Measures for Automaker's Legal Risks from Security Threats in Connected Car Development Lifecycle

  • To improve passenger convenience and safety, today's vehicle is evolving into a "connected vehicle," which mounts various sensors, electronic control devices, and wired/wireless communication devices. However, as the number of connections to external networks via the various electronic devices of connected vehicles increases and the internal structures of vehicles become more complex, there is an increasing chance of encountering issues such as malfunctions due to various functional defects and hacking. Recalls and indemnifications due to such hacking or defects, which may occur as vehicles evolve into connected vehicles, are becoming a new risk for automakers, causing devastating financial losses. Therefore, automakers need to make voluntary efforts to comply with security ethics and strengthen their responsibilities. In this study, we investigated potential security issues that may occur under a connected vehicle environment (vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-infrastructure, and internal communication). Furthermore, we analyzed several case studies related to automaker's legal risks and responsibilities and identified the security requirements and necessary roles to be played by each player in the automobile development process (design, manufacturing, sales, and post-sales management) to enhance their responsibility, along with measures to manage their legal risks.

대구 지역 방언에 나타나는 접속구의 경계 성조 : 대화체와 낭독체의 비교 (The Intonational Structure on the Conjunctive Phrase in Daegu Dialect: A Comparison of the Dialogic Style and Reading Style)

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the tonal structures of Korean conjunctive phrases produced by Daegu dialect speakers and show that there are distinctive intonational patterns between dialogic and reading styles. In the experiment, we examined the pitch contour at the edge of conjunctive phrases including '-ko', $'-(i)my{\partial}n'$, $'-(a){\partial}s{\partial}'$, '-(nin)de', '-do' in the base which is made a coordinate and subordinate conjunctive sentence according to the relation of pre-phrase and post-phrase. The results of this study show that '-ko' has L%, $'-(i)my{\partial}n'$ has LH%, $'-(a){\partial}s{\partial}'$ has HL% and '-(nin)de' has LH%, '-do' has LH% in Daegu Dialect. And the results show the conjunctive sentences were about 20% longer when they produced in a dialogic style than in a reading style. The dialogic style has various durations, the duration of the reading style is slower than the dialogic style by a rate of 20%. This suggests that the dialogic style is more dynamic than the reading style, which may be due to the communicative interaction between speakers and listeners.

$BaMgF_4$/Si 구조를 이용한 비휘발성 메모리용 MFSFET의 제작 및 특성 (Fabrication and Properties of MFSFET′s Using $BaMgF_4$/Si Structures for Non-volatile Memory)

  • A prototype MFSFET using ferroelectric fluoride BaMgF$_4$as a gate insulator has been successfully fabricated with the help of 2 sheets of metal mask. The fluoride film was deposited in an ultrai-high vacuum system at a substrate temperature of below 30$0^{\circ}C$ and an in-situ post-deposition annealing was conducted for 20 seconds at $650^{\circ}C$ in the same chamber. The interface state density of the BaMgF$_4$/Si(100) interface calculated by a MFS capacitor fabricated on the same wafer was about 8$\times$10$^{10}$ /cm$^2$.eV. The I$_{D}$-V$_{G}$ characteristics of the MFSFET show a hysteresis loop due to the ferroelectric nature of the BaMgF$_4$film. It is also demonstrated that the I$_{D}$ can be controlled by the “write” plus which was applied before the measurements even at the same “read”gate voltage.ltage.

  • This paper presents the results of the field of an improved GPS navigation algorithm. The improved GPS navigation algorithm is a modified Kalman filter which is designed to be ideally suited to car navigation in urban area where lack of GPS visibility is the major problem because of the frequent blockage of the GPS signals by tall buildings and other structures. The method allows the user to estimate its position when the number of visible GPS satellites becomes less than four by using altitude fixing and clock bias estimation techniques. The two estimation techniques are integrated with the Kalman filter in a mutually compensating manner and it is shown that the 3-dimensional position accuracy is well maintained when the number of the visible satellites drops down to two for a reasonable period of time. The post processing results are included to show the improved performance of the modified algorithm over a normal conventional GPS Kalman filter.

Riks Method를 이용한 비선형 수치해석 (Modified Arc-Length Method of Riks)

  • 구조물의 비선형 거동을 추적 조사하는 비선형 유한요소 해석에서 하중증분을 사용하는 Newton-Raphson방법은 임계점 근처에서는 수렴이 안되는 단점을 갖고 있으므로 구조물의 거동이 심한 비선형 경로(nonlinear path)를 포함하고 있는 구조물의 거동을 조사하기 위해서는 Newton-Raphson 방법의 부가적인 수정이 필요하다. Newton-Raphson 방법의 수정보완 방법으로 Riks에 의해 제안된 구속조건식을 사용하여 반복계산하는 arc-length method로써 접선강성벡터에서 수직인 방향으로 접근하는 방법(normal arc-length method)과 접선강성벡터가 원호를 그리며 비선형 경로에 접근해 가는 방법(cylindrical arc-length method)을 사용하였으며 또한 각 단계에서 비선형의 정도에 따라 arc-length를 조절하는 자동하중 증분법을 사용하였다. 비선형 수치해석의 예로 경사진 외팔보, 단순 아치구조, 쉘 구조 및 편심 보강평판의 비선형 거동을 추적 조사하였다.

SM490A와 SS400 대기부식 시편의 피로 특성 평가 (Fatigue of SS490A and SS400 Corroded Specimens)

  • 강 교량, 선로 구조물, 차량 구조물 등 철도분야에서 강 재료가 많이 사용되고 있다. 설계, 강도평가, 잔존수명 평가 등을 위하여 부식된 강 재료에 대한 인장강도, 피로강도 등이 필요하지만 우리나라의 경우 이 분야의 연구가 미진하여 축적된 데이터가 많지 않다. 본 연구에서는 철도 분야에서 많이 사용되는 대표적인 강 재료에 속하는 SM490A와 SS400에 대해 대기부식 시험절차를 확립하고 많은 시편을 대기부식에 노출시켜 일정한 시간 간격으로 수거하여 인장 및 피로시험을 수행하여 부식시간의 경과에 따른 인장 및 피로강도의 변화를 측정하였다. 처음 3-4개월 기간에 피로강도가 많이 저하하였고 그 이후에는 완만히 변화하였다. 그리고 후열처리 한 시편이 부식에 대한 저항이 더 크다는 것도 알 수 있었다.

보강된 판 및 쉘구조의 좌굴 및 후좌굴해석 (Stability and Post-buckling Analysis of Stiffened Plate and Shell Structures)

  • 보강된 판 및 쉘구조의 안정성 및 후좌굴을 포함하는 기하학적 비선형 해석을 수행하기 위하여, total Lagrangian formulation에 근거한 연속체의 증분평형방정식으로부터 변형된 쉘요소인 유한요소이론을 제시하였다. 쉘구조의 곡률이 불연속적으로 변하거나 쉘부재들이 유한한 각도로 만나는 보강된 판 및 쉘구조의 비선형 해석이 가능하도록 주부재와 보강재 간의 연결점에 대한 일반적인 변환관계를 제시하였으며 좌굴해석 및 기하학적 비선형해석의 경우에 해의 정확성 및 수렴성을 개선시키기 위하여 접선강도행렬 산정시 회전각의 2차항을 포함시켰다. 또한, shear locking 현상을 극복하기 위하여 감차적분을 적용하였고 쉘구조의 좌굴해석에서는 power method를 적용하여 해석의 효율을 높였으며, 후좌굴해석에서는 변위 및 하중증분법을 적절히 결합시켜 보강된 쉘구조의 후좌굴 거동추적이 용이하였다. 또한, 입력자료를 손쉽게 준비하고 좌굴모드 및 후좌굴거동을 효율적으로 분석하기 위하여 전, 후 처리 프로그램을 개발하였고 다양한 해석예제를 통하여 다른 문헌의 해석결과를 비교함으로써 본 연구에서 개발된 유한요소 해석프로그램의 타당성 및 정확성을 입증하였다.

Hydrodynamic characteristics for flow around wavy wings with different wave lengths

  • The present study numerically investigates the effect of the wavy leading edge on hydrodynamic characteristics for the flow of rectangular wings with the low aspect ratio of 1.5. Five different wave lengths at fixed wavy amplitude have been considered. Numerical simulations are performed at a wide range of the angle of attack ($0^{\circ}{\leq}{\alpha}{\leq}40^{\circ}$) at one Reynolds number of $10^6$. The wavy wings considered in this study did not experience enough lift drop to be defined as the stall, comparing with the smooth wing. However, in the pre-stall region, the wavy wings reveal the considerable loss of the lift, compared to the smooth wing. In the post-stall, the lift coefficients of the smooth wing and the wavy wings are not much different. The pressure coefficient, limiting streamlines and the iso-surface of the spanwise vorticity are also highlighted to examine the effect of the wave length on the flow structures.

Structural intensity analysis of a large container carrier under harmonic excitations of propulsion system

  • The structural intensity analysis, which calculates the magnitude and direction of vibrational energy flow from vibratory velocity and internal force at any point of a structure, can give information on dominant transmission paths, positions of sources and sinks of vibration energy. This paper presents a numerical simulation system for structural intensity analysis and visualization to apply for ship structures based on the finite element method. The system consists of a general purpose finite element analysis program MSC/Nastran, its pre- and post-processors and an in-house program module to calculate structural intensity using the model data and its forced vibration analysis results. Using the system, the structural intensity analysis for a 4,100 TEU container carrier is carried out to visualize structural intensity fields on the global ship structure and to investigate dominant energy flow paths from harmonic excitation sources to superstructure at resonant hull girder and superstructure modes.

피로강도 향상을 위한 표면마찰교반법의 가공조건 및 비드형상 (Bead Shape and Conditions of Friction Stir Processing to Improve Fatigue Strength)

  • Burr grinding, Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) dressing, ultrasonic impact treatment, and peening are used to improve fatigue life in steel structures. These methods improve the fatigue life of weld joints by hardening the weld toe, by improving the bead shape, and by creating the compressive residual stress. In this study, a new post-weld treatment method improving the weld bead shape and metal structure at the welding zone using Friction Stir Processing (FSP), a welding process, is proposed to enhance fatigue life. For that, a pin-shaped tool and processing condition employing Friction Stir Processing (FSP) is established through experiments. Experimental results revealed that fatigue life is improved by around 50% compared to as-welded fatigue specimens by reducing the stress concentration at the weld toe and by generating a metal structure finer than that of flux-cored arc welding (FCAW).
