MgO thin films were deposited by internal ICP-assisted reactive-magnetron sputtering with bipolar pulse bias on a substrate to suppress random arcs. Mg is reactively sputtered by a bipolar pulsed DC power of 100 kHz into ICP generated by a dielectrically shielded internal antenna. At a mass flow ratio of $Ar/O_2$ = 10 : 2 and an ICP/sputter power ratio of 1 : 1, optimal film properties were obtained (a powder-like crystal orientation distribution and a RMS surface roughness of approximately 0.42 nm). A bipolar pulse substrate bias at a proper frequency (~a few kHz) prevented random arc events. The crystalline preferred orientations varied between the (111), (200) and (220) orientations. By optimizing the plasma conditions, films having similar bulk crystallinity characteristics (JCPDS data) were successfully obtained.
Functionalized organic polymers have been used as supports for heterogenized homogeneous catalytic process[1]. Sprcific advantages of using these resins as support reagents have been reviewed[2-4]. These include: -ease of by-product separation from the main reaction product usuallyby simple filtration. -prevention of intermolecular reaction of reactive species or functional groups by simulating high dilution conditions[5]. -utility of the "fish-hook" principle in which a minor component in fished out of a large excess substrate by the insoluble polymer[6]. -the possibility of reusing recovered reagents as well as eliminating the use of volatile or noxious substances[7]. Catalysis by ion-exchange membranes is perhaps one of the latest examples of the use of a polymer-supported species. Conceptually, catalysts on membrane supports offer several possible advantages over traditional powder type systems. They are: (1) Membranes immobilize the catalyst, preventing agglomeration. (2) Filtration is unnecessary for the catalyst separation and so complete catalyst recovery is facilitated. (3) Catalytyic and separation processes can be combined, allowing membrane supported catalysts for the continous flow reactors. reactors.
A portland cement was reinforced by incorporating carbon fiber(CF), silica powder, and impregnating the pores with styrene monomers which were polymerized in situ. The effects of type, length, and volume loading of CF, mixing conditions, curing time and, curing conditions on mechanical behavior as well as freeze-thaw resistance and longer term stability of the carbon-fiber reinforced cement composites (CFRC) were investigated. The composite Paste exhibited a decrease in flow values linearly as the CF volume loadings increased. Tensile, compressive, and flexural strengths all generally increased as the CF loadings in the composite increased. Compressive strength decreased at CF loadings above approx. 3% in CFRC having no impregnated polymers due to the increase in porosity caused by the fibers. However, the polymer impregnation of CFRC improved all the strength values as compared with CFRC having no Polymer impregnation. Tensile stress-strain curves showed that polymer impregnation decreased the fracture energy of CFRC. Polymer impregnation clearly showed improvements in freeze-thaw resistance and drying shrinkage when compared with CFRC having no impregnated polymers.
Silicon nitride powders, were synthesized by the vapor phase reaction using SiH4-NH3 gaseous mixture. The reaction temperature, ratio of NH3 to SiH4 gas and the overall gas quantity were varied. The synthesized powders were characterized using X-ray, TEM, FT-IR and EA. The synthesized silicon nitride powders were in amorphous state, and the average particle size was about 100nm. TEM analysis revealed that the particle size decreased with increasing reaction temperature and gas flow quantity. As-received amorphous powders were annealed in nitrogen atmosphere at 140$0^{\circ}C$ for 2h, then the powders were completely crystallized at 0.2 ratio of NH3 to SiH4.
In this work, the parameter optimization for thermal-sprayed Al/SiC composites have been designed by $L_9(3^4)$ orthogonal array and analysis of variance(ANOVA). Al/SiC composites were fabricated by flame spray process on steel substrate. The hardness of composites were measured using micro-vickers hardness tester, and these results were analyzed by ANOVA. The ANOVA results showed that the oxygen gas flow, powder feed rate and spray distance affect on the hardness of the Al/SiC composites. From the ANOVA results, the optimal combination of the flame spray parameters could be extracted. It was considered that experimental design using orthogonal array and ANOVA was efficient to determine optimal parameter of thermal-sprayed Al/SiC composites.
Voloxidizer for hot cell demonstration that handle spend fuel of high radiation virulence in limited space should become a small size and not scatter in its exit. This study determine optimum velocity of $U_3O_8$ using Newton-Raphson Method. We have conducted fortran programing on the Newton-Raphson Method, obtained a theory results and, predicted optimum velocity on the particle size distribution of $U_3O_8$. We have conducted experimentation using acrylic experimental device for verification of theory method, sampled and analyzed using the particle size analyzer In the results, we have found maximum $5\~7\%$ error rate in the comparative value of theory and experimentation. Optimum velocity and experimental results of $U_3O_8$ for scatter prevention have applied for design of demonstration voloxidizer, and produced operation condition of voloxidizer.
In this study, we report a method to synthesize the aluminum nitride (AlN) powders from aluminum oxyhydroxide (AlOOH). AlOOH powders were prepared from the aluminum hydroxide ($Al(OH)_3$) by heattreatment at the reaction temperature of $350^{\circ}C$. Simple heat treatment of AlOOH in the flow of $NH_3$ gas leads to the formation of hexagonal AlN powders through intermediate conversion of ${\delta}-,\;{\gamma}-$ and ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$. The FTIR transmission spectra show a broad peak related to Al-N bonds centered around 690 $cm^{-1}$ confirming the presence of AlN. The major peaks in Raman spectra were observed in 250 $cm^{-1}$ and 659 $cm^{-1}$. From the results, synthesized powders from the AlOOH powders were confirmed AlN powders.
Compression behavior of semi-solid aluminum alloys with controlled solid fractions was investigated in the present study. The stress and strain relationships were obtained from the compression test. Variations of the solid fraction distribution and the material behaviour were investigated for various friction coeffieiants and die speedsd. For a finite element analysis, the semi-solid material was described by a compressible regid viscoplastic model for the solid region and darcy's law for the liquid region. The computed results were compared with experimental data for the validity of the yield criteria.
According to the evaluation of basic properties and mechanical characteristics of polymer cement mortars that contain re-dispersible type polymer, in the case of fresh mortars, flow and air content were increased due to the dispersion action of entrained air and surfactant with an increase of polymer addition ratio. In the case of mortars after hardening, flexural strength, bonding strength, absorption rate and carbonation resistance were improved due to the increased union and waterproof characteristics of internal structures as a result of the formation of polymer film.
For the detection of the state of charge in VRFB-ESS, the analyses of UV-Visible spectrometry and the measurements of potential between the anolyte and catholyte were used in parallel. This paper includes the production of 4-valant ion from VOSO4 powder, 3- and 5-valant ions from electrochemical charge of 4-valant ion and 2-valant ion from 3-valant ion. It also includes the analyses of these valance ions and unknown electrolyte at any time using UV-Visible spectrometry. Through the analyses of the valance ions in samples, the SOCs of the samples at any charge-discharge times were verified.
