Recently, 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has developed sidehaul system to cope with the explosively increasing mobile data traffic. The sidehaul system is based on single carrier-frequency division multiple access (SC-FMDA) due to its low peak to average power ratio (PAPR). Also, antenna array is designed to support multiple input multiple output (MIMO) in a restricted space. In this paper, we design the antenna array about uniform linear array (ULA), uniform circular array (UCA) and uniform planar array (UPA), and analysis the performance in sidehaul system. In addition, we propose the novel hybrid receiver full suppression cancellation (FSC) to reduce the interference from neighbor cell in sidehaul system. The proposed receiver can suppress and cancel the interference by combining interference rejection combining (IRC) with successive interference cancellation (SIC).

The SC-FDMA(single carrier-frequency division multiple access) was recently adopted as the uplink multiple access scheme from 3GPP LTE(3rd Generation Partnership Project Long Tenn Evolution) due to its low PAPR (Peak-to-averaged power ratio). The bandwidth of IFDMA(interleaved FDMA), one of the sub-carrier mapping methods of SC-FDMA, gets narrower as the roll-off factor of RRC(root raised cosine) filter decreases from 1 to 0, whereas its PAPR can increase significantly. In practice, to increase the power efficiency of an amplifier, signals with high PAPR undergo the process of clipping. Clipping of signals may cause regeneration of high-frequency components as well as distortion of signals. The current paper deals with the effect of clipping on the spectrum and BER of IFDMA signals with RRC filters.

Intelligent Robot is considered as one of the Next Generation Growth Engine in many countries. The application fields are expected to be widen from 80's robotics for manufacturing to many applications such as military, space, medical, personal, etc. To reduce the R&D investment risk Technical Roadmap is prepared by Japan, Europe and Korea. In this paper, the technical Roadmap of the countries was analysed to get the idea of future of Robotics. Robotics is considered as one of solutions of future aged society. Robot can assist and company with elderly people in the near future. On the other hand, Robot is considered as a core technology of manufacturing competitive power. Industrial competitiveness also would be dependent on robot technology. Special Service robot has many application areas and each country has different target based on the situation. With the comparison of technical roadmap, we have suggested some ideas to improve Korea's roadmap.
Situation awareness is defined as a person's perception of the elements of the environment within a volume of time and space, the comprehension of their meaning and the projection of their status in the near future. Situation awareness is important in attempting to evaluate human behavior in operating complex systems such as aircraft, air traffic control, and nuclear power plant systems. From the literatures this study reviews the relationship between situation awareness and numerous individual, system and environmental factors, and also reviews the methodologies for the empirical measurement of situation awareness applicable to Korea Next Generation Reactor (KNGR) design project. Attention, working memory, workload, stress, system complexity, and automation are presented as critical factors limiting operator's situation awareness. Mental models and goal-directed behavior are hypothesized as important mechanisms overcoming these limits. This study summarized hypothesized guidelines for interface design to improve situation awareness of reactor operators. Some of the guidelines should be tested in the KNGR evaluation experiments in the future.
As power systems grow more complex and power demands increase, the need of underground transmission system is increasing gradually. But it is very difficult and high in cost to construct new ducts and/or tunnels for power cables in metropolitan areas. HTS (High Temperature Superconducting) cable can carry very high current densities with strongly reduced conductor loss and allow high power transmission at reduced voltage. Therefore HTS cable can transfer more power to be moved in existing ducts, which means very large economical and environmental benefits. A development project for a 22kV class HTS cable is ongoing at a research centers, and the cable manufacturer in Korea. In this paper, we carried out investigation for application of 22kV class HTS cable in Korean utility networks. The results show that the HTS cable is applicable to replace IPB in pumping-up power plant, withdrawal line in distributed generation, withdrawal line in complex power plant, and conventional under ground cable. Finally, as the cost of HTS wire and refrigeration drops, the technical and economical potential of HTS cable is evaluated positively.

Recently, interest in the DC transmission is rapidly increasing worldwide. In many countries and leading companies are prior to the aggressive development of HVDC technology and application. Especially, VSC-HVDC system has been widely applied to transfer power at long distance between power plant and power consumption area. Therefore in this paper, we analyzed the benefit-cost of VSC-HVDC system which has more advantages than existing transmission system. The proposed system is MMC(Modular Multilevel Converter) VSC-HVDC system that have stability of Power Grid, interconnect Large-scale New Power Generation Plants by prevents Blackout. And MMC VSC-HVDC system Reduced the loss importing foreign systems. And the benefits were calculated in four stages, and the costs were applied to the actual project. By evaluating the various avoidance costs compared to the benefit-cost, it was confirmed that MMC VSC-HVDC system was advantageous in system stability and economic and social benefits.

Recently, as much supplied with new-renewable energy, as much invested in PV system. PV system consists of PV module, PCS and Monitering system, and also could be classified into the type and the capacity by installation method and cost etc. When various systems are installed in the field, it is needed to research for applying in the field and establish infrastructure in order to ensure stable efficiency and reliability. In this study, as the basic design of the demonstration test facility, it is designed the basic PV systems for each capacity to test each PCS. In addition, It is drew the climatic conditions such as insolation, temperature and the design parameters such as installation angle, shades for the local demonstration project and expected the generation of each PV system.
Korea Water Resources Corporation (KOWACO) operates nine hydroelectric power stations on the Han River, Nakdong River, Geum River & Seomjin River Areas. KOWACO will take the lead in improving the efficiency of water resources supply in this parer, KOWACO Generation Intergrated Operating System(GIOS) project will improve the generating plant, hydraulic structures, switchgear, and station controls, alarms and services for unmanned remote controlled operation by modern intergraed SCADA system. Mordern SCADA is used to cover all computer systems designed to perform the following main functions: - to collect data from industrial plant devices. - to process and perform calculations on the collected. - to present collected and derived data on displays on. - to accept commands entered by human operators and act on them such as sending control commands to plant devices.
We compare the achievable throughput of time division multiple access (TDMA) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) schemes illustrated in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) MIMO technical report, versus the sum-rate capacity of space-time multiple access (STMA). These schemes have been proposed to improve the 3GPP high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) channel by employing multiple antennas at both the base station and mobile stations. Our comparisons are performed in multi-user environments and are conducted using TDMA such as Qualcomm's High Data Rate and HSDPA, which is a simpler technique than STMA. Furthermore, we present the unified optimal power allocation strategy for HSDPA MIMO schemes by exploiting the similarity of multiple antenna systems and multi-user channel problems.
Although construction of any new nuclear power projects had not been launched since mid-1970s until recently in the USA, many new nuclear power plants have been constructed in many countries with the support of their governments mainly as part of their national energy security and electric source diversification policies. For many reasons, the nuclear power industry seemed to reclaim their renaissance from the beginning of this century and the investment in the nuclear power projects draw positive concern from the private financial sector. But the global financial crisis in 2008 and subsequent economic slow-down together with tighter bank credit regulations caused commercial banks, the main source of financing, to lose appetite for investing in new nuclear power projects. But the nuclear power economics shows that the nuclear power is viable in terms of the environmental benefit and long-term average cost compared to other power generation sources. Also doubt about nuclear power safety was much mitigated due to technology development and reinforced safety-related tests and monitoring. Therefore, the prospect for nuclear power market expansion remains positive although there are comparatively big differences among different scenarios. After Korea Electric Power Corp. won the UAE nuclear power project in December of 2009, the competition in nuclear power markets is undergoing huge changes. Competitors backed by the support of their own governments are now entering the market with many aggressive and innovative financing packages to win bids of new nuclear power projects. This report analyzed the nuclear power market prospects, competitive edges of nuclear power, risk management measures, and financing challenges and recommends alternative solutions to promote competitive edges in winning bids of new nuclear power projects.
