  • Combined pregnancy occasionally occurs when intrauterine pregnancy is complicated with ectopic pregnancy. The incidence of combined pregnancy is normally rare, but the incidence increases when assisted reproductive technology was conducted for infertility treatment. We had a case of intrauterine pregnancy complicated with tubal pregnancy after IVF-ET cycle was conducted. The tubal pregnancy was removed via pelviscopy, which led to the delivery of healthy offspring at the $39^{th}$ week of pregnancy without additional complication.

  • Purpose: Advanced aged pregnancy may be related with health problems so that more aggressive health care is necessary for these women. This study aimed to provide the basic data for developing nursing intervention programs to enhance the health of pregnant women and their new-born babies and by identifying the advanced aged women's need for pregnancy and childbirth. Methods: It is the cross-sectional descriptive study to identify the advanced aged women's need on pregnancy and childbirth. Subjects were pregnant women 35 years or older and postpartum women. Total number of subjects was 95. Measurement tool is self-reporting survey that consisted of 67 items with four-point Likert scale, which was completed during October to November 2014. Results: Average score was 3.44 out of maximum 4 on the care need on pregnancy and childbirth. Average scores according to category were as follows: baby rearing and parental role, 3.55; preconception care, 3.49; delivery care, 3.47; postpartum care 3.42; and prenatal pregnancy, 3.39. The degree of needs on pregnancy and childbirth was different according to delivery experience (t=-2.49, p=.014). Conclusion: Prenatal and postpartum nursing interventions were completed regardless of pregnant women's age until now; however, new nursing intervention programs are necessary to prevent the risk of advanced aged pregnancy, to provide the preconception care, and to increase the infant care and family support.

  • This purpose of this study was to survey pregnancy stress, self-esteem and depression in pregnant women and to identify factors influencing depression. Data were collected 154 pregnant women. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, t-test, Scheffe's test, Stepwise Regression Analysis, Pearson's correlation coefficient. There was statistically significant difference in pregnancy stress on variable such as planned pregnancy. There were statistically significant difference in self-esteem on variables such as religion, occupation, gestational age. There was statistically significant difference in depression on variables such as planned pregnancy. Pregnancy stress was positively correlated with depression. depression was negatively correlated with self-esteem. Self-esteem was negatively correlated with pregnancy stress. Factor influencing depression were self-esteem, planned pregnancy, pregnancy stress, which explained 30.2%. Findings provide useful information for further studies in antenatal care of pregnant women. Therefore, to promote emotional support of pregnant women, it is necessary to standardized antenatal education program.

  • Pregnancy and delivery pose a high risk of developing metabolic decompensation in women with defects of ketone body metabolism. In this review, the available reported cases in pregnancy are summarized. It is very important to properly manage women with defects of ketone body metabolism during pregnancy, especially nausea and vomiting in the first trimester of pregnancy, and during labor and delivery. Pregnant women with deficiencies of HMG-CoA lyase or succinyl-CoA:3-ketoacid CoA transferase (SCOT) often experience metabolic decompensations with nausea and vomiting of pregnancy, often requiring hospitalization. For successful delivery and to reduce stresses, vaginal delivery with epidural anesthesia or elective cesarean delivery with epidural or spinal anesthesia are recommended for women with HMG-CoA lyase and SCOT deficiency. In beta-ketothiolase deficiency, four pregnancies in three patients had favorable outcomes without severe metabolic problems.

  • Purpose: Liver transplantation (LT) is the best treatment for patients with end-stage liver disease and most patients with LT return to their normal life. However, pregnancy and childbirth for women with LT are less common, mainly because it is considered to be dangerous for their health. The purpose of this study was to describe how Korean women after LT experience their pregnancy and childbirth. Methods: This study was designed to explore the experiences of pregnancy and childbirth of women with LT. Data were collected by individual in-depth interviews with four women who were pregnant and gave birth following LT in 2009. All interviews were audio-taped and transcribed verbatim. The transcribed data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: Four themes emerged as a result of analysis: recovery of lost feminity and marriage; fulfilling roles through pregnancy; life-risking pregnancy; and perfect family achieved by childbirth. These themes describe in detail about challenges and concerns the women with LT faced for their pregnancy and childbirth as well as many emotionally touching experiences. Conclusion: The results of this study would support health professionals to be better prepared to help women with LT for pregnancy and childbirth by providing in-depth and insightful information.

Methods: Data was collected using focus group interviews from June to September, 2010. Forty Korean women participated in 13 focus groups. After obtaining permission from participants, each session of the focus group was audio-taped and transcribed verbatim. The responses were analyzed utilizing qualitative content analysis. Results: Forty women ranging from 26 to 43 participated in the study. The major themes were safety concerns; effects of fetal protection and infection prevention; lack of perceived needs; and encouragement as well as concerns from others. Participants raised questions on whether the vaccine was safe and effective, and concerns about the potential harmful effect of influenza vaccine to their bodies and the fetus. The major reason for influenza vaccination during pregnancy was to protect self and fetus. Also, clinician's recommendation was the facilitating factors for influenza vaccination during pregnancy. Conclusion: The findings suggest that concerns associated with influenza vaccination should be considered when educating childbearing women about the influenza vaccine during pregnancy.

  • Purpose: To develop Pregnancy Risk symptom Perception Scale (PRPS) and evaluate its validity and reliability. Methods: A preliminary 30-item version of PRPS was developed through literature review, in-depth interview, and Content Validity. Each item was scored on a four-point Likert scale. The preliminary scale was developed based on 301 pregnant women who visited a hospital. Date were analyzed using item analysis, factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ (0.90 for total item, 0.80 to 0.88 for factors). Results: The PRPS consisted of 27 items. Three factors (physical, environmental, and emotional factors) explained 55% of the total variance. Cronbach's Criterion validity was supported by comparison with the Perception of Pregnancy Risk Questionnaire (r=0.34). In reliability test, the reliability coefficient of pregnancy risk symptom perception was high at 0.90. Conclusion: These results suggest that the pregnancy risk symptom perception scale developed in this study comprises items that can assess the level of pregnant women's pregnancy risk symptom perception in Korea. Its validity and reliability were proven. PRPS can be utilized to measure pregnant women's risk symptom perception during pregnancy. PRPS will contribute to the development of systematic prenatal care and effective risk management.
