  • This paper presents a new technique for directly designing a linear digital controller for a single-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) converter systems, based on closed-loop identification. The design procedure consists of three steps. First, obtain a digital current controller for the inner loop system by using the error space approach, so that the power factor of the supply is close to one. The outer loop is composed of a voltage controller, a current control loop including a current controller, a PWM converter, and a capacitor. Then, all the components, except the voltage controller, are identified by a discrete-time equivalent linear model, using the closed-loop output error (CLOE) method. Based on this equivalent model, a proper digital voltage controller is then directly designed. It is shown through PSim simulations and experimental results that the proposed method is useful for the practical design of PWM converter controllers.

  • Generally, because of the cost and the restricted manufacture standard, the motor control for home appliance have been used the method using hall sensors or the sensorless method. In the conventional sensorless method using home appliance, the resistor and the back-EMF coefficient are varied by the motor speed and the load torque. Therefore, these variations cause the position error when the sensorless control is operated. This paper proposes the compensation method for sensorless position error using 2-hall sensor pulse signals.

  • In this paper, we drove the filtered-x least mean fourth (FXLMF) algorithm where the error raised to the power of four is minimized and analyzed its convergence behavior for a multiple sinusoidal acoustic noise and Gaussian measurement noise. The application of the FXLMF adaptive filter to active noise control requires to estimate the transfer characteristics of the acoustic path between the output and the error signal of the adaptive controller. The results of the convergence analysis of the FXLMF algorithm indicate that the effects of the parameter estimation inaccuracy on the convergence behavior of the algorithm are characterized by two distinct components phase estimation error and estimated gain. In particular, the convergence is shown to be strongly affected by the accuracy of the phase response estimate. Also, we newly show that the convergence behavior can differ depending on the relative sizes of the Gaussian noise and the convergence constant.

  • The task complexity (TACOM) measure was previously developed to quantify the complexity of proceduralized tasks conducted by nuclear power plant operators. Following the development of the TACOM measure, its appropriateness has been validated by investigating the relationship between TACOM scores and three kinds of human performance data, namely response times, human error probabilities, and subjective workload scores. However, the information reflected in quantified TACOM scores is still insufficient to determine the levels of complexity of proceduralized tasks for human reliability analysis (HRA) applications. In this regard, the objective of this study is to suggest criteria for determining the levels of task complexity based on logistic regression between human error occurrences in digitalized main control rooms and TACOM scores. Analysis results confirmed that the likelihood of human error occurrence according to the TACOM score is secured. This result strongly implies that the TACOM measure can be used to identify the levels of task complexity, which could be applicable to various research domains including HRA.

  • There are many types of grid-connected inverter controllers; Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF)-based controller is the most popular methods. SRF-based controller is capable for reducing both of zero-steady state error and phase delay. However, SRF-based controller has a complex algorithm to apply in real application such as digital processor. Resonant controller is also reduced zero-steady state error, but its transfer function has a high order. In this paper, a simple proportional control is applied for grid connected inverter with LCL filter. LCL filter is a third order system. Applying a simple proportional controller is not increased the order of closed loop transfer function. By this technique, the single phase model is easily obtained. To reduce steady state error, proportional gain is set as high as possible, but it may produce instability. To compromise between a minimum steady state error and stability, the single phase model is evaluate through Root Locus and Bode diagram. PSIM simulation is used to verify the analysis.

  • Our present ability to work with video has not been confined to wired communication environment. This paper describes the new technological trend of wireless video communication. In wireless video communication, unlike wired network, several techniques are needed. At first, error robust video coding is essential. Due to characteristics of wireless channel, the system is exposed to more error prone environment. In addition, encoded video bit streams are vulnerable to the error because of the entropy coding. Recently many frameworks are developed to cope with this problem. We just explore the numerous robust video coding approaches with the viewing of error control. And more we discuss other on going research topics in this wireless video communication fields like low-power assumption design, trans-codec technique, and rate control schemes in brief.

  • The thesis proposes the sensorless vector control method that estimates the rotor speed and rotor time constant at the same time using stator current. In the proposed method, stator current error in the stationary reference frame is proportional to estimated speed error, and stator current error in the synchronous reference frame is proportional to estimated rotor time constant error. The proposed method can simultaneously produce a fast speed estimation and rotor time constant estimation. Therefore, this new method offers an improvement in the performance of a sensorless vector controller. And, the superiority of the proposed method is verified by simulation.

  • In a mobile communication system, we analyze the performance of uplink transmit power control mechanisms for various environments when a mobile station is during soft handoff. The quality of data frames at the receiver side can be better at a base station controller (BSC) than at its base stations (BSs) if the BSC combines selectively the data frames transmitted from the BSs. And, in order to achieve the target frame error rate (FER), the outer loop power control should be done at the BSC instead of at the BSs. It can save the energy consumption of a mobile station during the soft handoff.

  • In this paper, a current control system of a single phase PWM AC/DC converter using a reduced-order Luenberger observer without source voltage sensors is proposed. The sinusoidal input current and unity input power factor are realised based on the estimated source voltage performed by the reduced-order Luenberger observer using actual currents and DC link voltage. The poles of the reduced-order Luenberger observer are placed in the left half plane of s-plane by the pole-placement method in order to acquire the stability of the observer. The magnitude and the phase of the estimated source voltage are used to accomplish the unity power factor. The proposed method is implemented by DSP(Digital Signal Processor). Experimental Results verify that the reduced-order observer estimates the source voltage without the estimation error and the control system accomplishes the unity power factor, and constant DC link voltage.
