Development of Dental Scaler Tip Mold with Powder Injection Molding Process

  • With the capability of net shaping for complex 3D geometry, powder injection molding (PIM) is widely used for automotive parts, electronics and medical industry. In this study, an ultrasonic dental scaler tip produced by machining process was redesigned for the PIM process. An injection mold was designed and machined to produce the dental scaler tip by the PIM process.

마그네슘환원에 의한 지르코늄-티타늄 합금분말 합성 (Synthesis of Zr-Ti Alloy Powder by Magnesium Reduction)

  • Zr-Ti alloy powders were successfully synthesized by magnesium thermal reduction of metal chlorides. The evaporated and mixed gasses of $ZrCl_4+TiCl_4$ were injected to liquid magnesium and the chloride components were reduced by magnesium leading to the formation of $MgCl_2$. The released Zr and Ti atoms were then condensed to particle forms inside the mixture of liquid magnesium and magnesium chloride, which could be dissolved fully in post process by 1~5% HCl solution at room temperature. By the fraction-control of individually injected $ZrCl_4$ and $TiCl_4$ gasses, the final compositions of produced alloy powders were changed in the ranges of Zr-0 wt.%~20 wt.%Ti and their purity and particle size were about 99.4% and the level of several micrometers, respectively.

  • The quality characteristics of noodles made from domestic Korean wheat flour added with 0, 1, 3, 5% cactus Chounnyuncho (Opuntia humifusa) powder were investigated. The water absorption and peak time of dough, as determined by farinography, increased with higher cactus powder content. Stability and elasticity of dough decreased as fermentation proceeded. Cooking characteristics of noodles made from dough such as weight, water absorption, and volume decreased with higher cactus powder content. The turbidity of cooked water increased significantly with 5% cactus powder content. For color test, L-value decreased while a-value and b-value increased with higher cactus powder content. In texture analyses, hardness, adhesiveness, springiness, cohesiveness, and gumminess increased with higher cactus powder content. In the sensory test, noodles containing 3% cactus powder were the most preferred.

  • 열풍건조법과 동결건조법으로 제조한 분말마늘의 품질을 비교 조사하였다. 마늘의 휘발성 향기성분을 분리하는데 porapak Q 칼럼이 비교적 적합하였으며 FD-3구를 제외한 모든 동결건조구에서 열풍건조구에 비하여 diallyl disulphide, $P_t$, alliin의 함량이 높게 나타났다. 색차계로 분말마늘의 색도를 조사한 결과. 열풍건조구가 동결건조구에 비하여 갈변현상이 심하게 나타났으며 주사전자현미경으로 분말마늘의 미세조직을 관찰한 결과 동결건조 분말은 상당히 다공성이었다.

분말 코팅을 위한 원자층 증착법 (Atomic Layer Deposition for Powder Coating)

  • Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is widely used as a tool for the formation of near-atomically flat and uniform thin films in the semiconductor and display industries because of its excellent uniformity. Nowadays, ALD is being extensively used in diverse fields, such as energy and biology. By controlling the reactivity of the surface, either homogeneous or inhomogeneous coating on the shell of nanostructured powder can be accomplished by the ALD process. However, the ALD process on the powder largely depends on the displacement of powder in the reactor. Therefore, the technology for the fluidization of the powder is very important to redistribute its position during the ALD process. Herein, an overview of the three types of ALD reactors to agitate or fluidize the powder to improve the conformality of coating is presented. The principle of fluidization its advantages, examples, and limitations are addressed.

금속 분말의 레이저 적층 시 표면 및 단면 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Laser Deposition Surface and Cross-section for Metal Powder)

  • In this study, we compared the physical and chemical properties evaluation for each size in the SUS316L metal powder produced by water atomization and gas atomization. and we analyzed the experimental data in order to find the basis of a suitable metal powder (SUS316L) for DED (Direct Energy Deposition) processing. Also it evaluated the properties of each layered surface and cross section according to the number of deposition and deposition speed. In the result of optical microscopy measurements, the metal powder by water atomization was the crack generated between the deposition layer, the deposition layer was poor quality. However, metal powder by gas atomization was obtained a relatively good deposition results than metal powder by water atomization.

PZT 파우더 첨가에 따른 티타늄 파우더/폴리머 콘크리트 복합재료의 진동 특성 및 압축 물성 분석 (Effects of PZT Powder on Vibration and Compression Properties of Ti Powder/Polymer Concrete Composites)

  • 본 연구에서는 기존 폴리머 콘크리트의 진동 감쇠 효과를 향상시키기 위해 압전 재료 중 하나인 PZT 파우더를 첨가하여 티타늄 파우더/폴리머 콘크리트 복합재료를 제작하였다. 티타늄 파우더는 압전 효과를 이용한 진동특성 변화를 극대화하기 위해 일정한 비율로 유지하였고, PZT 파우더를 첨가하지 않은 시편, PZT 파우더를 2.5 wt%, 5 wt% 첨가한 세 가지 종류의 복합재료 시편을 제작하였으며, 모든 시편에 대해 진동 특성 및 압축 물성 분석을 진행하였다. 그 결과, PZT 파우더 첨가 비율이 높아질수록 티타늄 파우더/폴리머 콘크리트에서 발생한 진동이 전달될 때 압전 효과로 인해 공진주파수에서 전달 함수 Inertance 값이 작아지는 것을 확인하였고, 특히 PZT 파우더 5 wt% 첨가 시편의 경우, 공진주파수에서 Inertance 값은 PZT가 첨가되지 않은 시편에 비해 약 19.3% 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 시간에 따른 가속도 변화 폭 역시 PZT 파우더가 첨가됨에 따라 크게 감소하는 것으로 나타나 PZT 첨가에 따른 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 압축강도 시험을 통해 5 wt%까지의 PZT 첨가에 의한 압축 물성 저하 정도는 미미한 것으로 나타났고, 시편 단면 분석을 통해 파우더가 고르게 분산된 것을 확인하였다.

Microstructure and Soft Magnetic Properties of Fe-6.5 wt.%Si Sheets Fabricated by Powder Hot Rolling

  • Fe-6.5 wt.% Si alloys are widely known to have excellent soft magnetic properties such as high magnetic flux density, low coercivity, and low core loss at high frequency. In this work, disc-shaped preforms are prepared by spark plasma sintering at 1223 K after inert gas atomization of Fe-6.5 wt.% Si powders. Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheets are rolled by a powder hot-rolling process without cracking, and their microstructure and soft magnetic properties are investigated. The microstructure and magnetic properties (saturation magnetization and core loss) of the hot-rolled Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheets are examined by scanning electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, vibration sample magnetometry, and AC B-H analysis. The Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheet rolled at a total reduction ratio of 80% exhibits good soft magnetic properties such as a saturation magnetization of 1.74 T and core loss ($W_{5/1000}$) of 30.7 W/kg. This result is caused by an increase in the electrical resistivity resulting from an increased particle boundary density and the oxide layers between the primary particle boundaries.
