GAMMA-SPECTROMETRY IN ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING OF NUCLEAR POWER

  • The mathematical processing (unfolding) of pulse height spectra from a scintillation detector helps to calculate the photon fluence rate energy distribution in a measured photon field. The data processing is based on the knowledge of detection system response function and directional dependence respectively. The experimental results of the photon fields measurements in the vicinity of the spent fuel temporary storage and inside the storage hall are presented. The containers Castor 440 are used for temporary storing of the burnt up fuel assemblies in the Czech nuclear power plant Dukovany. A set of periodical measurements was performed in order to get basic information on the time dependence of the photon fields spatial distributions and spectral characteristics in the temporary storage hall and its vicinity. The photon fields were measured by the scintillation system. The obtained photon fields spatial distributions and spectral characteristics present the information on the radiation hazard in the storage.

저전압 MEMS 스위치를 적용한 휴대단말기의 인체효과 보상회로 설계 (Hand-effect compensation circuit design using the low-voltage MEMS switch in the handset)

  • 인체효과로 인해 발생된 안테나 성능의 저하를 보상하기 위하여 외부 보상회로를 설계하였다. 두 가지의 보상회로의 구조를 비교하여 스위치 스트레스를 최소화할 수 있는 구조를 선택하였다. 이후 선택된 보상 회로를 이용하여 저전압에서 사용할 수 있는 MEMS 스위치를 제공받아 FET스위치와 비교하고, 이 스위치를 휴대용 단말기에 적용하여 실험하였다. 이때 안테나로부터의 반사파를 감지하는 회로를 추가하여 인체효과 발생 시 자동적으로 보상회로가 동작되도록 프로그램 하여 데모시스템을 구축하였다. 이 시스템을 이용하여 인체효과 발생으로 인한 안테나의 성능을 보상회로를 동작시킴으로써 방사전력이 2.5dB 향상되는 것을 확인하였다.

비틀림 유도파를 이용한 토양 특성 규명 및 지하매설 배관 결함 검출 (Identification of the Properties of Soils and Defect Detection of Buried Pipes Using Torsional Guided Waves)

  • A technique is presented that uses a circular waveguide for the measurement of the bulk shear (S-wave) velocities of unconsolidated, saturated media, with particular application to near surface soils. The technique requires the measurement of the attenuation characteristics of the fundamental torsional mode that propagate along an embedded pipe, from which the acoustic properties of the surrounding medium are inferred. From the dispersion curve analysis, the feasibility of using fundamental torsional mode which is non-dispersive and have constant attenuation over all frequency range is discussed. The principles behind the technique are discussed and the results of an experimental laboratory validation are presented. The experimental data are best fitted for the different depths of wetted sand and the shear velocities are evaluated as a function of depths. Also the characteristics of the reflected signal from the defects are examined and the reflection coefficients are calculated for identifying the relation between defect sizes and the magnitude of the reflected signal.

고신뢰도 기능성 무선센서노드를 이용한 Ad-hoc기반의 ECG 모니터링 (ECG Monitoring using High-Reliability Functional Wireless Sensor Node based on Ad-hoc network)

  • 본 연구에서는 무선 센서네트워크 환경에서 요구하는 데이터 전달의 신뢰성 향상을 위해 기능성 노드를 제안한다. 생체신호 모니터링을 위해 기존의 지속적인 생체신호 전송시 발생하는 데이터 손실을 줄이기 위해 비정상적인 QRS-complex 검출이 가능한 센서노드를 이용하고, Ad-hoc 네트워크 환경에서 비정상적인 QRS-comoplex 발생시에만 데이터를 전송함으로써 무선 센서네트워크 내에 발생되는 데이터량을 줄일 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 Ad-hoc 환경에서의 기능성 노드를 사용함으로써 그 결과 의료 목적을 위한 무선 센서네트워크에서 전체 패킷발생을 줄여 센서노드의 전력소모를 크게 줄이고 시스템의 신뢰도를 크게 높이는 것으로 확인되었다.

신경회로망을 이용한 전동기의 고장 부분 탐지 (Failure Detection of Motors using Artifical Neural Networks)

  • 전동기 회전시 발생되는 소음이 전동기 구조상의 소손부분 및 정도에 따라 서로 다른 소음의 특징을 갖는다는 점을 고려하여 신경회로망을 이용한 시그널(소음)인식 시스템으로써 전동기의 고장부분 탐지에 적용하였다. 적용된 신경회로망은 역전파(back-propagation)알고리즘을 써서 학습하였고 2개의 은역층을 갖는 4단 신경회로망으로 구성 되었다. 실혐 결과 전동기의 구조와 출력이 거의 일치하는 경우에는 고정 부분에 대한 항상 바른 판정을 내릴 수 있었으나 출력은 유사하더라도 전동기의 구조가 상이한 경우나 전동기 제작회사가 다른 경우에는 부정확한 판정으로 나타난다.

전력케이블에서 교류전압과 진동파 전압을 이용한 부분방전 측정 (Partial Discharge Detection for the Power Cables using AC and Oscillating wave Voltage)

  • In this paper, in order to investigate availability of the OW-PD measurement method which has been proposed as an alternative of AC-PD measurement method to an after laying test and/or diagnosis for the power cable system, partial discharges owing to the needle-type defect integrated into the cable have been measured using AC and OW(Oscillating Wave) voltages. In the AC-PD measurement, the magnitude, phase and pulse number of partial discharges have been changed with the duration of voltage application, which can be analyzed through the relation with the process of the electrical tree initiation and propagation. In addition, the characteristics of partial discharges using OW voltage are appeared to be similar to those in case of AC-PD measurement and to be different with the shapes of electrical tree. From these results, it is concluded that the OW-PD measurement method is available to the tests for the cable system.

  • In this paper, a very low cost and robust sensing method for the rotor position of a TSRM(Toroidal Switched Reluctance Motors) is described. Position information of the rotor is essential for SRM drives. The rotor position sensor such as an opto-interrupter or high performance encoder is generally used for the estimation of rotor position. However, these discrete position sensors not only add complexity and cost to the system but also tend to reduce the reliability of the drive system. In order to solve these problems, in the proposed method, rotor position detection is achieved using voltage waveforms induced by the time varying flux linkage in the search coils, and then the appropriate phases are excited to drive the SRM. But the search coil's EMF is generated only when the motor rotates. Therefore the rotor position sensing method using squared Euclidean distance at a standstill is also examined. The simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the performance of the proposed method in this paper.

  • 영구자석 동기발전기의 벡터제어를 위해서는 회전자 위치가 필요하며 엔코더와 같은 위치센서가 위치 검출 목적으로 일반적으로 사용되고 있다. 그러나 위치센서의 사용은 영구자석 동기전동기 제어시스템의 신뢰성을 저하시킨다. 본 논문에서는 영구자석 동기전동기 제어시스템을 위한 위치센서 고장 회피 제어 방법을 제안한다. 확장 유기전력에 기반한 센서리스 위치 추정 알고리즘을 센서를 이용하는 벡터 제어와 병렬로 수행함으로써 위치센서 고장발생 시점에서 센서리스 벡터제어로 신속히 재구성할 수 있도록 하였다. 실험을 통해 제안된 방식의 유용성을 보인다.

Data Mining for Knowledge Management in a Health Insurance Domain

  • This study examined the characteristicso f the knowledge discovery and data mining algorithms to demonstrate how they can be used to predict health outcomes and provide policy information for hypertension management using the Korea Medical Insurance Corporation database. Specifically this study validated the predictive power of data mining algorithms by comparing the performance of logistic regression and two decision tree algorithms CHAID (Chi-squared Automatic Interaction Detection) and C5.0 (a variant of C4.5) since logistic regression has assumed a major position in the healthcare field as a method for predicting or classifying health outcomes based on the specific characteristics of each individual case. This comparison was performed using the test set of 4,588 beneficiaries and the training set of 13,689 beneficiaries that were used to develop the models. On the contrary to the previous study CHAID algorithm performed better than logistic regression in predicting hypertension but C5.0 had the lowest predictive power. In addition CHAID algorithm and association rule also provided the segment characteristics for the risk factors that may be used in developing hypertension management programs. This showed that data mining approach can be a useful analytic tool for predicting and classifying health outcomes data.

  • Physical layer security (PLS) can improve the security of both terrestrial and nonterrestrial wireless communication networks. This study proposes a simplified framework for nonterrestrial cyclic prefixed orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF)-encoded multiple-input and multiple-output nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems to ensure complete network security. Various useful methods are implemented, where both improved sine map and multiple parameter-weighted-type fractional Fourier transform encryption schemes are combined to investigate the effects of hybrid PLS. In addition, OVSF coding with power domain NOMA for multi-user interference reduction and peak-toaverage power ratio (PAPR) reduction is introduced. The performance of $\frac{1}{2}$-rated convolutional, turbo, and repeat and accumulate channel coding with regularized zero-forcing signal detection for forward error correction and improved bit error rate (BER) are also investigated. Simulation results ratify the pertinence of the proposed system in terms of PLS and BER performance improvement with reasonable PAPR.
