A multi-level optimal power flow(OPF) algorithm has been evolved from a simple two stage optimal Power flow algorithm for constrained power economic dispatch control. In the proposed algorithm, we consider various constraints such as ower balance, generation capacity, transmission line capacity, transmission losses, security equality, and security inequality constraints. The proposed algorithm consists of four stages. At the first stage, we solve the aggregated problem that is the crude classical economic dispatch problem without considering transmission losses. An initial solution is obtained by the aggregation concept in which the solution satisfies the power balance equations and generation capacity constraints. Then, after load flow analysis, the transmission losses of an initial generation setting are matched by the slack bus generator that produces power with the cheapest cost. At the second stage we consider transmission losses. Formulation of the second stage becomes classical economic dispatch problem involving the transmission losses, which are distributed to all generators. Once a feasible solution is obtained from the second stage, transmission capacity and other violations are checked and corrected locally and quickly at the third stage. The fourth stage fine tunes the solution of the third stage to reach a real minimum. The proposed approach speeds up the two stage optimization method to an average gain of 2.99 for IEEE 30, 57, and 118 bus systems and EPRI Scenario systems A through D testings.
This paper describes the optimization problem of real power rescheduling and present an algorithm based linear programming for studying the load-shedding and generation reallocation problem when a portion of the transmission system is disabled and at power flow solution cannot be obtained for the overload of some lines. And in case initial is infeasible, solution could not be converge. So this paper gives an algorithm being lie infeasible quantities within limit. The paper describes a LP-based algorithm to obtain the solution in power dispatch related to overload situations in power system and it is easily extened under various objective. The optimization procedures is based in linear programming with bounded variables and use the multi-segment curve method for a objective function and the validity of the algorithm is verified with two examples : 10-bus system and 57-bus system.

People have been using more energy in the last years. Several research studies were conducted to develop sustainable energy sources that can produce clean energy to fulfill our energy requirements. Using renewable energy sources helps to decrease the harm to the environment caused by conventional power plants. Choosing the right location and capacity for DG-RESs can greatly impact the performance of Radial Distribution Systems. It is beneficial to have a good and stable electrical power supply with low energy waste and high effectiveness because it improves the performance and reliability of the system. This research investigates the ideal location and size for solar and wind power systems, which are popular methods for producing clean electricity. A new artificial intelligent algorithm called Nutcracker Optimization Algorithm (NOA) is used to find the best solution in two common electrical systems named IEEE 33 and 69 bus systems to examine the improvement in the efficiency & reliability of power system network by reducing power losses, making voltage deviation smaller, and improving voltage stability. Finally, the NOA method is compared with another method called PSO and developed Hybrid Algorithm (NOA+PSO) to validate the proposed algorithm effectiveness and enhancement of both efficiency and reliability aspects.
다음으로 각 모델에 대해 상용 PIDO(Process Integration and Design Optimization)툴인 PIAnO(Process Integration, Automation and Optimization)을 사용하여 최적설계를 수행하였다.

The increased diversity of different types of energy sources requires moving towards smart distribution networks. This paper proposes a probabilistic DG (distributed generation) units planning model to determine technology type, capacity and location of DG units while simultaneously allocating ESS (energy storage systems) based on pre-determined capacities. This problem is studied in a wind integrated power system considering loads, prices and wind power generation uncertainties. A suitable method for DG unit planning will reduce costs and improve reliability concerns. Objective function is a cost function that minimizes DG investment and operational cost, purchased energy costs from upstream networks, the defined cost to reliability index, energy losses and the investment and degradation costs of ESS. Electrical load is a time variable and the model simulates a typical radial network successfully. The proposed model was solved using the DICOPT solver under GAMS optimization software.
According to the Renewable Energy 3020 Implementation Plan announced in 2017 by the South Korean government, the electricity share of renewable energy will be expanded to 20% of the total electricity generation by 2030. Given the intermittency of electricity generation from renewable energy, realization of such a plan presents challenges to managing South Korea's isolated national electric grid and implies potentially large excess electricity generation in certain situations. The purpose of this study is: 1) to develop a model to accurately simulate the effects of excess electricity generation from renewables which would arise during the transition, and 2) to propose strategies to manage excess electricity generation through effective utilization of domestic electricity generating capabilities. Our results show that in periods of greater PV and wind power, namely the spring and fall seasons, the frequency of excess electricity generation increases, while electricity demand decreases. This being the case, flexible operation of coal and nuclear power plants along with LNG and pumped-storage hydroelectricity can be used to counterbalance the excess electricity generation from renewables. In addition, nuclear energy plays an important role in reducing CO2 emissions and electricity costs unlike the fossil fuel-based generation sources outlined in the 8th Basic Plan.
An objected-oriented programming(OOP) technique is introduced to dispatch schedules for TWBP. Some dispatch schedules such as constrained (pre)dispatch, unconstrained (pre)dispatch, and nominal self-dispatch schedule need to be peformed to make power market work. These dispatch schedules are similar but have some differences in required constraints, needed data, and scheduling time. Therefore, it makes the scheduling program simple to introduce the OOP technique to this problem: to have each instance of the OOP perform its own dispatch scheduling. The developed program adopts linear programming(LP) as an optimization tool and could consider some crucial constraints such as power balance, generation power limits, generation ramp-rates, power limitations of transmission lines, and power system security.
In this thesis, output voltage, current and power of solar module were classified by irradiation and module temperature from data of overall operating characteristics collected for one year in order to manage efficient photovoltaic generation system and deliver maximum power. In addition, from these data, correlations between irradiation, module temperature of photovoltaic cell and amount of power given by photovoltaic cell was quantitatively examined to deduce optimization of the design and construction of photovoltaic generation system. The results of this thesis can be summarized as follows. As I-Y characteristics according to a temperature range of 10$\sim$50[], the area of I-V characteristics were increased with an increase in temperature. Since this area corresponds to the power, output power is thought to have increased with temperature.
This paper presents an innovative design for a low-speed, direct-drive, axial-flux permanent-magnet (AFPM) generator with a coreless stator and rotor that is intended for application to small wind turbine power generation systems. The performance of the generator is evaluated and optimized by means of comprehensive 3D electromagnetic finite element analysis. The main focus of this study is to improve the power output and efficiency of wind power generation by investigating the electromagnetic and structural features of a coreless AFPM generator. The design is validated by comparing the performance achieved with a prototype. The results of our comparison demonstrate that the proposed generator has a number of advantages such as a simpler structure, higher efficiency over a wide range of operating speeds, higher energy yield, lighter weight and better power utilization than conventional machines. It would be possible to manufacture low-cost, axial-flux permanent-magnet generators by further developing the proposed design.
This paper presents a scheme to solve the congestion problem with phase-shifting transformer(PST) controls and power generation controls using linear programming method. A good design of PST and power generation control can improve total transfer capability(TTC) in interconnected systems. This paper deals with an application of optimization technique for TTC calculation. Linear programming method is used to maximize power flow of tie line subject to security constraints such as voltage magnitude and real power flow in interconnected systems. The results are compared with that of repeat power flow(RPF) and sequential quadratic programming(SQP). The proposed method is applied to 10 machines 39 buses model systems to show its effectiveness.
