  • The method for enhancing the edges from medical images is described. The various methods are tested for the medical Images contaminated by noises, such as weighted averaging based on local probabilities, unsharp masking techniques, and proposed combined techniques. As a result, the combined technique using the median filtering and edge masks in six directions is well suited to remove the noises as to as to preserve the edges. Experimental results and computational procedures are presented.

  • Human being have destroyed environment through rapid industrialization, so that the world is increasingly faced with golbal environmental problem such as destruction of ozone layer, global warming., acid rain, decertification and we are heading toward impending disaster of the earth. Especially, recent environmental pollution of China from rapid economic development threatens neighboring Korea and Japan. Regional development are necessary for promotion of national prosperity, but theses regional developments must have brought about environmental and preservation. Actually there are so many conflict cases; Saemankum reclamation project, construction of nuclear waste storage facility, dam construction of China etc. Here, harmony and balance between development and preservation are needed to solve these great crux. Under theses condition, the concept of ESSD(Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Development) emerged as a global issue. And staring point to solve present environmental problems is to perceive the truth that we have inherited only one earth and hence owe a debt to preserve its environment for the benefit of the future generations.

  • Spatiotemporal phenomena are ubiquitous aspects of real world. In the spatial and temporal databases, integrity constraints maintain the semantics of specific application domain and relationship between domains when proceed update in the database. Efficient maintenance of data integrity has become a critical problem, since testing the validity of a large number of constraints in a large database and after each transaction is an expensive task. Especially, in spatiotemporal domain, data is more complex than traditional domains and very active. Additionally, it is not considered that unified frameworks deal with both spatial and temporal properties to handle integrity constraints. Therefore, there need a model to maintain integrity constraints in the unified frameworks and enforcement and management techniques in order to preserve consistence.

  • Recent demands for representing the location of multivariate data produce various multivariate medians such as Tukey median, Oja median and spatial median. They are considered as multivariate versions of the median which is widely recognized as a robust alternative to the arithmetic mean. Many studies show that those multivariate median preserve the robustness. However, the effectiveness of those medians is not fully identified. In this note the relative efficiencies of the multivariate medians are investigated in various configurations under the bivariate t-distribution. It is shown that Tukey median outperforms the others in most configurations.

  • In this paper we discuss a deconvolution density estimator obtained using the support vector machines (SVM) and Tikhonov's regularization method solving ill-posed problems in reproducing kernel Hilbert space (RKHS). A remarkable property of SVM is that the SVM leads to sparse solutions, but the support vector deconvolution density estimator does not preserve sparsity as well as we expected. Thus, in section 3, we propose another support vector deconvolution estimator (method II) which leads to a very sparse solution. The performance of the deconvolution density estimators based on the support vector method is compared with the classical kernel deconvolution density estimator for important cases of Gaussian and Laplacian measurement error by means of a simulation study. In the case of Gaussian error, the proposed support vector deconvolution estimator shows the same performance as the classical kernel deconvolution density estimator.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide marital information that premarital preparation education program is to actively help families happiness, to be reinforced by the developmental service and the protective service. The premarital education program to help unmarried or premarital couples to begin initial adaptation for successful marriage. This program is to enrich the marital relationship provided with the wholesome, potent marital system as center of a family. and further to development preserve. enhance a healthy, genial family relationship. Particularly the elevated marital relationship. The data were collected for 122 collage students. The data were analyzed by statistical methods such as frequency percentage. This program is for college students as curriculum. So it was consisted of fourteen-sessions. The sessions included as follows: Intimacy & Love. Mate Selection. Understanding Together, Communication, Family Stress & Coping, Understanding Marriage & Family Dynamics. Gender Role & Power Intimacy. Sexuality & Relationship. • The low lumbar spine is deeply located in flexible segments, and has a physiologic lordosis. Therefore, burst fractures of the low lumbar spine are uncommon injuries. The treatment for such injuries may either be conservative or surgical management according to canal compromise and the neurological status. However, there are no general guidelines or consensus for the treatment of low lumbar burst fractures especially in neurologically intact cases with severe canal compromise. We report a patient with a burst fracture of the fourth lumbar vertebra, who was treated surgically but without fusion because of the neurologically intact status in spite of severe canal compromise of more than 85%. It was possible to preserve motion segments by removal of screws at one year later. We also discuss why bone fusion was not necessary with review of the relevant literature.

  • The forces exerted on an object by the end-effectors of multi-manipulators are decomposed into the motion-inducing force and the internal force. Motion-inducing force effects the motion of an object and internal force can't effect it. The motion of an object can't track exactly the desired motion because of internal force component, therefore internal force component must be considered. In this paper using the resolved acceleration control method and the fact that internal force lies in the null space of jacobian matrix, we construct independently the position, motion-inducing force and internal force controller. Secondly we construct the robust controller to preserve the robustness with respect to the uncertainty of manipulator parameters.

  • In this paper, moving a fragile object from an initial point to a specific location in the minimum time without damage is studied. In order to achieve this goal, initially, the maximum acceleration and velocity ranges are specified. These ranges can be dynamically generate on the planned path by the manipulator. The path can be altered by considering the geometrical constraints. Later, considering the impulsive force constraint on the object, the range of maximum acceleration and velocity are obtained to preserve object safety while the manipulator is carrying it along the curved path. Finally, a time-optimal trajectory is planned within the maximum allowable range of acceleration and velocity. This time-optimal trajectory planning can be applied to real applications and is suitable for both continuous and discrete paths.

  • Since the region segmentation at high resolution contains most of viable semantic object contours in an image, the bottom-up approach for image segmentation is appropriate for the application such as MPEG-4 which needs to preserve semantic object contours. However, the conventioal region merging methods, that follow the region segmentation, have poor performance in keeping low-contrast semantic object contours. In this paper, we propose an image segmentation algorithm based on classified region merging. The algorithm pre-segments an image with a large number of small regions, and also classifies it into several classes having similar gradient characteristics. Then regions only in the same class are merged according to the boundary weakness or statisticsal similarity. The simulation result shows that the proposed image segmentation preserves semantic object contours very well even with a small number of regions.
