  • The purpose of this study is to suggest fundamental data for design and planning of university dormitory through the survey of facility condition and resident's satisfaction. The scope of this research is limited to the period from late 1980's to early 2000's. The University Dormitories in Jeollanam-do and Jeollabuk-do are selected as subject. The result of this study is as follow. 1) Even though dormitory's total area is increased than the past, user's satisfaction is still in low level. It's necessary for user to fit a space to life pattern and the difference of human. 2) As a result of comparing of the sexual difference, most men are more active than women in using facility and practice 3) Not only a part of facility but also a part of operation is important element in satisfaction.

  • In practice, there may be various defects in an insulating system, so that the PD signals can be produces from these defect simultaneously. Regarding these situations, we have to discriminate the type of defect as well as to determine whether the PD occurs or not. In our research. some analysis results of the PD signals from multi-defects insulating system will be presented. We measure the PD signals using three kind of electrode system: IEC(b). Needle-Plane and mixed electrodes. To simulate multi-defect systems, we combine two electrode systems and apply test voltage simultaneously. Neural network, statistical analysis methods will be tested, and the possibilities and limitations of each method will be clarified.

  • Anterior crossbite is a common malocclusion in the early deciduous dentition. Even today, many these malocclusion patients are not treated until the mixed or permanent dentition. And the purpose here is to emphasize the need for early diagnosis and possible treatment for these anterior crossbite malocclusions and their associated facial patterns. Case histories of 4 patients selected from the author's practice are presented. Different methods of treatment are evaluated. Some improvement was achieved in all patients from an early interceptive regimen, although ultimately corrective orthodontic treatment may still be needed in some. It is concluded that early interception of deciduous anterior crossbite malocclusion should by attempted in patients ; there should be no delemma in reaching such a decision. And it is essential for diagnosis and treatment to determine exact variations in growth when some appliance are used, it is recommended that growth-related records be made as early as possible.

  • Purpose: This study was to explore health experiences of the low-income elderly living alone reflected in Newman's Health as expanding consciousness theory. Method: The researcher used Newman's praxis methodology because it is good for showing the process of interaction between the researcher and the low-income elderly living alone. Results: The significant characteristics of early health experience during a participant's lifetime were demonstrated that blamed themselves, being burden of themselves hopeless of their lives. However, after a turning point in health experience. The health experience of most of the participants evolved as expanding consciousness. Conclusion: This study has provided support for Newman's theory of health. Most of the participants recognized meanings in their patterns and authentic caring relationships with the nurse as researcher, pattern recognition as a nursing practice was a meaningful transforming process in the participant-nurse partnership. This participatory approach expands the scope of sharing health experience with the elderly living alone and with caring community people.

  • scale genomic and postgenomic data means that many of the challenges in biomedical research are now challenges in computational sciences and information technology. The informatics revolutions both in clinical informatics and bioinformatics will change the current paradigm of biomedical sciences and practice of clinical medicine, including diagnostics, therapeutics, and prognostics. Postgenome informatics, powered by high throughput technologies and genomic-scale databases, is likely to transform our biomedical understanding forever much the same way that biochemistry did a generation ago. In this talk, 1 will describe how these technologies will in pact biomedical research and clinical care, emphasizing recent advances in biochip-based functional genomics. Basic data preprocessing with normalization and filtering, primary pattern analysis, and machine teaming algorithms will be presented. Issues of integrated biochip informatics technologies including multivariate data projection, gene-metabolic pathway mapping, automated biomolecular annotation, text mining of factual and literature databases, and integrated management of biomolecular databases will be discussed. Each step will be given with real examples from ongoing research activities in the context of clinical relevance. Issues of linking molecular genotype and clinical phenotype information will be discussed.

  • The influence of peer collaboration on children's analogical abilities was studied with 120 9-year-old participants. After the pre-test, which determined the analogical level of the children, each child was assigned to 1 of 4 different learning conditions: cued/non-cued peer collaborative learning, or cued/non-cued individual learning conditions. The post-test showed changes in their analogical abilities. That is, results showed that cued peer collaborative learned improved the analogical abilities of the children, but the pattern of improvement was different by prior level of analogical abilities. We explained improvement in analogical ability by the context effect of peer collaborative learning and by the interactive effect of context with basic cognitive abilities of the children. We suggested implications of the present results for educational practice.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the initial reaction of craniofacial complex to the traction of headgears which are frequent used in dinical practice by using holographic interference method. Changes in the fringe pattern according to the traction conditions (outer bow length, load amount, direction) were compared. Human dry skull was used as experimental material, the results were as follows. 1. The density of fringes increased with an increase in load. 2. Maxillary headgear affected circummaxillary bones-temporal bone, zygomatic bone, nasal bone, frontal bone, sphenoid bone as well as maxilla. 3. The most upward-backward displacement was observed in a high pull head gear $(30^{\circ})$, this is though to be a optimal direction for supressing the growth of the maxilla.

  • Du-Dou was one of the Chinese costumes worn mostly by women and children. It is the equivalence of modern brassieres or under wear. While small in size, du-dous were popularly worn by many ethnic groups and in many regions in China. The embroidery on du-dous has attracted major attention recently, due to its functional and artistic aspects. The design, floral pattern, stitching technique, and color combination and distribution clearly demonstrate the practice of Chinese folk art and reflect the essence of Chinese life style. Among the three major ethic groups of Taiwan-the Fukiens, Hakkas, and Taiwan aboriginals, each group has its distinctive du-dou. The purpose of this study is to investigate and compare the similarities and differences of the embroidery on du-dou among the three ethnic groups in Taiwan, and furthermore, to make recommendations for the modern du-dous in the fashion industry.

  • The flow characteristics passing a multi-point Pitot tube flow-meter of diamond shape and the characteristics of flow coefficients of the flow-meter are experimentally studied by varying combination of upstream rectangular dual elbows. The results provide the flow coefficients, which show good stability and reliability within the Reynolds number range coveted here in this study, and which can be used to measure flow-rates in practice. The variation of dual elbows upstream can change the velocity field so much that the flow pattern might thwart the precise flow measurement using the multi-point Pitot tube. The strongest swirl is detected in the case of $90^{\circ}$ dual elbow combination of all. In addition, it is observed that flow separation remains unchanged and occurs at the same point irrespective of various upstream dual elbow combinations.

  • This paper is intended to suggest how to improve Korean high school students' awareness of the pronunciation in order to foster communicative effectiveness. Initially it is focused on the tasks of listening to the suprasegmental aspects. The strategies used in the listening process are (1)discerning intonation units, (2)recognizing rhythm pattern, and (3)identifying contraction and linking in connected speech. The tasks including in each process are listening discrimination, guided practice activity, and listening and speaking activity. The teacher should avoid methods which yield discouraging outcomes and try to help students enjoy experience of success in doing exercises and activities. So I suggested: students put the slash on the pause perceptible to chunk the stream of speech into the intonation units, and mark the content words to internalize English rhythm. And then I suggested that students listen to pop song English in order to improve the awareness of function words and connected speech in the intonation unit.
