Zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films were prepared by a sol-gel method. The structural and electrical properties were investigated by varying drying and annealing temperatures. The thin films were coated (250 nm) by spin-coating method on glass substrates. The optimum drying temperature of ZnO thin films was 300$^{\circ}C$ where the resistivity was the lowest and the preferred c-axis orientation was the highest. The annealing was carried out in air and inert atmospheric conditions. The degree of the preferred c-axis orientation was estimated. The highest preferred c-axis orientation was recorded at 600$^{\circ}C$. The preferred c-axis orientation and grain growth resulted in the mobility enhancement of the ZnO thin films, and the lowest resistivity was 0.62${\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ at 600$^{\circ}C$.
Zinc was electrodeposited at temperature from 20$^{\circ}C$ to 60$^{\circ}C$ over the ranges of the current density from 2 to 20 A/dm2 in acid chloride bath. The cathode overpotentials increased with increasing current density and decreasing tem-perature. The (10$.$3)-(10$.$2) preferred orientation developed at cathode overpotentials below about 450mV, the (10$.$3)(10$.$2)-(10$.$1) texture developed at overpotentials between 500mV and 950mV, and the (00$.$1) (10$.$3) texture developed at cathode overpotentials about 1000mV. The (00$.$1) (10$.$3) preferred orientation was also formed at the lower potentials between 400mV and 850mV at temperatures above 40$^{\circ}C$. The preferred orientations of the zinc deposits was discussed was discussed with both cathode overpo-tential and surface energy of deposit lattice planes. The pyramid type of structure with macrostep developed at low cathode overpotentials and the truncated pyramidal type developed at higher overpotenial.
The experiment aimed at knowing the effect of physiology and psychology according to season on color preference. Two tests, one of the spring and the other of the autumn was conducted. Seventy subjects with normal color vision served as subjects. The subjects entered a bioclimatic chamber controlled at a temperature of $25\pm1^{\circ}C$, a relative humidity of $50\pm5\%$ and a light of 1000 1x. The subjects wearing white shirts and trousers sat quietly on a sofa for one our. Sensation from warm to cool colors might be possibly different individually Therefore, a subject asked to array 41 randomly placed cloth colors from very warm to very cool colors during rest quietly for one our. All subjects arrayed these cloth colors in the order from red through yellow and green to blue, which had the reproducibility. After rest, they were instructed to choose a single one out of 41 cloth colors, preferred by themselves, every 10min during one our 0-ring test were measured to red, yellow, white, blue, black, favorite color, and dislike color. Most subjects preferred warmer color in April than in December. Tympanic temperature was significantly lower in December than in April. Finger presser was significantly higher in like color than in dislike color but it was no significant differences between spring and autumn. The preferring the warm color in April toward summer when basal metabolic rate is decreased than in December toward winter when it is increased can explain that physiology reaction by load error between actual core temperature and set-point induces psychological reaction to pursue visual alliesthesia. Our present experiment revealed that the preferred color could be determined by the relationship between the internal temperature and its set point according to season. It should be emphasized that the alliesthesia was observed also in the realm of visual system.
In this study, we investigated and evaluated the air conditioning operation of the driver according to the temperature difference between the inside and outside of a car parked outside during the summer. We suggest including a comfort mode to the car air conditioning system to improve the thermal comfort of the driver, in which the comfort can be maintained for a longer time. For the a result of our experiment, in the cases with temperature of above $45^{\circ}C$ inside of the car, the subjects preferred strong air blow with the face and the arms in the direction of the blow. In the cases with temperature of below $40^{\circ}C$ inside of the car, the subjects preferred lower volume of air blow. In the temperature below $28.1^{\circ}C$ inside of the car, the mean temperature on the skin of the driver reached the comfort zone.
Taguchi’s experimental design was employed in the melt spinning of molten mesophase pitch to produce carbon fibers. The textures of the obtained carbon fibers were radial with varied crack angles, as observed by scanning electron microscopy and polarized optical imaging. The diameter, crack angle, preferred orientation, and tensile modulus of the produced samples were examined to investigate the influence of four spinning variables. The relative importance of the variables has been emphasized for each characteristic. The results show that thicker carbon fiber can be obtained with a smaller entry angle, a higher spinning temperature, a reduced winding speed, and an increased extrusion pressure. The winding speed was found to be the most significant factor in relation to the fiber diameter. While it was observed that thicker carbon fiber generally shows improved preferred orientation, the most important variable affecting the preferred orientation was found to be the entry angle. As the entry angle decreased from 120° to 60°, the shear flow was enhanced to induce more ordered radial alignment of crystallite planes so as to obtain carbon fibers with a higher degree of preferred orientation. As a consequence, the crack angle was increased, and the tensile modulus was improved.
The structural and electrical property of RF magnetron sputtered ZnO thin film have been studied as a function of RF power, substrate temperature, oxygen/argon gas ratio and film thickness at constant sputtering power, sputtering working pressure and target-substrate distance. To analyze a crystallo-graphic properties of the films, $\theta$/2$\theta$ mode X-ray diffraction, SEM, and AFM analyses. C-axis preferred orientation, resistivity and surface roughness highly depended on oxygen/argon gas ratio. The resistivity of ZnO thin film(6000 ${\AA}$) rapidly increased with increasing oxygen ratio and the resistivity value of $9 {\ast} 10^7 {\Omega}cm$ was obtained at a working pressure of 10 mTorr with the same oxygen/argon gas ratio. The surface roughness was also improved with increasing oxygen ratio and the ZnO films deposited with the same oxygen/argon gas ratio showed the excellent roughness value of 28.7 ${\AA}$. With increase of the substrate temperature, The C-axis preferred orientation of ZnO thin film increases and the resistivity decreases due to deviation from the stoichiometric ZnO due to oxygen deficiency.
Brass was electrodeposited over the range of the current densities from 2 to 8 A/$dm^2$ in cyanide bath at 20 and 40$^{\circ}C$. The cathode overpotential increased and the cathode efficiency was decreased respectively with decreasing temperature, increasing current density and addition of organic substance. The perferred orientation of the deposits were associated with the cathode overpotential and the nucleation energy of lattice planes. The (111) preferred orientation developed at the low current density and low cathode overpotential (440-520mV). On the other hand, the (111)+(100) preferred orientation developed at higher cathode overpotential (528-680mV). The (111)+(100) preferred orientation developed over the whole range of overpotential in the cyanide solution with organic additive. The copper content of deposit decreased with increasing current density and decreasing temperature. The morphology of the deposits with no additive was the polygonal body type of structure and the structure of the cross section was columnar structure. The morphology of the deposits with additive, on the other hand, was fine crystallite type of structure. And the structure of the cross section of them was the finer granular structure.
The composition and the microstructure of the lead-tin alloy electrodeposited in a gluconate bath were invesitigated according to electrolysis conditions. The tin content of the lead-tin alloy electrodeposits increased with increasing current density and EDTA addition, while it decreased with increasing temperature and sodium gluconate concentration. The preferred orientation of the alloy deposits changed from the (220) plane through (200) to (200) + (111) planes with increasing cathode overpotential. The surface morphology of the films was closely related to both the preferred orientation and the alloy composition.
YMnO$_3$ thin films were spun-coated on the Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrates by sol-gel process using alkoxides, and then dried on hot plates from 300 to 450 $^{\circ}C$. The prepared YMnO$_3$ thin films were annealed at 850 $^{\circ}C$ in O$_2$ atmosphere for 1 h. The crystallization of YMnO$_3$ thin films were improved to preferred c-axis orientation and the dielectric characteristics were progressed by increasing the drying temperature. The range of dielectric constant of thin film dried at 450 $^{\circ}C$ is 12.9-22.3 and close to that of YMnO$_3$ single crystal. The ferroelecrtic property of YMnO$_3$ thin film was observed on the YMnO$_3$ films. The maximum remnant polarization (2Pr) of YMnO$_3$ thin films dried at 450 $^{\circ}C$ was about 2.91 ${\mu}$ C/cm2. It was suggested that the drying temperature affect to the initial stage of thin film growth of preferred c-axis orientation.
In this paper, we investigated the (002) preferred orientation and morphology characteristics of AlN thin film by using reactive rf sputtering. Additionally, AlN thin films grown in the range from 150 to 300 W were studied under room temperature without substrate heating and post annealing. Sputtered AlN thin films were well grown on Si substrates and the (002) main peak in XRD patterns showed the highest intensity at 300 W with $0.25^{\circ}$ degree of full width at half-maximum (FWHM). As increased RF power, the surface roughness was increased from 1.0 to 3.4 nm. In Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), $A_1$ (TO) and $E_1$ (TO) mode closed to AlN thin film confirmed the changes with increasing the intensity rate. From these results, we could confirm a chance of the growth of AlN thin film by only low temperature.
