Design of a new five-link haptic device considering its dynamics

  • The haptic system becomes an essential device in the area of tele-operation, video entertainment and medical operation. To control a haptic device, impedance control method is widely used, but force sensor costs so much that open-loop control method is usually preferred for commercial purpose. In this case, modeled/un-modeled dynamics affects the performance of device. In this paper, we present a new 3DOF five-link type haptic device that we can reduce the effect of device dynamics and compensate its dynamics. We also evaluate its performance.

  • This study aims to realize high precision repetitive positioning control of the linear servo motor. The authors have previously improved the repeatability positioning precision by employing a two-degree-of-freedom PID controller in the positioning control, rather than equal distance positioning, and investigates the repeatability positioning precision.

Trends of Low-Precision Processing for AI Processor (NPU 반도체를 위한 저정밀도 데이터 타입 개발 동향)

  • With increasing size of transformer-based neural networks, a light-weight algorithm and efficient AI accelerator has been developed to train these huge networks in practical design time. In this article, we present a survey of state-of-the-art research on the low-precision computational algorithms especially for floating-point formats and their hardware accelerator. We describe the trends by focusing on the work of two leading research groups-IBM and Seoul National University-which have deep knowledge in both AI algorithm and hardware architecture. For the low-precision algorithm, we summarize two efficient floating-point formats (hybrid FP8 and radix-4 FP4) with accuracy-preserving algorithms for training on the main research stream. Moreover, we describe the AI processor architecture supporting the low-bit mixed precision computing unit including the integer engine.

A Study on Processing of TFT Electrodes for Digital Signage Display using a Reverse Offset Printing (리버스옵셋 프린팅을 이용한 디지털 사이니지 디스플레이용 TFT 전극 형성 공정 연구)

  • The digital signage display is actively researched as the next generation of large FPD. To commercialize those digital signage display, the manufacturing cost must be downed with printing method instead of conventional photolithography. Here, we demonstrate a reverse offset printed TFT electrodes for the digital signage display. For the fabricated source/drain and gate electrode, we used Ag ink, silicone blanket, Clich$\acute{e}$ and reverse offset printer. We printed uniform TFT electrode patterns with narrow line width(10 ${\mu}m$ range) and thin thickness(nm range). In the end the printing source/drain and gate electrode are successfully achieved by optimization of experimental conditions such as Clich$\acute{e}$ surface treatment, ink coating process, delay time, off/set process and curing temperature. Also, we checked that the printing align accuracy was within 5 ${\mu}m$.

  • The world, coming into the 21st century, is preparing a new revolution called a knowledge-based society after the industrial society. The interest of the world is concentrated on information technology, nano-technology and biotechnology. In particular, the nano-technology of which study was originally started from an alternative for overcoming semiconductor micro-technology. It can be applied to most industry subject such as electronics, information and communication, machinery, chemistry, bioengineering, energy, etc. They are emerging into the technology that can change civilization of human beings. Specially, ultra precision machining is quickly applied to nano-technology in the field of machinery. Lately, with rapid development of electronics industry and optic industry, there are needs for super precision finishing of various core parts required in such related apparatuses. This paper handles stability of a super precision micro cutting machine that is a core unit of such a super precision finisher, and analyzes the results depending on the hinge type and material change, using FEM analysis. By reviewing the stability, it is possible to achieve the effect of basic data collection for unit control and to reduce trials and errors in unit design and manufacturing.
