  • In this, sensitivity based approach to estimate BITC(bilateral interchange transfer capacity) considering the real power flow control function of FACTS devices is presented. The real power flow setting of the FACTS devices is adjusted so that it transfers the power flow from the first violation point of transmission capacity to other transmission lines in the power system, thus allowing more power to be transferred from the specified generator bus to the specified load bus. The transfer between the two bus locations is increased from this new operating condition until a violation of transmission capacity limits occurs or until the setting of the FACTS devices can no longer be adjusted. The proposed algorithm is illustrated using examples of small and real life power system.

  • Direct current(DC) systems have recently attracted attention due to the increase in DC loads and distributed generations, such as renewable energy sources. Among these technologies, there has been much research into DC distribution systems or DC microgrids. Within this body of research, the main topics have been about optimum control and operation methods in terms of improving power efficiency. When DC systems are controlled and operated using power electronic devices such as converters, it is necessary to design and analyze them by considering the power electronics sections. For this reason, we propose a scalable DC system analysis algorithm, which considers various system configurations depending on the operating mode and location of the converter. The algorithm consists of power flow fault current calculations, and the results of the algorithm can be used for designing DC systems. The algorithm is implemented using MATLAB with defined input and output data. The verification of the algorithm is mainly performed using ETAP software, and the accuracy of the algorithm analysis can be confirmed through the results.

  • This paper describes the optimization problem of real power rescheduling and present an algorithm based linear programming for studying the load-shedding and generation reallocation problem when a portion of the transmission system is disabled and at power flow solution cannot be obtained for the overload of some lines. And in case initial is infeasible, solution could not be converge. So this paper gives an algorithm being lie infeasible quantities within limit. The paper describes a LP-based algorithm to obtain the solution in power dispatch related to overload situations in power system and it is easily extened under various objective. The optimization procedures is based in linear programming with bounded variables and use the multi-segment curve method for a objective function and the validity of the algorithm is verified with two examples : 10-bus system and 57-bus system.

  • This paper presents a new algorithm for determining generator operation point for maintaining stability considering generator faults in Jeju-Haenam HVDC system. As the HVDC system consumes reactive power for the transmission of active power substantially, compensation of reactive power is essential. And the HVDC system is operated on frequency control mode. That is to say, the HVDC system almost manages system frequency. Therefore, we recognized that the Jeju system could be unstable if the reactive power consumed by the HVDC is insufficient when out-of-step occurs with large generators. When the solution of power flow analysis does not converge due to the unstable system phenomenon, we have difficulty in establishing countermeasures as the post-fault information is not available. In this paper, for the purpose of overcoming this difficulty in establishing countermeasures, we introduce the CPF(Continuation Power Flow) algorithm. This paper suggests an algorithm for calculating the output limitation of the generator to maintain the stability in case of generator fault in the Jeju system.

  • The present paper presents an optimal capacitor placement (OCP) algorithm for voltagestability enhancement. The OCP issue is represented using a mixed-integer problem and a highly nonlinear problem. The hybrid particle swarm optimization (HPSO) algorithm is proposed to solve the OCP problem. The HPSO algorithm combines the optimal power flow (OPF) with the primal-dual interior-point method (PDIPM) and ordinary PSO. It takes advantage of the global search ability of PSO and the very fast simulation running time of the OPF algorithm with PDIPM. In addition, OPF gives intelligence to PSO through the information provided by the dual variable of the OPF. Numerical results illustrate that the HPSO algorithm can improve the accuracy and reduce the simulation running time. Test results evaluated with the three-bus, New England 39-bus, and Korea Electric Power Corporation systems show the applicability of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents a new concept of reactive reserve based contingency constrained optimal power flow (RCCOPF) for voltage stability enhancement. This concept is based on the fact that increase in reactive reserves is effective for enhancement of voltage stability margins of post-contingent states, in this paper, the proposed algorithm is applied to voltage stability margin of interface flow. Interface flow limit, in the open access environment, can be a main drawback. RCCOPF for enhancement of interface flow margin is composed of two modules, modified continuation power flow (MCPF) and optimal power flow (OPF). These modules art recursively perform ed until satisfying the required margin of interface flow in the given voltage stability criteria.

  • This paper proposes a new Interior Point Method algorithm to improve the computation speed and solution stability, which have been challenging problems for employing the nonlinear Optimal Power Flow. The proposed algorithm is different from the traditional Interior Point Methods in that it adopts the Predictor-Corrector Method. It also accommodates the five minute dispatch, which is highly recommended in modern electricity market. Finally, the efficiency and applicability of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated with a case study.

  • This paper presents an algorithm that evaluates the transfer capability of composite power systems using probabilistic approaches. The reliability indices calculated by using probabilistic method are expected maximal flow, expected transfer capability margin, and expected power not supplied. In this paper, a successive linear programming technique is used to evaluate transfer capability named maximal flow. Physical constraints considered in the maximal flow problem are the limits of toad voltage, line overloading, and real & reactive power generation. Numerical results on IEEE RTS show that the proposed algorithm is effective and useful.

  • Power system is analyzed by three methods of load flow, fault calculation, and voltage stability. Among there, load flow is calculated to flow of power in power in system at steady state. But, load flow is difficult to analyze to flow of power in substation, because power flow frequently alter by various equipments such as circuit bleaker, disconnect switch and shunt reactor. Particular, in 765[㎸] system, because of form of 1.5GB for stable operation, structure of substation has been very complex. In this paper, we describe technique for application of load flow algorithm in simulator for 765[㎸] substation. For this technique, we built each database for various equipments and considered form of 1.5GB Data as form of bus and line, for application of load flow, are acquired from built database, and then calculate load flow in substation. And. results of load flow are outputted in screen of operator console program.
