  • The conventional techniques for the prediction of natural frequency are often used to estimate the floor vibration. However. the predicted frequency differs significantly from the measured one since the predicted equation is not able to proper1y treat various material type. Transformation of slab section is necessary to predict natural frequency of composite deck plate, and this effort is complicated due to the various shape of each deck plate. In this study, a new simplified methodology to transform slab section is proposed, which treats effective depth as the distance from the top of a concrete topping to neutral axis of each deck plate. Finally proposed equation with fairly reasonable result compared to the measured values is obtained. based on the modification of vibration equation from LRFD theory. This efforts enhance errors in predicting frequency up to 15%.

  • Acoustic loads generated by a rocket propulsion system cause severe random vibrations on payloads. In developing a new launch vehicle, a random vibration level must be specified before the detailed design of payloads or electronic equipments. This paper deals with prediction procedures of a random vibration level on payload section of KSLV-I. The prediction is based on statistical energy analysis. In order to verify the prediction methodology, test and analysis on a sub-scale payload section are performed. The predicted results subject to very high level of acoustic loads show a good agreement with the test results performed in the high intensity acoustic chamber. The predicted random vibration level on payload section of KSLV-I is also presented in this paper.

  • Prediction models currently being used for road traffic noise in apartment are equation of NIER, HW-NOISE of Korea Expressway Corporation, FHWA of United States, CRTN of United Kingdom, NMPB of France, ASJ RTN-Model 2003 of Japan and ISO 9613-1, 2 as a international standard. ISO 9613 species an engineering method for calculating the attenuation of sound during propagation outdoors in order to predict the levels of environmental noise at a distance from a variety of sources. This study, prior to investigation of every prediction methods listed above, aims to examine the model internationally standardized and to establish a reference for the prediction of road traffic noise in apartment.

  • This Study, as part of a study on the application plan of overseas noise prediction models suitable for making domestic noise maps, analyzed the correlation between the differences in predicted noise levels by individual noise prediction model and surveyed data on General roads and Expressways. Separation distances of 5m and 10m, respectively were set from the ends of the general roads and the expressways at the points of measurements and to check the distribution patterns of sound power levels, the levels were measured at the heights of 1.5m and 3m, respectively. The latest revised versions of the five models (CRTN, RLS90, NMPB, Nord2000, ASJ2008) suggested in The Method of making Noise Maps were used as prediction models, and predicted noise levels were calculated by using commercial software SoundPLAN (Ver 7.1).

  • The small-waterplane-area-twin-hull(SWATH) ship has been recognized as a promising high performance ship because of her superior seakeeping characteristics and large deck area for various operations compared to the conventional monohull ship. significant advances in analytical technics for the prediction of the ship motions, wave loads and structural responses, structural fatigue and its prediction, and hull vibration for ship motions, wave loads and structural responses, structural fatigue and its prediction, and hull vibration for SWATH ship have been much developed during the last twenty years. Based on these developments in technology an integrated computational procedures for prediction wave loads and structural responses can be used to get a accurate results. But the major problem of SWATH ship's structural design is the accurate prediction of structural responses by the maximum critical loads likely to be experienced during the life of SWATH. To get a easier and safer computational procedures and the analytical approach for determining the accurate structural responses, a case study has been presented through the project experienced.

  • Noise and vibration induced by subway operation is one of the major problem for the residents living nearby railway tracks. Many scientists and engineers have been working on proposing the more accurate prediction equation of noise and vibration to provide the better residential environment. Some predictiction equations were determined to compare the measurement value of a noise obtained from the inside of a residential area. It was observed that the condition of a soil type is one of the major parameter which should be considered to obtain the more accurate prediction value of a noise.

  • The increase in logistics and the emergence of high speed vehicles are aggravating the noise problem, and disturbing large numbers of people. Therefore, growing attention is being paid to the creation and utilization of a noise map in order to grasp and predict the influence of noise, and to establish a policy that effectively reduces noise. However, so far there has been little progress in developing a predictive formula for railway noise, and a noise prediction program suitable for the domestic environment. Therefore, there is a need for a method to apply the overseas prediction formula to domestic railway vehicles. This study evaluated the prediction method, the result of which is similar to that of a real measurement, using a noise map. It also employed a commercial software program, SoundPlan, to predict noise.

  • For computer aided design and construction of low noisy power plants, indoor and outdoor noise prediction program has been developed. The program utilizes the predefined data of noise sources and building materials and has the faculty to estimate the source level using the empirical formula in case of the measured data not being available. In the noise prediction, the mutual noise propagation between indoor and outdoor sites are considered. The outdoor noise source in the calculation of geometric divergence effects is modelled as the omni-directional finite line or planar source according to the source geometry and the receiving points. Outdoor noise prediction is carried out to consider the diffraction effect due to plant structures as well as the attenuation effect due to atmospheric absorption and soft ground. The results of indoor and outdoor noise prediction for a recently constructed diesel engine power plant show good agreement with the measured.
