  • This study aims to understand the relationships between antecedents (recognition, empowerment, fair rewards, procedural justice(PJ), perceived organizational support(POS) and consequence(turnover intention(TI) of job engagement in a super deluxe hotel's F&B departments. Based on a total of 402 useful samples obtained for the empirical research, this study reviewed reliability and fitness of the research model and verified total 6 hypotheses with through the use of the AMOS statistical program. The hypothesized relationships in the model were tested simultaneously by using a structural equation model(SEM). The proposed model provided an adequate fit to the data, ${\chi}^2=668.894$(p<.001), df=373, CMIN/DF=1.794, GFI=.901, AGFI=.877, NFI=.928, CFI=.967, RMSEA=.044. The model's fit, as indicated by these indexes, was deemed satisfactory, and thus provided a good basis for testing the hypothesized paths. The results show that recognition, empowerment, fair rewards, PJ, and POS had a positive significant influence on job engagement. In addition, job engagement had a negative significant influence on TI. Through this it was confirmed that an optimized organization(working) environment reduced employees' turnover intention by increasing their job engagement level. Therefore, it is suggested that F&B departments at super deluxe hotels design various internal marketing programs from the perspective of efficient human resource management. Implications and limitations, as well as future research directions are also discussed.

  • This study aims to examine the effect that the degree of knowledge about country-of-origin labeling on country-of-origin labeling work performance, which is a culinary staff task. This study is also intended to analyze differences in knowledge depending on hours of origin labeling education, and the moderating effect of education hours in the relationship between knowledge and performance. This study targeted culinary staff members working in ten five-star hotels in Seoul. A total of 205 self-administered questionnaires were distributed from November 14th to 27th, 2014, and 240 questionnaires(98.4%) were used for analysis after the exclusion of 4 with unreliable responses. Based on the data collected, frequency analysis, reliability test, exploratory factor analysis, simple regression analysis, t-test and moderating regression analysis were conducted using SPSS 18.0 program. The study findings are as follows. Culinary staff knowledge of origin labeling had a significantly positive effect on job performance and the degree of knowledge was higher in the group that attended one to two-hour periods of education. This suggests a differences in knowledge depending on the hours of education, which then had a moderating effect on the relationship between knowledge and performance. In conclusion, in order to improve knowledge of country-of-origin labeling and the level of performance, there is a need to increase education hours and enable culinary staff memebers to learn more knowledge and apply it to actual tasks. Based on these results, the limitation of the study and the direction of future research were also discussed.

  • Research has been in progress for more than a decade to production of useful proteins by genetic modification in cattle. However, the levels of protein production in transgenic cattle have been reported very low. To enhance protein production in transgenic animal, we tried homologous recombination to donor cells for production of transgenic clone cattle through nuclear transfer procedure. Thus, we constructed the two targeting vectors of human thrombopoietin (TPO) at bovine $\beta$-casein locus using homologous recombination with 13.6 kb and 9.6 kb homology. In two targeting vectors, positive selection was through the neomycin resistance gene and negative selection was by the diphtheria toxin (DT). Gene targeting was attempted in bovine embryonic fibroblasts (bEF) and bovine ear skin fibroblasts (bESF). To determine the most appropriate concentration of neomycin for bEF and bESF, G4l8 resistance was confirmed by culturing the cells in various concentrations of the drug and both of the cells were optimally selected at $900 \mu g/ml$ of neomycin. The transfected bEF and bESF by the targeting vectors were colonized efficiently at the ratio of DNA to transfection reagent such as $4 \mu g$:2 ${mu}ell$ and $1 \mu g$:$2 \mu l$. Comparing number of healthy clones from passage 4 to passage 8, bESF (17%) persist in culture for much longer than bEF (6%). The two gene-targeted bESF clones of 30 random-integrated clones with 9.6 kb homology length were confirmed, however, nothing was out of 72 random integration clones with 13.6 kb homology length, The DT also worked more efficiently in clones transfected with the vector of 9.6 kb homology length. Our data suggests that the choice of donor cell for long culture period should be considered to obtain targeted cell clone, and the gene-targeting frequency and the DT working efficiency are dependent on the length of target homology.

  • In our previous report, we indicated that not only BSA but also BGG played an important role in the allergenicity of beef. In this study, the effect of heat or high-pressure treatments to beef extract on the SDS-PAGE patterns was examined. The antigenicity of each treated samples was also investigated by Western blots assay with the sera of BGG-positive beef allergic patients. The BGG band and its antigenicity slightly disappeared but not generally in $100^{\circ}C$ group, indicating $100^{\circ}C$ treatment is not sufficient to totally eliminate the antigenicity of beef allergens. Compared with BGG band, BSA band significantly disappeared in SDS-PAGE with $100^{\circ}C$ treatment, indicating BSA is more heat- sensitive than BGG. When the beef extract was heated at $120^{\circ}C$, not only BSA but also BGG bands was largely disappeared in both SDS-PAGE and Western blots. High pressure (HP) treatment even at 600 MPa did not affect SDS-PAGE and Western blots pattern of BSA. On the contrary, BGG treated with HP showed visible changes in SDS-PAGE. 600 MPa treatment significantly reduced the antigencity. Interestingly, these behaviors of BGG were not found in the same experiments with pure BGG treated with HP. From these results, it was speculated that some kinds of proteolytic enzymes in beef extracts were involved in the BGG molecular degradation by HP treatment. The aging experiments of beef extracts treated with HP supported this hypothesis. Further studies are needed to clarify the function and working mechanism of enzymes associated with BGG degradation in beef extracts by HP treatment.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate teachers' perception of core competencies and affective aspects in mathematics. For this purpose, a nationwide survey was conducted. The survey questionnaire consists of three core competencies including problem solving, reasoning and communication, and two affective aspects including good human nature and attitudes. The survey results were further analyzed based on school level, teaching experience, location of schools, and types of high schools. As a result, four findings were identified. First, elementary school teachers tend to put more emphasis on core competencies and affective aspects than secondary school teachers do. Second, in elementary school level, longer teaching experience is correlated with more positive perception of core competencies and affective aspects. However, there was an opposite tendency in secondary school level. Third, teachers working at schools in metropolitan cities tend to emphasize core competencies and affective aspects more than those at schools located in mid-sized cities and rural areas. Fourth, the school types in high school didn't seem to affect the teachers' perception on core competencies and affective aspects.
