QSAR 방법을 이용한 가스 상태의 등온흡착선 예측 (Prediction of Gas Phase Sorption Isotherms on The Basis of QSAR Method)

  • 휘발성 유기물질(VOC)은 많은 경로를 통해 발생되는데, 독성이 있을뿐 아니라 발암물질을 포함하고 있으므로, 이들 물질 제거는 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 휘발성 유기물질 처리를 위해 활성탄을 사용할 경우 처리와 설계를 위해 흡착능력의 연구가 반드시 필요하다. 그러므로, 본 연구에서는 사용할 화합물에 대한 가스 상태의 등온흡착선을 물리적 특성과 액화상태의 등온흡착선으로 부터 예측하였다. 이를 위해 이용된 방법이 quantitative structure-activity relationships(QSAR) 방법이다. 가스 상태의 등온흡착선을 분자연결제수($^2{\chi}$)와 헨리의 계수, 또는 용해도와 가스 상태의 평형농도에 의해서 예측 할 수 있었다. 연구결과, Freundlich 모델을 근거로한 가스 상태의 등온흡착선은 ${\log}\;a_g=0.238\;^2{\chi}+0.573\;{\log}\;H_a+4.330(r^2=0.94)$ 이었다. 결과적으로, 저흡착능력 범위에서 Freundlich 이론을 근거로한 이 방법은 시간소비적 실험을 통하지 않고도 가스 상태의 등온흡착선을 예측할 수 있다는 것을 제시하고 있다.

모형 가스터빈 연소기에서 선회 예혼합화염의 대와동모사(LES) (Large Eddy Simulation of Swirling Premixed Flames in a Model Gas Turbine Combustor)

  • 본 논문에서는 대와동모사를 이용하여 모형 가스터빈 연소기에서 난류 예혼합연소의 선회 유동구조와 화염특성이 검토되었다. 비정상 화염 거동을 모사하기 위하여 G-방정식 화염편 모델이 적용되었다. 결과로서, 입구 선회수 증가에 따른 코너 및 중앙 재순환 유동이 뚜렷한 차이를 보이며, 화염의 길이도 점차 감소됨을 확인 할 수 있었다. 또한 강선회 조건에서 역화현상의 원인이 확인되었다. 정확한 비정상 화염거동의 모사를 위하여, 연소실 내 음향파 거동의 예측성능이 우선적으로 검토되었으며, 스텝 모서리 근처에서 생성된 와동이 화염면 변동에 가장 큰 영향을 주고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 비정상 화염-와동 상호작용에 대한 해석을 통해 선회와 음향파의 전개로부터 생성된 와동의 진동이 화염면 및 열발생의 변동과 밀접하게 관련되어짐을 체계적으로 규명하였다.

다중 회귀 분석을 활용한 Tee-Pipe 버링 공정에서 찢어짐 방지를 위한 피어싱 펀치 형상 최적 설계 (Multiple Regression Analysis for Piercing Punch Profile Optimization to Prevent Tearing During Tee Pipe Burring)

  • A tee is the most common pipefitting used to combine or divide fluid flow. Tees can connect pipes of different diameters or change the direction of a pipe run. To manufacture tee type of stainless steel pipe, combinations of punch piercing and burr forming have been widely used in the industry. However, such method is considerably time consuming with regard to performing empirical work necessary to attain process conditions to prevent upper end tearing of the tee product and meet target tee height. Numerous experiments have shown that the piercing profile is the main cause of defects mentioned above. Furthermore, the mold design is formed through trial and error according to pipe diameters and changes in requirements. Thus, the objective of this study was to perform piercing and burring process analysis via finite element analysis using DYNAFORM to resolve problems mentioned above. An optimization design method was used to determine the piercing punch profile. Three radii of the piercing punch (i.e., large, small, and joined radii) were selected as design variables to minimize thinning of a tee pipe. Based on results of correlation and multiple regression analyses, we developed a predictive approximation model to satisfy requirements for both thickness reduction and target height. The new piercing punch profile was then applied to actual tee forming using the developed prediction equation. Model results were found to be in good agreement with experimental results.

Predictive Thin Layer Drying Model for White and Black Beans

  • Purpose: A thin-layer drying equation was developed to analyze the drying processes of soybeans (white and black beans) and investigate drying conditions by verifying the suitability of existing grain drying equations. Methods: The drying rates of domestic soybeans were measured in a drying experiment using air at a constant temperature and humidity. The drying rate of soybeans was measured at two temperatures, 50 and $60^{\circ}C$, and three relative humidities, 30, 40 and 50%. Experimental constants were determined for the selected thin layer drying models (Lewis, Page, Thompson, and moisture diffusion models), which are widely used for predicting the moisture contents of grains, and the suitability of these models was compared. The suitability of each of the four drying equations was verified using their predicted values for white beans as well as the determination coefficient ($R^2$) and the root mean square error (RMSE) of the experiment results. Results: It was found that the Thompson model was the most suitable for white beans with a $R^2$ of 0.97 or greater and RMSE of 0.0508 or less. The Thompson model was also found to be the most suitable for black beans, with a $R^2$ of 0.97 or greater and an RMSE of 0.0308 or less. Conclusions: The Thompson model was the most appropriate prediction drying model for white and black beans. Empirical constants for the Thompson model were developed in accordance with the conditions of drying temperature and relative humidity.

송전선로의 이용률 평가 및 합리적 운영에 관한 연구 (A Study on Utilization Ratio and Operation of Transmission Lines)

  • This paper describes the concepts of Static Line Rating (SLR) and Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) and the computational methods to demonstrate them. Calculation of the line capacity needs the heat balance equation which is also used for computing the reduced tension in terms of line aging. SLR is calculated with the data from the worst condition of weather throughout the year. Even now, the utilization ratio is obtained from this SLR data in Korea. DLR is the improved method compared to SLR. A process for DLR reveals not only improved line ratings but also more accurate allowed line ratings based on line aging and real time conditions of weather. In order to reflect overhead transmission line aging in DLR, this paper proposes the method that considers the amount of decreased tension since the lines have been installed. Therefore, the continuous allowed temperature for remaining life time is newly acquired. In order to forecast DLR, this paper uses weather forecast models, and applies the concept of Thermal Overload Risk Probability (TORP). Then, the new concept of Dynamic Utilization Ratio (DUR) is defined, replacing Static Utilization Ratio (SUR). For the case study, the two main transmission lines which are responsible for the north bound power flow in the Seoul metropolitan area are chosen for computing line rating and utilization ratio. And then line rating and utilization ratio are analyzed for each transmission line, so that comparison of the present and estimated utilization ratios becomes available. Finally, this paper proves the validity of predictive DUR as the objective index, with simulations of emergency state caused by system outages, overload and so on.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅은 사용자의 위치, 상태, 행동정보, 주변 상황 등의 컨텍스트를 인식할 수 있게 하였는데 이로 인해 사용자에게 필요한 서비스를 빠르고 정확하게 제공해 줄 수 있게 되었다. 이와 같은 개인화 추천 서비스는 사용자의 컨텍스트 정보를 인식하고 해석하는 추론기술이 필요한데 본 논문에서는 실생활과 가장 밀접한 음식점을 날씨, 시간, 요일, 위치의 모바일 컨텍스트 데이터를 기반으로 행동 패턴을 추론하여 추천하는 모델을 연구한다. 연구를 위해 자사에서 직접 서비스 하고 있는 사용자 평가 기반 음식점 추천 서비스의 장소와 사용자 생성 데이터를 활용하였고, 행동패턴을 추론하기 위해 나이브 베이즈 방정식을 사용했다. 그리고 선호도 예측 알고리즘을 활용하여 추천 장소를 선정하였다. 시스템으로 구현하여 평가 기반의 추천 방식보다 본 논문에서 제시한 연구의 우수성도 입증하였다.

중국 스포츠팬들의 운동선수 SNS이용 동기 (What Motivates Chinese Sports Fans to Subscribe to Athletes' Social Networking Service Accounts?)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 중국 스포츠팬들의 운동선수 SNS이용 동기요인을 분석하는 것에 있다. 8명의 중국 올림픽 선수들의 SNS(Weibo)를 선정하여, 선수들의 동의를 얻은 후 온라인 설문지의 하이퍼 링크를 선수들의 SNS상에 게시하였다. SNS를 방문한 스포츠팬들 중 총 274명이 온라인 설문에 참여하였으나, 질문문항의 일괄적인 처리 혹은 무응답, 오기입 등 신뢰성이 떨어진다고 판단되어지는 33부의 설문지를 제외하고 총 241부를 분석에 사용하였다. 확인적 요인분석과 구조방정식모형 분석을 실시한 결과, diversion, pass-time, athlete supports, 그리고 technical knowledge 동기가 SNS이용에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 information, socialization, 그리고 fanship 동기는 SNS이용에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

Prediction of Listeria monocytogenes Growth Kinetics in Sausages Formulated with Antimicrobials as a Function of Temperature and Concentrations

  • This study was conducted to develop a model to describe the effect of antimicrobials [potassium sorbate (PS), potassium lactate (PL), and combined PL and sodium diacetate (SDA, PLSDA)] on the growth parameters of Listeria monocytogenes such as specific growth rate (SGR) and lag phase periods (LT) in air-dried raw sausages as a function of storage temperature (4, 10, 16, and $25^{\circ}C$). Results showed that the SGR of L monocytogenes was dependent on the storage temperature and level of antimicrobials used. The most effective treatment was the 4% PLSDA, followed by the 2% PLSDA and 4% PL and 0.2% PS exhibited the least antimicrobial effect. Increased growth rates were observed with increasing storage temperatures from 4 to $25^{\circ}C$. The growth data were fitted with a Gompertz equation to determine the SGR and LT of the L. monocytogenes. Six polynomial models were developed for the SGR and LT to evaluate the effect of PS (0.1, 0.2%) and PL (2,4%) alone and PLSDA (2, 4%) on the growth kinetics of L. monocytogenes from 4 to $25^{\circ}C$.

Validation of dietary reference intake equations for estimating energy requirements in Korean adults by using the doubly labeled water method

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The doubly labeled water (DLW) method is considered the gold standard for the measurement of total energy expenditure (TEE), which serves to estimate energy requirements. This study evaluated the accuracy of predictive dietary reference intake (DRI) equations for determining the estimated energy requirements (EER) of Korean adults by using the DLW as a reference method. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Seventy-one participants (35 men and 36 women) aged between 20 and 49 years were included in the study. The subjects' EER, calculated by using the DRI equation ($EER_{DRI}$), was compared with their TEE measured by the DLW method ($TEE_{DLW}$). RESULTS: The DRI equations for EER underestimated TEE by -36.3 kcal/day (-1.3%) in men and -104.5 kcal/day (-4.9%) in women. The percentages of accurate predictions among subjects were 77.1% in men and 62.9% in women. There was a strong linear correlation between $EER_{DRI}$ and $TEE_{DLW}$ (r = 0.783, P < 0.001 in men and r = 0.810, P < 0.001 in women). CONCLUSIONS: The present study supports the use of DRI prediction equations to determine EER in Korean adults. More studies are needed to confirm our results and to assess the validity of these equations in other population groups, including children, adolescents, and older adults.

Mandibular shape prediction using cephalometric analysis: applications in craniofacial analysis, forensic anthropology and archaeological reconstruction

  • Background: The human mandible is variable in shape, size and position and any deviation from normal can affect the facial appearance and dental occlusion. Objectives: The objectives of this study were to determine whether the Sassouni cephalometric analysis could help predict two-dimensional mandibular shape in humans using cephalometric planes and landmarks. Materials and methods: A retrospective computerised analysis of 100 lateral cephalometric radiographs taken at Kingston Hospital Orthodontic Department was carried out. Results: Results showed that the Euclidean straight-line mean difference between the estimated position of gonion and traced position of gonion was 7.89 mm and the Euclidean straight-line mean difference between the estimated position of pogonion and the traced position of pogonion was 11.15 mm. The length of the anterior cranial base as measured by sella-nasion was positively correlated with the length of the mandibular body gonion-menton, r = 0.381 and regression analysis showed the length of the anterior cranial base sella-nasion could be predictive of the length of the mandibular body gonion-menton by the equation 22.65 + 0.5426x, where x = length of the anterior cranial base (SN). There was a significant association with convex shaped palates and oblique shaped mandibles, p = 0.0004. Conclusions: The method described in this study can be used to help estimate the position of cephalometric points gonion and pogonion and thereby sagittal mandibular length. This method is more accurate in skeletal class I cases and therefore has potential applications in craniofacial anthropology and the 'missing mandible' problem in forensic and archaeological reconstruction.
