Measurement of Indoor Power Line Channel Characteristics Considering Capacitive Loads (용량성 부하를 고려한 옥내 전력선 채널 특성 측정)

  • Considerable efforts has been recently devoted to the determination of accurate channel models for the power line environment, both for the indoor and outdoor cases. The common limitation of the known and previously published models is the particular type of approach followed. This paper is concerned with a power line channel characteristic measurement for the more fast and efficiently power line communication experiment. The need arises from the fact that indoor power cables consist of conductors and inductors. A capacitive load simulator is a essential equipment in the power line modem development for indoor power line network. We accomplished a channel data base by the frequency response method about the total 224 capacitor load cases. On the basis of this measurement modeling it is here revealed that the power line communication channel is a more deterministic media.

  • The maximum demand power management system(the demand controller) is an equipment for demand management. If the pre-estimated load is over the preset power, the demand controller make warnings and break the load circuit according to predefined priority. Then consumption power is maintained below the maximum demand power level. The DTU receives the control commands from demand controller, and then controls loads. In this paper, the power line cables are used for communication between the demand controller and DTUs and monitoring PC. The experiments show that the proposed system is compatible with the conventional system, and feasible for new or remodeling plant.

  • In the paper we study for the ubiquitous networking based on power line communication technology with digital signal transmission. The necessity of research for using resources in the network effectively is being increase as network to use the PLC with smart grid networking. The data rate has compared with implemented modem 250Mbps in the pixel resolution and bandwidth, which has degraded with 80%. We also proposed for design of high-definition digital signal transceiver, which has used in the network between digital multimedia with PLC. Using resources in the network effectively can be also verified with this research.

  • In this paper, a heterogeneous home network is designed and implemented based on the PLC (power line communications) and the IEEE 802.15.4. This paper presents the need of the heterogeneous home network and the convergence sub-layer. The convergence sub-layer is designed and implemented on the Xelline power line communication modem with IEEE 802.15.4 communication module.

  • In this paper, we used class D amplification circuit to improve the decline of error rate caused by low impedance in the Power Line Communication. We manufactured voltage drive circuit and current drive circuit that are driven circuit of power line modem on the present and made a comparison experiment with drivel circuit that uses class D amplifier proposed in this paper. As a result of Experiment, We showed that it has great superiority over other existing drive circuits at rapid impedance change in power line channel.

  • This paper presents a systematic method of probing channel characteristics and communication reliabilities of home PLC (power line communication) network applied to the Internet accessed control of home appliances. The effects of the three performance deterioating factors, i.e., additive noise, channel attenuation, and intersymbol interference, can be systematically measured by applying the channel probing waveform in the frequency range from 100kHz to 450kHz. The agreement between the derived probability of bit error and the measured probability of bit error supports the validity of the proposed approach of probing home power line channel characteristics. The experimental results performed with the constructed test-bed applying the proposed channel probing method also support the feasibility of commercially deploying the PLC modem installed home appliances and their services for the Internet accessed home automation.

  • Servo drives with microcomputer control provide the possibility of using modem and sophisticated control algorithms. As an additional feature it is possible to implement parallel and/or redundant software and hardware structures to realise safe motion or similar security functions. Unfortunately microcomputer control also has some impact on the behaviour of servo drives. Control algorithm, cycle time, sensors and interface have to be perfectly synchronised. Special control schemes are necessary on the line side (power supply) to meet the actual requirements concerning EMC. This contribution presents experiences and results obtained from a modem digital drive system pointing out the influences of low and high accuracy position sensors and the interdependencies mentioned above.

  • We have studied design and application about an self generation equipment for underground power transmission cable. The split CT(Current Transformer), which has the applicable underground power transmission cable, was manufactured through electromagnetic simulation of magnetic core. And manufactured the AC-DC converter that supplied stable DC power for PLC modem when current of power line has more than 150A. An self generation equipment using the CT and AC-DC converter get into operation the PLC modem consistently. As a result, the underground power transmission cable was showed the application possibility through the stable communication and network characteristics.

  • The layout of electrical power distribution networks never involved communications aspects. As a result their transmission properties severly complicate the use as data links. Futhermore bandwidth as well as transmission power is restricted. Nevertheless, power distribution net works represent a most attractive medium for digital communication purposes due to an ever increasing demand, e.g., for environment management of buildings, office automation, and remote meter reading or security monitoring. In this paper, a power line modem which is capable of transmitting and receiving data at 1200 bps using OOK-BASK through 220V AC power lines is implemented. The receiver includes noncoherent detector and performs soft decision. The OLM circuits can be simplified by use of microprocessor. The PLM also satisfies CENELEC, European standards, and can be applied to home automation system.

  • Recently, there a lot of activities on the researches that implement many kinds of control system using power lines. To implement that, it is desirable to use hybrid PSK model because it takes advantage of PSK and DPSK which has a low-bit-error rate. In this parer, we implement the transmitter of this model. Because the power line is not designed for the data communication, we separated the signal generator circuit and the signal loading circuit so that minimized noises from outside. Also, to make it easy on the experiments, most of process are performed by software. As a result, transmitting a high frequency signal on the power line made no effects on the electrical devices.
