유한요소법을 이용한 예압된 금형의 응력해석 (Stress Analysis of the Prestressed Dies by Using FEM)

  • By using the FEM, a method for the stress analysis of the presented dies has been proposed. In this method, FEM and Lame equation are used for the analysis of the die insert and the stress ring, respectively. The proposed method includes the calculation of the contact pressure between the die insert and the stress ring. To show the validity, the proposed method has been applied to the simple test problem. The results of the stress analysis have been compared with the results of ANSYS, a commercial FE-code. Cold extrusion has been simulated by using the rigid-plastic FEM and the results of the deformation analysis have been used as the input of the die structure analysis. The stress states of the prestressed extrusion die have been obtained. The stress analysis of the die insert with stress rings has also been performed during extrusion.

  • In this paper, the behavior of plastic zone in the notch tip was studied under Loye's Micro Vickers Hardness Measurement Method. The direction forming maximum plastic zone was estimated by finite element analysis. In the experiments, cold rolling sheet SGCD3, SK5 and hot rolling sheet SS41, S4SC was used to study the influence of carbon contents on plastic zone. The standard hardness test specimen and the notch hardness test specimen was made and loaded cyclically. The specimen was aged to stabilize the hardness. After aging treatment, the notch specimen was made and simple tension load of 50% yield strength was applied. The hardness test at the notch tip until the hardness data of standard hardness specimen was checked was performed.

  • Ultrasonic sensor for evaluating plastic anisotropy was developed. Magnetostrictive type EMAT is sensor to transmit and receive the Lamb wave using magnetostriction. It is suitable for on line processing because of transmitting and receiving ultrasonic without contact ODCs(orientation distribution coefficients), W $_{400}$. W $_{420}$. W $_{440}$. were respectively calculated using zeroth order Lamb wave velocities, the calculated ODCs was used for evaluating plastic anisotropy, the results was compared for mean values of destructive tests. Besides, the Lorentz EMAT for generating longitudinal wave and two shear waves simultaneously and the Lorentz type EMAT for measuring SH wave velocities were made. ODCs were calculated using the measured resonant modes and velocities. the results of two methods show possibility of an line processing measurement.

  • Laser welding of metals has been widely used to improve a wear resistance and a corrosion resistance of the industrial parts. The objective of this research works is to investigate the influence of the process parameters, such as the welding for metals with CW Nd:YAG lasers. The bead-on-plate welding tests are carried out for several combinations of the experimental conditions. In order to quantitatively examine the characteristics of the butt welding, the welding quality of the cut section, stain-stress behavior and the hardness of the welded part are investigated. From the results of the investigation, it has been shown that the optimal welding condition without defects in the vicinity of the welded area and with a good welding quality is 1325W of the laser power, and 1.4m/min of laser welding speed.

Die design system for deep drawing and ironing of high pressure gas cylinder

  • This paper describes a research work on the die design for the deep drawing & ironing(D. D. I) of high pressure gas cylinder. D. D. I die set is large-sized die used in horizontal press, which is usually composed of a drawing, and an ironing die. Design method of D. D. I die set is very different from that of conventional cold forging die set. Outer diameter of the die set is fixed because of press specification and that of the insert should be as small as possible for saving material cost. In this study, D. D. I die set has been designed to consider those characteristics, and the feasibility of the designed die has been verified by FE-analysis. In addition, the automated system of die design has been developed in AutoCAD R14 by formulating the applied methods to the regular rules.

KNN 분류기에 의한 강판 표면 결함의 분류 (Classification of Surface Defects on Steel Strip by KNN Classifier)

  • This paper proposes a new steel strip surface inspection system. The system acquires bright and dark field images of defects by using a stroboscopic IR LED light and area camera system and the defect images are preprocessed and segmented in real time for feature extraction. 4113 defect samples of cold roll steel strips are used to develop KNN (k-Nearest Neighbor) classifier which classifies the defects into 8 different types. The developed KNN classifier demonstrates about 85% classifying performance which is considered very plausible result.

축대칭 벌징형 하이드로포밍 공정에 대한 이론 및 실험적 연구 (Theoretical and Experimental Study of the Axisymmetric Fluid Pressure-Driven Hydroforming Process)

  • The study is concerned with the theoretical and experimental investigation of axisymmetric fluid pressure-driven hydroforming of sheet metal by forming over the die cavity. The rigid-plastic finite element method is employed to calculate the stress and strain distribution. The effect of blank size and die radius is also studied in the finite element analysis. Experiments are carried out for hydroforming of cold-rolled steel sheets under various process conditions. The computational results are compared with the experimental results for the forming pressure vs. pole displacement relations and strain distributions. Comparison has shown that theoretical predictions by the finite element method are in good agreement with the experiment with the experimental observations. Thus, it is shown that the rigid-plastic finite element method is effectively used in the analysis of axisymmetric fluid pressure-driven hydroforming process.

  • Surface roughness of cold rolled steel sheet as well as the coating technique itself is quite important in obtaining high image clarity of electronic products and car outer panels. Especially, surface characteristics of steel sheet have acquired increasing attention from the steel and automotive industries. While the influence of such characteristics on paintability formability and painted surface appearance is important in defining steel surface requirements for automotive industries. Therefore this paper is dedicated primarily to the issue of paint appearance and reviews for improvement of roughness and peak count about the surface of work roll for the actual temper mill. The conclusions were obtained as follows ; 1) Roughness and peak count about the surface of steel sheet is strongly affected by surface condition of work roll. 2) The electro-discharge textured roll has more uniform roughness distribution than shot blasted roll and it's painted appearance of steel sheet has more improvement than that of the shot blasted because it has more harmonic wave roughness, and the higher peak count of surface roughness.

박판의 풀림 사이클이 기계적 성질에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Annealing Cycle of the Steel Sheet in the Mechanical Properties)

  • Development on the mechanical properties of steel sheet for the automobile body panel is very important in the BAF(Batch annealing furnace) annealing process. Because of the heat treatment method in the BAF, mechanical properties were decided on the heat treatment method of the coil. So, we tested on the development of mechanical properties according to heat treatment method at the annealing furnace using the In atmospheric gas($H_2$ : 75%, $N_2$ : 25%) and the HNx atmospheric gas($H_2$ : 5%, $N_2$ : 95%) We confirmed the following characteristics, mechanical properties were changed under the influence of the annealing cycle and the atmospheric gas. And, we have some result according to heat treatment method. Elongation of the mechanical properties in the HNx BAF is higher than the Ax BAF. But tensile strength and hardness is higher than the HNx BAF.

  • 1) 1/2 Scale Model 실험과 실제품 성형실험을 통하여 정밀 냉간단조에 의한 Tripod Slide Housing의 제조공정 설계기술을 확립하고, 4단계 성형공정으로 시제품 제작에 성공하였다. 2) Triod Slide Housing을 성형할 수 있는 4단계(전방압출, Heading, 후방압출, Ironing)의 금형을 설계 및 제작하여 시제품 생산에 적용하고, 관련 필요기술을 축적하였다. 3)XC 48 등 중,고탄소강의 소둔 실험을 통하여 소둔 조건에 따른 구상화율 및 경도의 변화에 대한 연구를 수행함으로써, 고탄소강의 냉간단조시에 필요한 최적 소둔 조건에 응용할 수 있는 자료를 축적하였다.
