elderberry fruits were composed of 82.8% moisture, 0.82% crude fat, 3.73% crude protein and 0.83% crude ash. 2. The Elderberry juices were composed of 9.2% sugar, 0.62% total acidity (as tartaric acid), pH 4. 46 and the percentage juice extraction ratio from fruits was 61.4%. 3. In fermentation experiments carried out with two strains, Saccharomyces cerevisiae ellipsoideus showed better characteristics for wine-making than Saccharomyces cerevisiae montrachet. 4. In fermentation experiments carried out with Saccharomyces cerevisiae ellipsoideus under different storage conditions, frozen fruits showed better characteristics for wine-making than dried fruits. 5. In fermentation experiments carried out with Saccharomyces cerevisiae ellipsoideus under different pressing times, red wine and pink wine showed little difference. 6. The results of organic acid contents determined by gas chromatography showed that citric acid was the main acid for frozen fruit, and lactic acid for both dried fruit and wines. 7. Sensory evaluation showed that the wine pressed at the 3rd day had the best palatability but the wine fermented with the dried fruits had the worst among the tested.

Optimal Pressable Ceramic is one of the all-ceramic restorations with a shaded translucent pressed core and layering porcelains. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the marginal fidelity according to margin types and measurement sites, and to evaluate fracture strength according to margin types. Twenty seven OPC crowns made according to 3 types of cervical finishing lines were used in this study. Marginal gaps were measured before and after cementation. A Steromicroscope(SZ-ST(R), Olympus, Japan) was used to measure the space between the margin of OPC crown and the finishing line of metal model. Marginal gaps were measured at the labial, mesial, lingual and distal site, which were demonstrated in advance. Fracture strength testing was carried out using an Instron(Model M100EC, Mecmesin, England) at a cross head speed of 5 mm/min. All crowns were loaded until catastrophic failures occurred. The result were as follow: 1. In comparison according to variable margin before cementation, the marginal gap were increased in chamfer margin($47.50{\pm}18.39{\mu}m$), $120^{\circ}$shoulder margin ($55.21{\pm}14.4{\mu}m$) and $90^{\circ}$shoulder margin($71.18{\pm}13.30{\mu}m$) in ascending order, and there were significant differences between chamfer margin and $90^{\circ}$shoulder margin, $120^{\circ}$shoulder margin and between $120^{\circ}$shoulder margin and $90^{\circ}$shoulder margin respectively(p<0.05). 2. In comparison according to variable margin after cementation, the gap discrepancies were increased in chamfer margin($60.78{\pm}30.37{\mu}m$), $120^{\circ}$shoulder margin($66.67{\pm}11.18{\mu}m$) and $90^{\circ}$shoulder margin($85.78{\pm}17.23{\mu}m$) in ascending order, but there was significant difference only between chamfer margin and $90^{\circ}$shoulder margin(p<0.05). 3. Labio-lingual points showed a better marginal fidelity than that of proximal point(p<0.05). 4. Chamfer margin($48.76{\pm}8.45kgf$) showed higher fracture strength than $120^{\circ}$ shoulder margin($40.57{\pm}7.90kgf$) and $90^{\circ}$ shoulder margin(32.7.90kgf) (p<0.05), but there was significant difference only between chamfer margin and $90^{\circ}$ shoulder margin(p<0.05).
The effect of A1$_4$C$_3$ additive on the thermoelectric properties of SiC ceramics were studied. Porous SiC ceramics with 47∼59% relative density were fabricated by sintering the pressed $\alpha$-SiC powder compacts with A1$_4$C$_3$at 2100∼220$0^{\circ}C$ for 3 h in Ar atmosphere. Crystalline phases of the sintered bodies were identified by powder X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and their microstructures were observed with a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). In the case of A1$_4$C$_3$ addition, the phase transformation of 6H-SiC to 4H-SiC could be observed during sintering. The Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity were measured at 550∼95$0^{\circ}C$ in Ar atmosphere. In the case of undoped specimens, the Seebeck coefficients were positive (p-type semiconducting) possibly due to a dominant effect of the acceptor impurities (Al, Fe) contained in the starting powder and electrical conductivity increased as increasing sintering temperature. Electrical conductivity of A1$_4$C$_3$doped specimen is larger than that of undoped specimen under the same condition, which might be due to the reverse phase transformation and increasing of carrier density. And the Seebeck coefficient of A1$_4$C$_3$ doped specimen is also larger than that of undoped specimen. The density of specimen, the amount of addition and sintering atmosphere had significant effects on the thermoelectric property.

We synthesized and investigated $La_{0.75}Sr_{0.25}FeO_3$ by Glycine Nitrate Process(GNP) method used as cathode materials for SOFC(solid oxide fuel cell). Optimized amount of glycine is 3.17 mol. ICP elemental composition analysis indicated that the stoichiometry of the synthesized powders have nearly nominal values. SEM images and XRD patterns reveal that the synthesized powder has uniform size distribution and high degree of crystallinity. The sample powders were isostatically pressed to form a pellet. The green body was sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ and the relative density of the sintered specimens were measured by Archimedes mettled. We measured electrochemical performance of LSF by AC impedance spectroscopy. Resistance of LSF shows lower value than that of LSM throughout all temperature region. The anode-supported solid oxide fuel cell showed a performance of $342mW/cm^2(0.7V,\;488mA/cm^2)$ at $750^{\circ}C$. The electrochemical characteristics of the single cell were examined by at impedance method.
This study was conducted to develop a spray-dried garlic chives (Allium tuberosum) powder and to evaluate its quality characteristics depending on the treatment of steam blanching pretreatment $100^{\circ}C$, 3 min) and the addition of forming agents (dextrin (DE=10), ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin) during process. The steam blanching pretreatment showed an increase in $L^*$ value while a decrease in $-a^*$, $b^*$, $C^*$, and $h^o$ values of the powder. Moisture content and water soluble index were not affected by the treatment of steam blanching and the addition of forming agents, whereas the particle diameter was the smallest in the steam blanching treatment and dextrin addition. Chlorophyll, phenolic compound, and vitamin C content, and DPPH radical scavenging activity of non-pretreated powder were significantly higher than those of the steam blanching treated powders. However, there was no significant difference between the two forming agents. The sensory acceptability (color, smell, and overall acceptability) of powder treated with steam blanching were significantly higher than those of non-pretreated powders. Therefore, the steam blanching pretreatment of fresh garlic chives affected on the better quality characteristics of the spray-dried powders when compared with non-pretreated powder though it adversely affected the natural chemical quality of fresh garlic chives.
Resin-modified glass ionomers were introduced in 1988 to overcome the problems of moisture sensitivity and low early mechanical strengths of the conventional glass ionomers, and to maintain their dinical advantages. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the bi-axial fracture strength of four resinmodified glass-ionomers(Fuji II LC, Vitremer, Dyract, VariGlass), one resin composite material(Z-100), and one conventional glass-ionomer(Fuji II). Three specimens of each material and shade combination were made according to the manufacturers' instructions. Materials were condensed into metal mold with a diameter of 10mm and a thickness of 2.0mm and pressed between two glass plates. Resin-modified glass ionomers were polymerized using a Visilux II light curing unit by irradiating for 60 seconds from both sides, and conventional glass ionomer was cured chemically. After specimens were removed from the molds, surfaces were polished sequentially on wet sandpapers up to No. 600 silicone carbide paper. The specimens were thermocycled for 2,000 cycles between $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$ distilled water. After thermocycling, bi-axial fracture strengths were measured using a compressive-tensile tester(Zwick 1456 Z020, Germany) with the cross head speed of 0.5mm/minute. The results were as follows: 1. Two factors of the kind and color of materials had a main effect on bi-axial fracture strength (p<0.01), and bi-axial fracture strength was influenced significantly by the kinds of materials (p<0.01). But there was no significant interaction between two variables of the kind and color of materials (p>0.05). 2. Comparing the mechanical properties of the materials, the elastic modulus of Z100 was higher than any other material, and there was no difference in the displacement at fracture among materials. The bi-axial fracture strength of Z100 was significantly higher than any other material, and that of resin-modified glass ionomers was significantly higher than that of conventional glass ionomer (p<0.05). 3. In the same material group, the color of material had little influence on the mechanical properties.
The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the sample F $e_{0.8}$$Co_{0.18}$(BN)$_{0.02}$ synthesized by microwave arc-melting with the maximum power of 3.5 kW have been studied by the methods of an X-ray diffraction and the measurement of the magnetic hysteresis using the vibrating sample magnetometer at room temperature. The samples were prepared in a form of pellet pressed under the pressure of 9,000 N/c $m^2$, rolled coldly, and treated with the different temperatures. The X-ray diffraction pattern of pelleted sample shows that the crystal structure of the sample is bcc as same as that of Fe with a good uniformity. The X-ray diffraction pattern shows that a residual stress, which exists in the sample, is eliminated by final 90$0^{\circ}C$ annealing. As rolling rate and heat treatment temperature increases, the saturation magnetization and the remanence of the samples increase whereas the coercivity of the samples shows decrease. Also the saturation magnetization and the remanence of the samples were affected by rolling rate and rolling direction than heat treatment temperature, but the coercivity of the samples was affected by rolling rate and direction as well as heat treatment temperature. This means that a domain wall motion is easy due to elimination of a residual stress and an inclusion which exists in the sample by rolling and heat treatment and a local induced-magnetization easy axis was also formed to parallel to the rolling direction due to creation of the like-atom pairs across the slip plane by rolling......
In our study, the potential of okara as an ingredient of new bio-based adhesives was investigated for the production of fancy-veneered flooring boards. Okara was hydrolyzed by 1% sulfuric acid solution (AC) and 1% sodium hydroxide solution (AK). Phenol formaldehyde (PF) prepolymers were prepared as a cross-linker of okara hydrolyzates. Then, okara-based adhesive resins were formulated with 35% AC, 35% AK and 30% PF prepolymer on solid content basis. The adhesive resins were applied on high-density fiberboards (HDF) with the spread rate of $300g/m^2$. After that, oak fancy veneers are covered on the HDF, and then pressed with the pressure of $7kg/m^2$ at $120^{\circ}C$. The experimental variables were three mole ratios of formaldehyde to phenol (1.8, 2.1, 2.4), three assembly time (0, 10, 20 min), and two press time (90 sec, 120 sec), respectively. The fancy-veneered high-density fiberboards were tested by dry tensile strength, glueline failure by wetting and formaldehyde emission. Tensile strength of the boards exceeded the requirement of KS standard. The formaldehyde emissions were approached at the E0 level specified in KS standard. Based on these results, okara can be used as an ingredient of environmentally friendly adhesive resin systems for the production of flooring boards.
