In power system, economic dispatch problem is to minimize fuel cost with inequality constraints of generator output. To solve this problem it is very important to express power loss equation that have Quadratic function of generator power included B-coefficient. This paper presents a method in determining B-coefficient by use A-matrix that is calculated by power flow considering voltage dependent static load model. The proposed algorithm is tested with IEEE 6 bus sample system, which shows the result in each cases by the change of load component factor.

In this paper we propose a new feature, average power, for speech segments extraction with hidden Markov models, which is based on mel frequencies of speech signals. The average power is compared with the mel frequency cepstral coefficients, MFCC, and the power coefficient. To compare performances of three types of features, speech data are collected for words with explosives which are generally known hard to be detected. Experiments show that the average power is more accurate and efficient than MFCC and the power coefficient for speech segments extraction in environments with various levels of noise.

Short term load forecasting for electric power demand is essential for stable power system operation and efficient power market operation. High accuracy of the short term load forecasting can keep the power system more stable and save the power market operation cost. We propose an optimal coefficient selection method for exponential smoothing model in short term load forecasting on weekdays. In order to find the optimal coefficient of exponential smoothing model, load forecasting errors are minimized for actual electric load demand data of last three years. The proposed method are verified by case studies for last three years from 2009 to 2011. The results of case studies show that the average percentage errors of the proposed load forecasting method are improved comparing with errors of the previous methods.
The coolant temperature feedback coefficient is an important parameter of reactor core power control system. To study the coolant temperature feedback coefficient influence on the core power control system of small PWR, the core power control system is built with the nonlinear model and fuzzy control theory. Then, the uncertainty quantification method of reactor core parameters is established based on the Latin hypercube sampling method and the Bootstrap method. Finally, under the conditions of reactivity step perturbation and coolant inlet temperature step perturbation, uncertainty analysis for two cases is carried out. The result shows that with fuzzy controller and fuzzy PID controller, the uncertainty of the coolant temperature feedback coefficient affects the core power control system, and the maximum uncertainties of core relative power, coolant temperature deviation, fuel temperature deviation and total reactivity are acceptable.
The low leakage leading pattern has features as the placement of some fresh fuel assemblies in the core interior to reduce the neutron fluence on the pressure vessel and to enhance the neutron economics. But as fresh fuel assemblies are loaded in the core interior, the local power tends to exceed safety limit due to the high reactivity of the fresh assemblies. Therefore, a large number of burnable poisons must be utilized in a low leakage scheme to suppress the high assembly power as well as the excess reactivity. In this study the effects of burnable poisons are treated as a perturbation on the power distribution, and the 'Power Sensitivity Coefficient' concept is adopted. An application study is performed for cycle 1 of the Korea Nuclear Unit-7 (KNU-7) to justify the usefulness of the reverse depletion method coupled with the above concept. To obtain the optimal burnable poision distribution at the given burnup step, the linear programming technique is adopted. The result shows maximum 4.5% error in the amount of burnable poisons between the calculated and the reference values. It is concluded that the design methodology which consists of the reverse depletion, the power sensitivity coefficient concept, and the linear programming technique can be used to find the optimal turnable poison distribution.
Stability of a PWR core against xenon-induced axial power oscillation is studied using one-dimensional xenon trausient analysis code, DD1D, that has been developed and verified at KAERI. Analyzed by DD1D utilizing the Kori Unit 1 design and operating data is the sensitivity of axial stability in a PWR core to the changes in core physical parameters including core power level, moderator temperature coefficient, core inlet temperature, doppler power coefficient and core average turnup. Through the sensitivity study the Kori Unit 1 core is found to be stable against axial xenon oscillation at the beginning of cycle 1. But, it becomes less stable as turnup progresses, and unstable at the end of the cycle. Such a decrease in stability is mainly due to combined effect of changes in axial power distribution, moderator temperature coefficient and doppler power coefficient as core turnup progresses. It is concluded from the stability analysis of the Kori Unit 1 core that design of a large PWR with high power density and increased dimension can not avoid xenon-induced axial power instabilities to some extents, especially at the end of cycle.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) using communications, sensors, and navigation equipment will play a key role in future warfare. Currently, UAVs are monitored to prevent misfire and accidents, and the conventional method adopted uses wires for data transmission and power supply. The repeated connection and disconnection of cables increases maintenance time and harms the connector. For convenience and stability, a wireless power transfer system to power UAVs is needed. Unlike other wireless power transfer (WPT) applications, the size of the receiving coils must be small, so that the WPT systems can be embedded inside space-limited UAVs. The small size reduces the coupling coefficient and transfer efficiency between the transmitting and the receiving coils. In this study, we propose a toroidal-shaped coil for a WPT system for UAVs with high coupling coefficient with minimum space requirements. For validation, conventional coils and the proposed toroidal-shaped coil were used and their coupling coefficient and power transfer efficiency were compared using simulated and measured results. The simulated and measured results were strongly correlated, confirming that the proposed WPT system significantly improved efficiency with negligible change in the space requirement.

In this study, mathematical expressions based upon the conventional BEMT(blade element momentum theory) was applied to basic 100kW wind turbine blade configuration design. Power coefficient and related flow parameters, such as Prandtl's tip loss coefficient, tangential and axial flow induction factors of the wind turbine were analyzed systematically. X-FOIL was used to acquire lift and drag coefficients of the 2-D airfoils and Viterna-Corrigan formula was used o interpolate he aerodynamic characteristics in post-stall region. Also, aerodynamic characteristics, measured in a wind tunnel to calculate he power coefficient was applied. The comparative results such as axial and tangential flow factors, power coefficients were presented in this study. Power coefficient, calculated by in-house code was compared with the GH-Bladed result. The difference of the aerodynamic characteristics caused the difference of the performance characteristics as variation as TSR.
While designing and operating machines, it is very important to understand the dynamic characteristic of the machines. Authors developed the Sylvester-transfer stiffness coefficient method in order to analyze effectively the free vibration of machines or structures. The Sylvester-transfer stiffness coefficient method was derived from the combination of the Sylvester's inertia theorem and the transfer stiffness coefficient method. In this paper, the authors formulate the computational algorithm for flexural free vibration analysis of axisymmetric annular plate using the Sylvester-transfer stiffness coefficient method. To confirm the usefulness of the Sylvester-transfer stiffness coefficient method, the natural frequencies and modes for two computational models computed using the Sylvester-transfer stiffness coefficient method are compared with those computed using the exact solution and the finite element method.
In recent day, many people are interested in wind resource for generation of electric power. Especially, it is made assessment the possibility of generation of electric power by wind resource originated from running cars and buses in downtown or highway. Moreover bus, driven in the exclusive lane, is focused on possibility of generation electric power on highway because median strip makes fast flow way between bus body and median strip and a pattern will appear in the flow way like drag coefficient. But nobody can guess whether the induced flow will increase or decrease and estimate amount of change of drag coefficient. Solving drag coefficient of bus running highway is the point of this paper. To solve this problem, we use the CFD method. The model is a bus simplified without mirror and gates. In order to assess result, the flow analysis surrounding the bus on the flat road where median strip is not installed has been compared with road with median strip. Solving condition is that the driving highway and median strip are running with 100km/h (27.8m/s).
