  • We have consider the study of local influence for smoothing parameter estimates in spline regression model with heteroscedasticity. Practically, generalized cross-validation does not work well in the presence of heteroscedasticity. Thus we have proposed the local influence measure for generalized cross-validation estimates when errors are heteroscedastic. And we have examined effects of diagnostic by above measures through Hyperinflation data.

  • This paper develops a general methodology for evaluating inspection (mainly, safety inspection) policies, standard and regulations in a complex system with lots of components. Based on practically available data, this methodology enable planners and regulators to estimate the costs and effectiveness of different inspection policies when applied under different system working conditions. As main tools, the concepts of detection probability and earliness of detection are developed in this paper.

  • A pulse generator of one stage magnetic pulse compression modulator was simulated by electromagnetic transients program (EMTP). The pulse generator was expected to generate ${\sim}80kV$ peak voltage, ${\sim}140ns$ pulse width and about $70{\sim}75%$ energy delivery efficiency from initial charge capacitor $(0.2{\mu}F)$ to dummy load $(25{\Omega})$. From this simulation, the scheme of pulse circuit could be estimated as a practically reasonable design.

  • We present the discrete event systems modeled by finite state machines in this paper using the boolean matrices and vectors. We propose a supervisor synthesis method for such boolean discrete-event systems. The proposed supervisor synthesis algorithm is practically implementable, since the size of the state vector in the product system does not increase exponentially with the number of components.

  • Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are hydrophobic and most are practically insoluble in water contributing to their persistence in the environment. In addition, most exist in strongly adsorbed forms when they are introduced into the soils. Their removal efficiency can be limited in low mass transfer phases, such as PAHs-contaminated soils, because most chemical and biological remediation technologies require transfer from NAPs (Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids) into the mobile phase.   • The speckle photography technique is one of the novelest velocity measurement methods. This study examines the possibility that this technique will become practically applicable. In this study, LSP is applied to the fine water mist spray. Moreover, a He-Ne gas laser is employed as the light source in order to enhance the validity of this technique. It becomes clear that this technique using a He-Ne gas laser can obtain a whole instantaneous two-dimensional velocity distribution and also apply to test the performance of fine water spray.

  • The accelerated failure time model or accelerated life model relates the logarithm of the failure time linearly to the covariates. The parameters in the model provides a direct interpretation. In this paper, we review some newly developed practically useful estimation and inference methods for the model in the analysis of right censored data.

  • In current coordinate measuring machine practice, there are no commonly accepted sample sizes for estimating form errors which have a statistical confidence. Practically, sample size planning is important for the geometrical tolerance inspection using a coordinate measuring machine. We determine and validate appropriate sample sizes for form error estimation. Also, we develop form error estimation methods with certain confidence levels based on the obtained sample sizes in various form errors: straightness, flatness, circularity, and cylindericity.

  • In this paper, Firstly, it is shown that the bending mode vibration source of vertical pump system is comparatively large because resonance. Secondly in order to the bending mode vibration of vertical pump some practical dynamic absorber have been developed and its effectiveness is investigated as installing it at the vertical pump system practically.
