Synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles via aqueous solution routes (수용액 합성법에 의한 ZnO 나노분말의 합성)

  • ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized by aqueous preparation routes of a precipitation and a hydrothermal process. In the processes, the powders were formed by mixing aqueous solutions of Zn-nitrate hexahydrate ($Zn(NO_3)_2{\cdot}6H_2O$) with NaOH aqueous solution under controlled reaction conditions such as Zn precursor concentration, reaction pH and temperature. Single ZnO phase has been obtained under low Zn precursor concentration, high reaction pH and high temperature. The synthesized particles exhibited flakes (plates), multipods or rods morphologies and the crystallite sizes and shapes would be efficiently controllable by changing the processing parameters. The hydrothermal method showed advantageous features over the precipitation process, allowing the precipitates of single ZnO phase with higher crystallinity at relatively low temperatures below $100^{\circ}C$ under a wider pH range for the Zn precursor concentration of 0.1~1 M.

Production of Salidroside in Rhodiloa sachalinensis A. Bor Callus by the Elicitation and Precursor (참돌꽃 (Rhodiola sachalinensis A. Bor) 캘러스에서 elicitor와 전구체에 의한 Salidroside 생산성의 변화)

  • The effect of elicitor and precursor on salidroside production from Rhodiola sachalinensis A.Bor callus cultures was investigated. Callus cultures were treated with yeast extract, soft-ferrite ceramics powder, methyl jasmonate, ascorbic acid, jasmonic acid and $CuCl_2$/$CdCl_2$ as an elicitor. When callus cultures were treated with $0.2g/\ell$ of yeast extract, salidroside production from callus treated with yeast extract is 3.45 times higher than that of the controlled group. Among of them, callus cultures treated with yeast extract produced the highest salidroside. Callus cultures were treated with L-phenylalanine and L-tyrosine as a precursor for 4 days. The result of salidroside content analysis showed that all feeding of precursors not affected salidroside production from callus cultures. In case of L-tyrosine fed into callus cultures, both callus growth and salidroside production decreased at all concentrations.

Magnetic Properties of Co-substituted Ba-ferrite Powder by Sol-gel Method (졸-겔법에 의한 Cobalt 치환된 Ba-ferrite 분말의 자기적 특성)

  • In this study, nano-sized Si-C-N precursor powders were synthesized by Chemical Vapor Condensation Method(CVC) using TMS(Tetramethylsilane: $Si(CH_3)_4$), $NH_3$ and $H_2$ gases under the various reaction conditions of the reaction temperature, TMS/$NH_3$ ratio and TMS/$H_2$ ratio. XRD and FESEM were used to analysis the crystalline phase and the average particle size of the synthesized powders. It was found that the obtained powders under the considering conditions were all spherical amorphous powder with the particle size of 87∼130 nm. The particle size was decreased as the reaction temperature increased and TMS/$NH_3$ and TMS/$H_2$ ratio decreased. As the results of EA analysis, it was found that the synthesized powders had been formed the powders composed of Si, N, C and H. Through FT-IR results, it was found that the synthesized powders were Si-C-N precursor powders with Si-C, Si-N and C-N bonds.

Influence of Precursor on the Electrochemical Properties of Li(Ni0.5Co0.2Mn0.3)O2 Cathode for the Lithium Secondary Battery (전구체의 물성에 따른 리튬 2차전지용 Li(Ni0.5Co0.2Mn0.3)O2의 전기화학적 특성 변화)

  • The one of the cathode material, $Li(Ni_{0.5}Co_{0.2}Mn_{0.3})O_2$, was synthesized by the precursor, $Ni_{0.5}Co_{0.2}Mn_{0.3}(OH)_2$, from the co-precipitation method and the morphologies of the primary particle of precursors were flake and needle-shape by controlling the precipitation parameters. Identical powder properties, such as particle size, tap density, chemical composition, were obtained by same process of lithiation and heat-treatment. The relation between electrochemical performances of $Li(Ni_{0.5}Co_{0.2}Mn_{0.3})O_2$ and the primary particle morphology of precursors was analyzed by SEM, XRD and EELS. In the $Li(Ni_{0.5}Co_{0.2}Mn_{0.3})O_2$ cathode from the needle-shape precursor, the primary particle size was smaller than that from flake-shape precursor and high Li concentration at grain edge comparing grain center. The cycle and rate performances of the cathode from needle-shape precursor shows superior to those from flake-shape precursor, which might be attributed to low charge-transfer resistance by impedance measurement.

  • This paper describes the feasibility for a direct production of zinc oxalate powders from zinc-loaded D2EHPA solutions combining the purification and the precipitation in one operation unit. This process has the potential as an alternative to conventional method for the synthesis of zinc oxide precursor particles from the hydrometal-lurgical processes. Zinc was extracted into D2EHPA in kerosene and then zinc-loaded D2EHPA solution was emulsified with oxalic acid-HCl solution to precipitate zinc oxalate powder, which was readily calcined to zinc oxide. The precipitation kinetics and yield were sensitive to experimental conditions. The morphology, size and size distribution of the zinc oxalate powders varied with zinc/oxalate ion riatio, temperature, and the presence of SPAN 60, which affected nucleation, growth, and the emulsion characteristics.

The Aging Characteristics of an RS-P/M Al-Zn-Mg- Zr-Mn-Cu Alloy (급속응고 분말법으로 제조한 Al-Zn-Mg-Zr-Mn-Cu합금의 시효특성)

  • In this study the changes of the hardness and microstructures during aging at 120$^{\cire}C$ of an RS-P/M Al-5.6wt%Zn-2.0wt%Mg-1.3wt%Zr-1.0wt%Mn-0.25wt%Cu alloy were studied using a transmission electron microscopy. The hardness increased rapidly at early stage of aging and reached the maximun when the specimen was aged for 24 hr. The many irregular-shaped $Al_4Mn$ and rod-shaped $Al_6Mn$ dispersoids with 0.1-0.4 $\mu$m in length were observed in the as-extruded alloy. The dark particles with 2-3 nm in size were observed in aged specimen for 5hr and those are thought to be G.P.zones or precursor of $\eta'$ precipitates. In aged specimen for 24 hr, the $\eta'$ phases were distributed homogeneously within the matrix and the PFZ with 30-40 nm in width was observed along the grain boundary. With further aging, the width of PFZ increased and $\eta$ phases were also detected within the matrix.

  • $TiO_2$ nanopowder has been synthesized by means of the flame method using a precursor of titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP, Ti$(OC_3H_7)_4)$. In order to clarify the effect of cooling rate of hot flame on the formation of $TiO_2$ crystalline phases, the flame was controlled by varying the mixing ratio and the flow rate of gases. Anatase phase was predominantly synthesized under the condition having the steep cooling gradient in flame, while a slow cooling gradient enabled to form almost rutile $TiO_2$ nanopowder of above 95%.

  • Porous silicon nitride ceramics were prepared by Self-propagating High Temperature Synthesis from silicon powder, silicon nitride powder and the pore-forming precursor. The microstructure, porosity and the flexural strength of the porous silicon nitride ceramics were varied according to the Si/$Si_3N_4$ ratio, size and amount of the pore-forming precursors. Some samples exhibited as high flexural strength as $162\pm24$ MPa. The high strength is considered to result from the fine pore size and the strong bonding among the silicon nitrid particles.

  • Langasite({{{{ { La}_{ 3} {Ga }_{5 } {SiO }_{14 } , LGS}}}}) powder was prepared by a polymerized complex method based on the Pechini-type reaction. A mixed solution of ethylene glycol(EG), cotric acid(CA), lanthanum, gallium and silicon ions, with a molar ratio of EG:CA:La:Ga:Si=100:25:3:5:1, was polymerzed to from a transparent resin, which was used as a precursor for the synthesis of LGS. X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns indicated that the LGS phase could be formed by the heat-treatment in air at 1000$^{\circ}C$ for 3hrs

  • Effect of catalysts, which was catalyzed by acid(HCl and HNO3) and base(NH4OH), on characteristics of the mullite powders prepared by sol-gel methdo wa sinvestigated by XRD, TGA, SEm AND BET. As a result, weight loss as a function of catalysts was in order of HCl=32.6%>HNO3=25.44%>Non=24.0%>NH4OH=22.5%. The mullite powder dried at 100$^{\circ}C$ appeared spherical shape in acid catalyst and different shape in base catalyst, but sintering powder at 1400$^{\circ}C$ appeared very fine particle of 0.05∼0.1$\mu\textrm{m}$ regardless of catalysts. In all cae, the pore quantity, which was capable to adsoprtion, was decreased with increasing temperature. In base catalyst, no change of special surface area in mullite appeared.
