  • This study analyzes the effects of individual Competence on job-seeking activities and employment. For the sake of empirical study, we have used microdata public data provided by the National Statistics Office of Korea, which is composed of 731,852 people. Empirical results were obtained by applying structured equation model with using job-seeking activities as a mediating variable. Results showed that those three variables such as age, level of education, and specialty had a significant effect on job-seeking activities and employment. Especially, we found practical implication that regardless of gender, it becomes likelier that individuals can find jobs when their job-seeking periods are shorter. Also, level of education has positive effects to employment. The limitation is that these results are not associated to data which has the quality of employment and that they do not reflect the uniqueness of 2018. In this sense, job-seeking support education programs by local governments need to be designed out of this implication.

  • This paper presents design and VLSI implementations of a reassembly processor for ATM/AAL. The assembly processor is responsible for processing ATM cells from the receive physical interface. It controls the transfer of the AAL payload to host memory and performs all necessary SAR and CPCS checks. We propose the improved structure of cell identification algorithm and smart scatter method for host memory management. The proposed cell identification algorithm quickly locates the appropriate reassembly VC table based on the received VPI./VCI channel value in the ATM header. The cell identification algorithm also allow complete freedom in assignment of VCI/VPI values. The reassembly processor uses a smart scatter method to write cell payload data to host memory. It maintains the scatter operation and controls the incoming DMA block during scatter DMA to host memory. The proposed reassembly processor can perform reassembly checks on AAL. OAM cell. For an AAL5 connection, only CPCS checks, including the CRC32, are performed. In this paper, we proposed a practical reassembly architecture. The design of reassembly processor has become feasible using 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS gate array technology.

  • High-quality multimedia on the Internet has attracted attention because of its wide application area. IP multicast has been proposed as a solution to use efficient network resources in these services. However, IP multicast has not been commonly used due to a number of practical issues such as security and management. As an alternative, an overlay multicast routing which is performed in upper protocol layers on legacy networks without changing hardware has been presented. Yet, the maximum data transmission capacity of the overlay multicast is not sufficient for real time transmission of multimedia data. In this paper, we have implemented an overlay multicast engine on NetFPGA which allows us to perform packet replication and tunneling which need high-speed. In addition, we have implemented extra portions which need low-speed in software. From now on, we will progress research which increase the number of terminal spots which can be replicated by improvement and amplify throughputs by optimization.

  • Environmental impacts of suspended solids (SS) released in coastal area by dredging, reclamation and construction can cause serious damages to coastal habitats and benthic organisms. Acute toxicity tests (4-7 days) were conducted to identify the relationship between SS concentration and mortality of three marine benthic species; benthic copepod (Tigriopus japonicus) adult, Pacific abalone (Haliotis discus hannai) spat, and olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) fry. Benthic copepod was the most sensitive to SS followed by olive flounder fry and Pacific abalone spat, with an $LC_{50}$ (lethal concentration of 50% mortality) value of 61.0 mg/L and LOEC (lowest observed effective concentration) value of 31.3 mg/L for benthic copepod. LOEC and 7 day-$LC_{50}$ for Pacific abalone spat were 500.0 mg/L and 1887.7 mg/L, and those for olive flounder fry were 125.0 mg/L and 156.9 mg/L, respectively. The tolerance limits of the test species to SS revealed the various concentration ranges of SS, which reflects the physiology and ecology of the test species. These results are very valuable for the determination of SS concentration of effluents released into the coastal area by dredging, reclamation and construction etc. Also, sharp increase of SS can cause long-term damages to the benthic and sessile fauna by blanketing of benthic substratum. These experimental procedures for marine bioassay and acute toxicity results can be a useful guideline for practical management planning of SS discharge into coastal area.
